We stopped in the other week to pick up some wonton wrappers. The woman at the counter was super helpful, and walked around the store talking about the various things that they had available. And it wasn't just a "dazzle the new customer" sort of thing. She asked what sort of foods and flavors we liked, what we did and didn't eat, and made sure to point out the stuff that might work for us. My family has already been back in a second time, and I have a feeling we'll be trying some of their premade dumplings very soon! read more

Highly recommend coming here for the handmade frozen dumplings by Din Tai Fung. Only $1 each. You do not have to buy all 50, just ask the owner. Excellent service. Clean place, easy parking. Next to other restaurants. read more

Had a very odd experience here. It's a corner store, so I understand somewhat empty shelves and limited, if cleanly displayed, stock. But I found expired products on the shelves, as other reviewers have noted, and even stranger, there was just no one there. Unlike the experience others seem to have had, there was no one up front, no one to check people out, and no one behind the counter at the back. I almost felt as if I wasn't supposed to be there, but it was the middle of the day on a Sunday and they were open. It's entirely possible the frozen dumplings are great but the packages are massive and not feasible for me, and the grocery selection was too limited (and expired) for me to return. read more

A nice market located in Westmont. There is a great selection of items. The owner Julia is very nice and accommodating and will show you some of the foods. Got some tea a bento box and some frozen beef dumplings which were excellent. They also have dumpling cooking classes it looks like. Was feeling slightly coming on a cold and the Ban Lan Gen tea was a great pick me up. I felt amazing afterwards. It's works well. I'm hooked. The bento box had fried chicken and an assortment of delicious sides. The chicken was tender and delicious. read more

This is a classic example of "don't judge a book by it's cover." The outside may look a little run down but wow they seriously have great stuff in here, it's worth taking a look! My friends and I ate at the restaurant next door and decided to walk off the food by taking a look in Hunan market. We weren't expecting to buy much but we came out with some goodies. Inside is very clean and well organized. This is a Taiwanese market so they have some of your typical asian groceries, but also some fancier items such as imported Taiwanese instant noodles, handmade frozen dumplings, siu mai, boba, thinly sliced meat for hot pot, and much more. A tray of siu mai was $20, they looked like nice portions too. There was also XLB soup dumplings, bbq baos and more. You can also buy a larger quantity for $45 I believe, and it's a biiiig bag so that would last you a while lol. If you've been to Katy's Dumpings right next door to this market, some of the items look exactly the same!!! Although there was only one person working, it was great customer service. The lady showed us everrrrything in the store and recommended many things, maybe a tiny bit too much haha but she was extremely helpful. My friend got these delicious sesame mochi in the frozen section to the left of the cash register, it was a gem so take your time looking around. I will be back to try the frozen dumplings! read more

Great products! Friendly staff, good service! Reasonable price and clean surroundings!

Visiting family and stopped in to see what was up. Picked up some dumplings (soup dumplings, bao, and regular dumplings) everything was great! Cool spot and a great boba place next door. Will be sure to stop in again on my next visit! read more

Julia, at the Hunan Market, was very welcoming. We're vegetarian, so she immediately began showing us vegetarian food options (tofu noodles, etc.), describing flavor profiles and explaining dishes for which they would be used. My children learn Mandarin in school, so she had a long conversation with them. She taught them the best way to boil or pan fry the dumplings we purchased. What a lovely experience. read more

I walked in there one day just to get some chili sauce. I was basically attacked by the owner. No, she reached out to me like I was the last customer ever she followed me everywhere. Tried to sell me everything on the shelf and a few things that I did buy when I got home they were expired when I tried to bring them back. She basically called me a liar and said that I switch the dates myself, I can't switch to date on the package also found out on the weekends she's trying to serve food. She doesn't have a license to serve food but she still trying to do it anyways when I said something to her about the health department, she said not to worry they don't come on the weekends, if you value your money and your life stay away from this place I also found out she's a realtor, so can you imagine trying to buy a house from her? Good luck. read more

For a tiny little market, this place has everything. There is a meat station in the back (I think most are frozen) where someone will serve you. There are frozen sections with a good variety of dumplings and other frozen Asian foods. The cup noodle section was what intrigued me most - they had Japanese, Korean, and Chinese selections and even had quinoa noodles as a healthy option. I picked up tapioca starch that was only a dollar or two. Cheap and efficient. Make sure to spend over $10 if you plan to use a credit card. read more

Bad reputation！ The customer service is really bad. No sorry for selling expired food and kept making stupid excuses to escape from taking the responsibility. Unwilling to give refund and exchange. They smiled to you when you pay and worked as an asshole when you came back with their unqualified items. Be careful on this store. Maybe they just do this on Chinese people，you hurt people who trusted you and it is not kind. read more

This was an unexpected find but a surprisingly one. Unfortunately, they don't sell a whole of items, and even less in produce and fresh meat. Like other little shops, this one sells mainly canned items and dry spices. Not terrible if you need some Chinese/Taiwanese staples but I had to go to another store to pick up the rest of my ingredients. I gave this a 3 because the store was clean and the cashier was very friendly, polite and willing to help. read more

This is a relatively smaller grocery store selling Taiwanese, Chinese, and some of other Asian products. You can't expect you find everything since it's not the scale of Hmart or Mitsuwa. However, you can definitely find some common things Asian uses to cook and great selection of snacks and noodles packs that we eat in Taiwan!!! Communicate with the staff, they are willing to listen to your needs and try to increase their selections! read more

I give this place a 3.5. A small and clean Chinese super market. The price is slightly higher compared to Chinatown but I still go there pretty often for the convenience factor. The owners are super friendly and helpful, very nice to the kids - Yes one time I went in there only because my 3-yr old recognized that was the store with the nice lady and lollipops - of course I ended up spending 50 bucks before leaving with the free candy in my kid's hand. Only caution is be sure to check the expiration dates on some of the items. They are very nice about refunding if the item's expired - however checking before you pay would always save a trip and some frustration. read more

They are stocked with all of the ingredients for "Hot-Pot", a fun meal to share with friends and family. A simple and enjoyable meal, the clerks can tell you all about it. Spices, noodles, mushrooms, candy tofu, and a variety of drinks-don't leave without trying a can of Apple Sidra. And please during these times shop local, it benefits everyone. read more

This is the only Chinese market (not a supermarket) near my SW burb home. It sells the essential dry goods, candy, cooking must haves like soy sauce. Frozen section is surprisingly good, scallion pancake, dumpling etc. Has a section of Asian specialty vegetable that can't be found in an American market. The dry ramen noodle in white boxes are most delicious, they go with anything. This is a small mom & pa market, mom is the always friendly cashier. While pa is in the back having a smoke break. read more
