This towing company always goes the extra mile to help you out in the time of need. I have gotten locked out of my car and this towing company was more than willing to work with my insurance. So far the staff has been courteous, helpful and attentive. They have good communication with their customers. I recently had to get a car out of this company it had been towed by them after it was stolen. Over the phone on a Sunday they said that it would 300 ot cheaper to pick up on a Monday. When we arrived, my brother and I, on Monday. I gave my brother my debit card and my ID, while I sat parked in my car in front. The car was my brother who didn't have the money so I offered to help, cause it was stolen the cops found the car in Fortuna. My brother who is darker than me, we are African Americans. He went to the window they told him it would be 575$ cash to get the car out. I got out of the car and went to the window and asked one of the women why the price had changed from Sunday? The story did not add up so asked to speak with the owner or person in charge I was told the person is out on medical leave. Another lady in the office said she was the next in charge and said she would give it to us for 335$ after I questioned their fees and asked why it had to be cash since the had a card machine sitting there. She then let me use my card. The car was towed again for a different reason and now they want double the cash. A+ service from beginning to end!!!! I had to call my Honda care to send someone out to help jump start my car. TWICE! But I had a great experience! The gal that called me from Humboldt Towing was polite and friendly. I can't remember her name, but she was very patient with me. Once she figured out my exact location, she let me know that Mr. Tim was on his way. We waited no more than about 10 minutes. Which to me is super quick. Living in southern California originally we can wait 45 mins to and hour and a half. Tim approached us and the car, and introduced himself and got to it. He was very nice and understanding. He got us going and we were on our way. Well, one stop later my car decides not to start AGAIN! I knew this was a problem with my car. So once again I call and am directed to Humboldt Towing. I was happy about that. The second lady to call me was just as warm and friendly as the first. She figured out where we were and sent someone out. Not to my surprise it was Mr. Tim again. My son mentioned he may be the one to help us again. We weren't too far from our first stop though. Again he was friendly and professional. We laughed at the situation even though I felt dumb. But he made me feel NOT so dumb. Really great people working for this company I truly do appreciate the excellent 5 star customer service I received today. Update: I'm revising my original review from 1 star to 5 stars. The owner promptly contacted me after he was aware of our situation and worked with us on the charges. He was sympathetic to the issue and even shared his own story of dealing with theft of a vehicle.. I would encourage anyone to talk to Leroy to work out a fair and reasonable deal.. Awful company! Don't do business with Humboldt Towing! They have the most unethical business practices I've ever heard of! My son's car was stolen, he reported it to EPD. EPD found it in an alley on B street, battery stolen and ignition ripped apart. EPD called to have it towed ( 2 miles) and now Humboldt Towing is charging $386 because law enforcement called it in plus $75 a day it's there...THEY WON'T TAKE A PAYMENT UNLESS IT'S CASH?!?? LAZY LYING THIEVES I called in for flat tire repair service. Someone let the air out of my tire. They charged my card before they arrived. Once he got to my vehicle in Eureka. He said he couldn't put my full size spare on because there wasn't enough tread on the tire. He said he could tow it for more money. I asked if he could put air in my tire. He again said no. I asked if they could refund my $80 and cancel the call, they said yes. I never got a refund. They are lying thrives that leave people in bad situations just because they're lazy. read more

I have used Humboldt Towing on various occasions and have always been treated with nothing but respect and kindness. They have always given me accurate time frames of service and have usually met those times. the drivers have all been friendly and knowledgeable and efficient. I have no idea why people are posting such negative reviews when they are MOST LIKELY not giving the whole story, for example, there are extra charges for releasing a car on a weekend, which should be a no-brainer as you cannot Expect a business to work on a weekend for free. I would recommend Humboldt Towing every time and I would recommend that when anyone reads these reviews that they remember that what they read is only part of the story. read more

Since you cannot have no stars I HAD to give them one star. If you read the reviews very few of any positive reviews are by women. My experience with them is dealing with the owner. He left me stranded on two different scheduled tows. I was 300 miles from home. He lied to the insurance company (drop off repair had no place to put it); then lied to me (didn't have a truck big enough). It is a 5th wheel. I did lose it and yelled at him because he knew there was nothing I could do. He acted like a good old boy, not in a good way. My parting words were vulgar in 1970. He did make a comment that I swore like a sailor. Well I am a veteran of the US Navy. He never did thank me for my service. read more

Humboldt Towing did an incredible job with something we feared was impossible. A wide Air Stream trailer, 31 feet long, needed to be moved to a site that was not one inch more than it needed. In addition, the angle of necessary approach, we were told by others, was likely impossible. They came the Monday after our call, figured everything out, worked patiently and Viola! It fit perfectly. There was a fire in the area l, but the route of travel for the tow truck was not compromised by the wildfire at all. An absolutely horrible experience. The man who towed my car was nice enough, but it all went downhill from there. I had been rear ended pretty badly when I was stopped at a red light. When the tow truck arrived, the driver gave me a business card and told me that I could get my belongings (I had been driving back up to school) out later. The next day I called the number on the car to find out about when I could get my stuff out, alas they did not answer. I proceeded to leave a voicemail with my contact info hoping that they would get back to me. Over the next two days I called them three more times. Not only did they not answer, but they made no effort to contact me back. That in itself is irksome, but what really gets me is the fact that they have been charging me an insane amount of money to keep my car there. When I say "insane" I'm talking more than $500 for 4 days when three of those days (Saturday, Sunday, MLK day) they weren't even open to allow me get my car out! I was given no quote, no notification of fees or day rates, nothing. They just towed my car away and then robbed me blind. If I had known how ridiculous the prices were I would have just had them tow my car to my apartment and figured out what to do with it there. Now, here's the really sketchy part: they claim to only accept cash. What kind of business only accepts cash in 2019?!!!!!! Humboldt towing is seriously one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with. My friend crashed her car near her house because a deer ran right in front of it. This was the middle of the night, she didn't have a phone on her.... and she was walking distance to her house so she went home to call herself and figure out a plan to retrieve the car that had crashed into a ditch (but was still drivable)! Before she got a chance to call I guess CHP called and it was towed off! Well that sucks but okay... so the next day being a Saturday you can get ahold of them but they will not give you your car back until MONDAY! They would not even let her get her school bags out the car which had homework that was going to be due inside. They where really rude on the phone and in person on Monday. Well if you aren't going to let someone pick up their car during the weekend then don't you think you shouldn't be charging them by the day? For the car being in there not even a full 3 days it was over $500.00 to get it out! These people act like they are the law and they hold your own property over your head. Someone else I was recently talking to had their car towed also and couldn't come up with the money and by the end of it just ended up losing their car all together. THIS IS NOT RIGHT, this is bad customer service, and this makes me hate Humboldt Towing. I have had to tow my vehicle a couples times before and used pacific towing and I would recommend them of Humboldt Towing. God help you if they get your car in their lot! I seriously hope you are able to cough up the cash to get it out. These people are fu**ed up, sorry but it's true! I know all situations where your car gets towed end up costing a bunch but to not be allowed to get your car out but them to still be allowed to charge you isn't right also this is more then other places in my past have charged me for the same thing, and it being topped off with all the rudeness over the phone and in person. On Feb 24th I got in to my 2011 pathfinder and picked up an acquaintance to give him a ride top eureka. I was to go grocery shopping afterward however I was cut off on the freeway ave my car was badly damaged. Before I could get through hold on the line with AAA CHP took it upon th3 themselves to call these people. They picked my car up and took it away to their property... how was less than 6 miles.. they charged me 275!!!! Then 65 dollars per day for it to be stored... I had to call and call and call and allow the dispatch girl to speak VERY poorly tok me.. it is now da y 7 a bb they are already setting up a lien sale on my paid off vehicle.. My gosh.. My birthday was go a be in 11 days.. I see mental health.. take all kinds of meds.. the workers there stole over 400 dollars worth of my property... life sucks. read more

I called Humboldt Towing when my battery went dead. They showed up exactly when they said they would (the reason for a two-star review instead of one). The tow truck driver insisted on using his portable jump pack rather than his service vehicle to jump start my car. I requested that he get out the jumper cables as I know very well that those jump packs rarely work like they're supposed to, but he refused. Sure enough, the car didn't start. The driver called for a tow and my car was taken to an auto-mechanic who jump started it immediately. It was only a flat battery, but now I'm on the hook for a tow and the labor cost from the mechanic. If the tow truck driver had done as I asked and not been lazy, I could have simply installed a new battery myself and saved $100. read more

Be aware.... Humboldt towing is shady AF. Son sold a vehicle filed the release of liability with DMV. New owner didn't register it drove it till it got towed. Now Humboldt towing is trying to collect $3000+ from him. He took in the release of liability papers to them.They told him he IS responsible because he is the LAST registered Owner ,and the Release of Liabilty does not matter ,Instead of dropping the issue they turned him into collections. First of all lets talk about their scam with CHP. If you get in an accident and have to walk to a phone Humboldt Towing is the first outfit called within the humboldt Area to come and tow your vehicle. By the time i got back to my wrecked car CHP had already called humboldt towing so i had no other option. Humboldt towing then proceeded to charge me 500 dollars from CR exit to south of eureka. They demand cash or hold your vehicle hostage. They DO NOT accept AAA further more proving they are unethical scam artists. They are unwilling to make deals and their staff is rude. My mother went to get a tow receipt on the phone asked them to email it or fax it for her and they refused. theyre lazy they dont want to do the job theyre supposed to be doing. Our truck broke down on Naval Base Road and we were lucky enough to have cell phone service. Hartford Insurance contacted Humboldt tow and they were there within 30 minutes. First of all, I was give negative stars if possible. I want to say that the drivers are friendly, but the office staff AND the owner are unorganized and rude. They charged our card 3 different times over the 2 weeks following our tow. When I called to be credited, the lady rudely told me to contact MY bank. I had to report them as fraudulent charges to have them removed. Somebody there continued to use our number and then when sent the proof of our charges, was not even willing to help. I have NEVER had this happen and I certainly thought they would be apologetic. They apparently realize that their services are needed and do not feel that customer service is important. They also tried to charge extra for using a credit card when they showed up, which is illegal in California, so make sure to remind them of this fact. As if we always have $200 in cash for a tow? Not only are they illegally charging, but they are making money off of it. Businesses paying merchant fees is part of the cost of doing business. read more

My sister recently had her car towed. She was in the wrong and should have not parked where she did. That being said, I called Humboldt towing to pay the fine. I know they are a business and they did a service they deserved to be paid. But the man i spoke to on the phone ( who would not tell me his name) was so incredibly rude. I have never been spoken to like that before. I wanted to pay over the phone with my credit card. and he said no! I said I would like to pay for your service so my sister can have her car back. again he said cash or no car, I as calmly as i could told him i don't live in the area. My sister is going to school and doesn't have the money and if i mailed her cash it would be at least 2 days . He said fine but she will be charged for every day its here. So again i asked can i please pay over the phone. again he said loudly and rudely CASH OR NO CAR are you deaf. I was mad now but come on i was trying very hard to pay. He then told me" have you never heard of western union if you want her to have a car take your happy little butt and go wire her the money." Really??? how can people speak to people like that. I personally have never done western union so i called my local western union office and asked how to do this. They said it cost and all my sister would need was an id. Great. A huge inconvenience to drive to the western union office and wire the money when they could simply take my credit card over the phone. I called my sister who informed me her wallet was in the car. I called back Humboldt towing and unfortunately got the same man who was just as rude. I asked if she could get her wallet out of the car so she could get the money transfer and he said NOPE no cash , no wallet , no car . Really? wow ! SO i asked what do i do he suggested she go find the money somewhere or put it in a friends name. This is one of the worst phone conversations. They need to understand that people are in stressful situations if they are calling a towing company and should be able to work with people for positive outcomes for everyone involved.
