Woah, I was hummed right into a state of utter relaxation! We opted for their most relaxing class and were not disappointed. A mix of yin and other less dynamic styles of yoga, and finishing with some meditation activities, I left feeling about five years younger! The interior is very chic and set-up much like a day spa, including free hairbands, towels for use and coconut water and tea on arrival. They even have lockers with phone chargers in them, hello 2016! Wish I lived in Melbourne so I could attend this studio's classes regularly. read more

I have never been to one single yoga class in my life. This year I turn forty and doing yoga is on my list of things to do before the big Four O. My partner bought me an introductory package. $70 for as many classes you can do in a month. My first class was 'Mellow Hum' perfectly fitting name for such a class. The rooms are at a nice 27° dark and so very peaceful. I enjoyed the 60 minutes so much. My teacher Sammy-Jo was wonderful and I felt very comfortable with her. I like that you can book your class and mat on line. Classes are spread throughout the day to suit everyone's needs. I hope to try them all. The venue itself is luxe. Spacious bathrooms equipped with everything you need from toiletries to hair straighteners. Ample lockers. Im really looking forward to many more classes at Humming Puppy. The dim moody lighting, the meditative perfect 'Hum' to help you be present & take you on a journey within while you sweat out the toxins & impurities in the 27 degree heat. The thoughtful ladies here have thought about all the little things that count, from hair ties, phone chargers & some lockers offering electrical ports to charge your phone whilst practicing, to mats, sweat towels, bath towels to natural bathroom shampoo, conditioners n body wash to have you smelling perfectly fresh after you wring out the sweat in your session. Very fancy yoga studio for those that want to be pampered & can say they do yoga. Dynamic class - should be classified as an Intermediate slow flow class. The teachers at Humming Puppy talk too much. The same yoga sequences is repeated 6-8 times which shows very limited teachers experience. Very boring classes and the teachers repeat the same sequence throughout the weeks. read more

I visited Humming Puppy for the first time this week. It didn't disappoint. I was initially impressed by their website after clicking through from a Facebook advert a few months back. I purchased the $50 deal for unlimited yoga for 2 weeks (cracking offer) That said the ongoing monthly charges seem very reasonable as well, especially for what you get. The studio itself is very high end with lots of space and each row elevated higher than the one in front. It has pristine changing\locker\shower\rooms and an overall decor you would associate with a boutique hotel. I went to the mellow hum class and left feeling pretty chilled, but I also felt as if I had done a lot of activity. I think it's a great touch that you don't need to bring towels or a mat (unless you want to) Being new to Yoga. This really was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area, you really need to check it out for yourself to take see how good it is. Someone put a lot of effort into designing this studio. read more

I've never done yoga before, I've always felt it was something that I wouldn't be into, however after purchasing my partner a into offer and after hearing her enthusiasm and positive feedback I decided to give it a try. You simply sign up & book your mat online. It's so easy. The venue is amazing. It is luxe and relaxing from the moment you enter the door. The foyer is simplistic with a huge black board where everyone writes messages or quotes, there is also some plush couches where you are able to enjoy some coconut water or water before or after your class. Lockers, towels and facilities are all available for your convenience. The shala is 27°, calming, dark and decked out with everything - mats, bolsters, foam blocks and straps. The room actually 'hums' at 40hz which is specifically associated with 'Gamma' brainwave activity. It's a pretty surreal experience. There is no specific practice or style of yoga taught at humming puppy it's all relative to the instructor and what they have learnt and practiced. I have done 2 classes so far, 2 different instructors and I already can feel what works best for me. I love humming puppy. It's lux, calming and worth every cent, which was $70 for 3 weeks into offer but is currently extended to 4 weeks. read more

Tucked behind Chapel St Humming Puppy is a great studio to take yoga classes at. Head up the stairs and you will be welcomed with a beautiful blackboard wall where students can write messages, you will be greeted and provided a tour of the shala and then head downstairs to experience the hummmmmm (yes the actual yoga room produces a frequency of 7.83hz which is the same as the earth to help you feel grounded and also 40hz to stimulate gamma brain wave activity to reach peak performance) in the temperate room. Facilities: For each class, you are allocated a manduka mat and all equipment is provided so all you need is to bring yourself. There are even towels you can borrow for a shower after but get there quick as there are 3 shower stalls. Lockers are available - scattered around the compound and you will find refreshing both hot tea and coconut water on hand in the waiting area. Class: HP offers 3 main classes - dynamic, unified and mellow with each progressively slower paced. I have tried all 3 using a classpass membership and have enjoyed all the classes. Each instructor has their own style but they give clear instructions and options. It may sound strange but the humming is relaxing so give it a go and try a class! read more

Did a Beautiful casual yin yoga class here. Lovely atmosphere, minimalist and earthy design. Communal area with free tea and coconut water. The practice room is big but very shakti - dark walls and low lights give it a closed down, comforting feel. The only thing I didn't like was the online system which required a full profile, address, date of birth, etc plus credit card details in order to drop in for a casual class. I ended up just calling them, but they still needed me to create a profile. read more
