This place was suggested by a guy from a running group I recently joined, whose birthday it was. Arguably, it's unacceptable for a man, beyond a certain age, to acknowledge his birthday, but it was a bit early on in my membership to point that out. Certainly, no man should celebrate his "birthday month." I was somewhat familiar with this building from any number of past iterations, including an Italian restaurant and a Cajun restaurant. How tragic it would be if this pizza restaurant was also unceremoniously shuttered due to lack of interest. I parked in the lot around back and went for a five-mile run before dining in. There were signs declaring that parking was for customers of a nearby cheesecake establishment only. It wasn't clear to me if the cheesecake place and the pizza place were the same place. Arguably, a pizza is a kind of cheesecake--as I would have been more than happy to explain to the police. (Don't think too hard about that.) Turns out that wouldn't be an issue. The entire time we were there, there wasn't a single customer other than the members of my running group. It's too bad, really. This place makes a good pizza. I was concerned that there might be one guy with a substance abuse issue who doesn't know how to prepare any of the dishes manning the kitchen, which is the case with most restaurants these days, but no. If you told me they had disgraced TV chef Mario Batali himself back there making pizzas, I would believe you. We may have ordered 10 or 15 pizzas, along with various other items. They were back there cranking them out in no time at all. Granted, pizzas don't take that long to cook. But some of these are fairly elaborate recipes, and the execution was on point. I had the Goodfella, presumably named after the movie from which I've adopted much of my worldview, along with Fight Club and Joker, and the novel Infinite Jest. It's essentially a pepperoni and meatball pizza with spicy peppers, one of which is, weirdly, giardiniera. I guess giardiniera is technically Italian, so there's no cultural appropriation, or stolen valor. And meatballs are made of beef, so there's a bit of an Italian beef vibe, like in the hit FX series The Bear. Was that intentional, or a delightful coincidence? The meat toppings were giving circa '93 Tombstone (the freezer aisle staple, not the film), but not necessarily in a bad way. The helping of mozzarella was generous, which is important to note, with Chipotle out here trying to rip people off. Everyone I was with seemed to enjoy their pizzas and what have you, and all of it seemed reasonably priced. The aforementioned run group meets in various places. It might be a while before they're back. Hopefully, this place is still there. read more

I'm still happy Humble Pie is here. I like the concept. I love pizza and I love ice cream. I like the look of the front room where the ice cream is). I will still go there for ice cream. Things I don't love: - The Absence of certain menu items: At least a couple of Dole whip flavors have been unavailable for some time - Menu on the wall is difficult to read. It's written in chalk with harsh-looking letters. There is a menu on paper. I'm glad it isn't a screen menu, though, as I dislike those. - How dark it is in the main dining room & the decor. They went with dark red walls, but there is little to brighten up the place. The wall of pizza boards is cool, but some of the other stuff is just kind of... blah. I feel like the theming is weak. - The most recent pizza I had wasn't very good. I suspect the space is too big for what Humble Pie is. The menu is halfway semi-serious dining and halfway fast & casual. Even though quite a few options are on the menu, many of them are similar, like various pizzas and dirty sodas, and not that much dedicated space is needed. Humble Pie possibly would work better as a hole in the wall restaurant. The management may want to consider making it a little more like their Fozzie's sandwich shop (which is down the street). What Humble Pie offers isn't unique for the area with the exception of dirty soda. As it is within blocks of several other pizza restaurants, maybe a mile from the Clayton Clementine's ice cream, and it's in the same building as Hank's Cheesecakes, it's got quite a bit of established competition. read more

I would give them 3.5, their crust is poor, completely flat, skinny, too much corn meal, not crunchy too soft. The sauce seems pretty straight forward tomato paste, with some spices, applied heavy on my pie. Fine, if that is your thing. Just had a cheese pizza and salad, the ingredients seemed high quality. The salad had only one dressing choice, ranch, which seems weird. This place isn't good enough, and I can't imagine them surviving, without a huge improvement in preparation. Once was enough, someone let me know if they decide to compete with La Pizza or Dewey's in quality. read more

Very unassuming from outside, but nicely decorated on the inside. The front of the building is an ice cream shop, not sure if it's related to the pizza restaurant. We went straight to the restaurant. You order and pay at the counter, find your own table, put the number tag on the table and they bring out the food one by one. We ordered a salad and two small pizzas, one was Vietnamese style and one was French style. I will give them props for the creativity, but I didn't care for the Vietnamese style very much as the toppings are cold. I recently visited Humble Pie's new spot in Richmond Heights. The staff was really sweet and friendly. I ordered the Banh Mi pizza. I liked that it was light and felt healthy. It tasted good, though it had a bit too much of the pickled onions. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I didn't care for their marinated steak skewers. I usually love chimichurri, but I don't think I liked their version. As soon as I smelled it, I had a feeling it wasn't for me. I tried a few bites, but it was a bit too chewy as well. Dirty sodas are always fun, and if you have a sweet tooth, you'll love theirs. They also offer ice cream and floats for dessert. I loved the spacious interior, the convenient parking lot, and how warm and cozy it was on a cold day. They also have sandwiches and burgers that I want to try next time. read more

This was another place mentioned in Stl magazine, and after seeing some of the other reviews, I knew it was a place I had to check out. I came early in the afternoon and I was the only one there. To be fair, the forecast was way off in their snow prediction and the roads weren't really in the best driving condition. I was already out running errands, so I figured I may as well come. I walked in to an incredibly spacious and decorated restaurant. I loved seeing all the different colored pizza peels on the wall in addition to the other various artwork they had. They told me I could sit anywhere, so I chose to sit by the fireplace since it was the farthest from the door. It would have been perfect if it were lit, but it wasn't. When I was ready, they told me to order at the front. I got a 9" pizza "To my liking" and got it with cheese, spinach, and grilled chicken. For beverages, I stuck with water. They gave me a number and I went back to my table. After a short while my pizza arrived and it was literally perfect; from the size, to the presentation, and best of all, the flavors were incredible. The 9" pizza is more than enough for one person. I truly savored each bite and was quite pleased with the overall taste, especially the sauce. It's def, not your typical sauce (I think it's better) but I noticed its got the smallest little kick. It's not overpowering but imo, pairs well with the other accompanying toppings. Additionally, the pizza isn't as thick as you'd normally expect it to be and when I reached a good stopping point after a few slices, I didn't feel stuffed or bloated. After eating all I could, I asked for a to-go box. Overall, I couldn't have been more pleased with the service, the staff, and more importantly, the food. Pizza was cold, black bean dip was cold. Stale chips, pizza sauce was like bland salsa.

Was excited to try it with the only other pizza nearby being Pointers which is no good. Unfortunately it was somehow worse than Pointers and way too expensive for what it is. If you're in the area you could get a pizza from Pastaria or Dewey's for about the same price or less and it'll be significantly better than this. Bahn Mi Pizza: (One of the worst pizzas I've ever had) The crust was more of a flavorless cracker with some burnt stuff on it and tofu. It was topped with about a 1/2 pound of carrots and nothing else. They must have run out of other ingredients and just hoped for the best. read more

Very vegetarian friendly. The default protein on my pizza was tofu, with the option to switch to chicken. The 9" is almost too big to be a personal pizza (not a complaint). I love the dirty soda and whips. It's nice to have a fun drink out that isnt alcohol centric. Quiet inside, thanks to the large space. read more

My friend and I stopped at Humble Pie on a weekday right at 5pm. I ordered the 9" Wiki Waki Pizza: Grilled pineapple, bacon jam, jalapeno, red sauce, smoked mozzarella. He ordered the 12" Banh Mi Pizza: Sambal coconut cream braised tofu, Thai Peanut Sauce afterbake topped with pickled carrots, radishes, jalapenos and onions, cilantro, shredded cabbage/broccoli blend. We both loved our pizzas. The crust is thin and crisp. The toppings were fresh and plentiful. This place has a great menu. They also serve Dole Whip and Dirty Sodas. If that's not enough it's next door to Hank's Cheesecake. I can't wait to come back and work my way through the menu! read more

Holy moly, this toasted ravioli crust pizza is mind-blowingly good!!! Our family went to Humble Pie Pizza tonight specifically to try their toasted ravioli pizza and we were blown away by how delicious it is. My wife and I were big fans of Bootleggin' 3rd Gear's toasted ravioli pizza they used to serve at 2nd Shift Brewing years ago and I honestly assumed this new place's t-tav pizza would likely not stack up to it. I was hoping it would be good but had no expectation it would *as good*. It surpassed the other pizza by a long shot. It's a masterpiece (no pun intended)! I guess I didn't hear that the crust was made of *actual* toasted ravioli, so that was a surprise and blew me away. We went with the traditional meat (beef & sausage?) t-rav variety of pizza. Everything else we had with dinner was also great, but man oh man, that pizza... a true masterpiece. read more

This toasted ravioli pizza was delicious. It comes in a rectangle on the smaller side and is very rich. It would pair nicely with salad ( which I didn't get) . It REALLY tastes like T Ravs. I was thinking marinara sauce should go with it. The bbq chicken with caramelized onions was also a cut above. 12 inch for about 22$ Again it's very filling. Toppings are loaded- no skimping. We got them to go but it would be great to eat there with salad. read more

Food is ok, Caprese salad wasn't what I was expecting...didn't have any cheese? Also kind of salty. Burger was very peppery and hard like a hockey puck. I did have the black bean burger before and that was decent. Ordered carry out at 12:00 on a Sunday and the doors were still locked when we picked up our order at 12:20 ish. We had carry out food from Humble Pie on Saturday night. Great pizza and delicious Caesar salad salad. We ordered the Roco 12" Pizza. It had a thin, crispy crust with red sauce on to0, tasty cheese, and a flavorful Italian sausage, The website does not allow for customization of pizzas, but when picking up our order we discussed with the staff and they said you can call your order in and they will hold or add items on your pizza as desired. For a couple weeks I've driven past this new pizza and ice cream shop and I finally had time to stop in for some dinner & a treat! They are serving the absolute best Margherita pizza I've ever tasted. The people there were so nice & attentive, you can tell they're excited to get people in the door & fed! The front facade is what looks to be an ice cream shop but the dining room is spacious and warm with plenty of seating and nice decor. We got to the restaurant early and there was only one other family there. But within 15 minutes, the place completely filled up!
