Little crow
Shu S.

I was walking one evening at a school park and found an injured fledgling crow on the grass. The little guy could barely move and couldn't fly, and looked to be very hurt. I called HAS, but they were closed so I called the non-emergency police line, and they were able to connect me to Mr. Ramirez. Despite being off hours, he still showed up and was very kind and was able to take the little fledgling back to the center the next day. I received a very nice update today that the little guy is going to make it. Turned out he was extremely dehydrated and quite down. Thank you Mr. Ramirez and HAS for your great work and empathy.

Thanks for helping the poor little guy.

Thank you Officer Ramirez for your kindness and empathy towards the poor stray cat with the severe leg injury. You made it easy to find the little guy some help.

Loose dogs just roam freely as HAS refused to assist

Overall, in terms of competition with other big box pet stores, which I usually don't support when…read moreit comes to aquarium pets, this location is by far the best. You can obviously tell that they have a dedicated staff to the aquatic section that actually care about what they're doing and go out of their way to keep everything clean, neat, organized, and for the most part the stock is healthy and there's a great variety. The store gets a high rating when it's compared to other big box companies that are similar to it, but my only grievance and the reason why it didn't get five stars is because they have an in-store policy where they try to tell you that they can't sell any pets or aquatics one hour prior to closing. As somebody who used to work in these kinds of stores, I understand that closing is sometimes hectic when still having to tend to customers and anyone would love to be able to get their closing routines done by closing, but that's not how business works. In a perfect world as a prior employee that would've been awesome to be able to clock out once the doors close but once the store closes, that is when the closing routine and taking care of all the animals for the night is supposed to begin. During operating hours, sales should never stop. So although it can be extremely annoying when customers show up late or close to closing, sometimes that's all people can do depending on their work shift and they're trying to make it to the store before it closes. An average person might think, just come the next day when they're open, but when it comes to first come first serve on certain fish that are already hard to find, you want to be able to get what you can find as soon as possible before someone else comes before you. A pretty long grievance, yes, but I like to be thorough lol

Leaving this review because the past two times I've booked appointments for my dogs, Petco groomers…read morehave rescheduled the appointment twice. First time the groomer was "sick" and I got rescheduled for like a week later and then the groomer "had to have emergency surgery" meaning I had to get rescheduled again. More recently I had an appointment for grooming and was called the day of and told that the "air conditioning was broken and it was too hot to do appointments". I was rescheduled for today and was called again because this time "the groomer has norovirus". I will not be rescheduling again. The individuals running this grooming department are either the unluckiest and unhealthiest individuals alive, or flat lying and I'd bet on the latter at this point. Don't waste your time trying to schedule here. I also book with any groomer and not a specific individual. 2 stars because when they have been groomed the dogs looked decent.

Now with the new owners, the quality of product and customer service is in the toilet. Someone picked up a mouse for me and accidentally told them a rat. I immediately brought it back to them with the receipt and they refused to exchange it for a mouse. They made me purchase another one and then refused to take the rat back. What am I supposed to do with this rat? I've also purchased two lamps from them recently and had a very similar experience. They test it before you leave to make sure it works bc there's no return on lights. It works when they test it and in both cases, the light burnt out in less than a week. They're clearly using the lamps for other things (chickens and other reptiles) and putting those bulbs back in the boxes then pulling this no return BS. Don't trust these people, go to literally anywhere else unless you like wasting your time and money

We got our french bulldog from Joe in 2012. She has been perfectly healthy and according to our…read morevet, does not suffer from any of the typical health issues that come with the breed - except allergies. That said, the vet office was full of red itchy bulldogs the first time we went for a visit. This is not a reflection of the breeder, but a issue that is common with almost all frenchies. A bulldog is a labor of love and anyone who purchases a one should be fully aware that they cost more and are more labor intensive for this reason - but they are Oh, so worth it. We love our bully and my interaction with Joe was professional and he was quick to follow up about our dogs allergies when we had to make changes to her diet. He is very knowlegable about the breed and is happy to help you after you go home with your dog. He was prompt in returning my emails and phone calls and provided food and training recommendations. After changing the type of food we were feeding our dog, her allergies are now limited to seasonal ones and I cannot remember the last time we had to visit the vet. I also want to add that I was impressed with the behavior of all of Joe's dogs when we went to pick up our dog. They were well behaved and docile - this is so important as the first few months really shape the temperment of a puppy. It is so important when you select a stronger breed like a bulldog that they are well cared for and trained properly. For this reason, I greatly disagree with the review below for several reasons. I have purchased a dog from a low quality breeder and have dealt with all kinds of behavioral issues as a result. This dachshund breeder gave us a puppy that was too young and has had lasting behavioral issues because of this. Therefor, I was very conscious to observe how the dogs were being cared for and observe the behavior of Joe's adult dogs, personal dogs as well as the puppies for sale. We were allowed to see all of the dogs, however, it is generally not a good idea to meet your potential puppy with 10 other dogs present. For this reason, Joe let out a few puppies for us to observe and also allowed the mother and a couple of adult dogs out out so we could observe their interactions. Joe also helped facilitate as we observed how each dog interacted with our children. As the reviewer stated below about the dogs not being "ready"- If a breeder says that a puppy is not ready, you should listen to that, as taking a puppy from their litter too early can have disasterous effects on their behavior. Health issues are common with bulldogs and one should be prepared to have more vet bills for this reason. This is not always due to breeding, but has to do with the fact that they have short muzzles and have breathing problems as a result. Our vet, who specializes in brachycephalic breeds, said that it is important to keep your dog at a healthy weight, something Joe also recommended, due to having a shorter snout as it will help mitigate breathing issues. If any dog does have major defects, Joe stands behind his dogs as stated in his contract. A high quality breeder provides ongoing support after you take your dog home and I appreciate the help Joe provided in helping us identify our dogs food allergy and the numerous recommendations he made about different kinds of food. I highly recommend Left Coast Bulldogs if you are considering getting a Frenchie.

Recently got some pea puffers and was in need of snails to feed them. I walked in and was immediately taken back by all of the tanks in the store. Tons of really well taken care of BEAUTIFUL bettas. And lots of happy fish. I spoke with the worker asking if he can source a specific fish for me and he gave me some really great info and I'll be reaching back out to them soon about it. Before leaving, he handed me the bag of snails and said he didn't have much left and that I could take the for free. Such a super kind gesture. Have a feeling I'll be a regular here. A couple weeks ago I went back to purchase a betta but after learning my aquarium had only been cycling for 4 days he sent me home with goldfish to assist with the needed beneficial bacteria. No charge!!! Wow. Who does that? Well they have a customer for life now...and I plan to pay it forward by returning these fish so someone else can also benefit. Its a small place in a strip mall but they have fresh and saltwater fish. They don't have a large selection of aquarium decor but the fish are healthy and the service is professional and much appreciated. Masks are required. Gotta respect that.
