Fenwick as a brand has 8 locations across the country and was founded here in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This location is their flagship. The store has entrances on street level (Northumberland Street) as well as entrances from the mall. The store is open until 7 pm on most days, although opening hours can vary, this means they're generally open an hour later than John Lewis, which is the mall's other main department store. The store is fairly attractive, with modern and older parts and the selection again is reasonable. The renovation is starting to show which is ongoing to celebrate the store's 140th anniversary. The Food Hall area reminded me a little of a smaller version of Harrods, pricey for sure but they had a variety of items appearing to be high-quality, including some meats which looked of a fantastic quality. I much prefer the technology section at John Lewis nearby, however - although Fenwick for sure wins on the Food Hall side of things. 4*

Decoration and cleanliness were more than acceptable. Despite our close proximity to a busy road, sound-proofing was very good and we were not disturbed by traffic noise. The main reception is in the inn and access to the accomodation block required the use of your room key-card on the front door. Breakfast is self service in the inn and and although it is described as continental, it includes fresh fruit yoghurt and cereals in addition to the continental norm of fruit juice, tea/coffee and croissants etc. The Innkeepers Lodge website offers standard room pricing which is competitive and includes a continental breakfast .it also offers three nights for the price of two at weekends which makes them a bit of a bargain compaired to similar travel Inn/lodge establishments. This is the first Innkeeper Lodge I have used so I cannot comment on them generally but if they all approach the standard of the Falcon's Nest I would gladly give an overall recommendation. As it is I can only speak for this establishment which I highly recommend.

It was known as intu Eldon Square between 2013 and 2020 but following the collapse of intu, it has returned to its original name of Eldon Square. At the time of writing, Eldon Square is the 15th largest shopping centre in the country in terms of retail size, there is a much larger shopping centre, Metrocentre around a 10-15 minute drive away, but despite being smaller, I prefer Eldon Square, I still think the mall is a good size and it just seemed to have a better atmosphere, being in the city centre too rather than a soulless out of town mall. The mall has a great number of stores and brands including anchor retailers Fenwick, John Lewis and Marks and Spencer. Other brands located here include Apple, Boots, H&M, Next, Rituals and the major mobile phone/telecommunications networks. For food and drink, you have the likes of Starbucks, Nando's, Pizza Express, Ask Italian, Wagamama and TGI Fridays. The mall staff were friendly, and while there wasn't really anyone dotted around the mall, the help desk was easily to find so I could seek assistance finding a store. The layout of the mall is a little confusing and I think makes it seem bigger than it actually is - it can be quite a trek from the Bus Station to the Apple end of the mall. I do think the stores do shut a little early for the centre of a big city, between Monday and Saturday, the mall shuts at 7 pm, with some stores shutting as early as 6 pm including John Lewis. Thursday is an exception, where all stores tend to remain open until 8 pm, and Sunday is bound by Sunday trading laws so there's not much they can do there. 4* -

The store is over four floors and features good facilities that you would expect from any John Lewis department store including a Cafe, toilets, as well as a selection of men's and womenswear, as well as a selection for home furnishing and technology. The staff seem friendly enough when you're able to find someone. 4* - A good store, do be warned it does close very early though, as of October 2022, it closes at 6 pm between Monday and Saturday, and even earlier on Sundays, which is strange for such a large store.

I was proven wrong however by the huge branches of John Lewis, Fenwick and Marks & Sparks later in the centre. The mens department is large and they have the best selection out of any New Look store I've visited. Most city centre stores are messy, claustrophobic and dark but this new shop is bright, fabulous and modern. It is on 3 floors and there is easy access between them with a staircase, escalators and even a lift providing access to the upper floors. (Unlike the old store) The accessories bit is great as well and I always end up making some last minute purchases when I'm queuing! Not a great layout. I read an article that shops put the essentials at the back/on a high floor so that you go through the whole shop. Well it certainly works alright!

Beware this company. I returned goods to them within 14 days. They tried to claim that the return…read morewas after 14 days, and provided store credit instead of a refund. Luckily I had tracked the delivery of the item via Royal Mail, and therefore have sufficient proof to commence legal action for recovery of the funds if required. The item itself was of poor quality - I returned it as it was obvious that the zip was cheap and liable to break. Charging £75 of an item made in Turkey, and selling locally for around £20. I would imagine they catch a lot of people out with their "store credit" scam. AVOID AVOID AVOID. UPDATE: Incredibly, despite my highlighting their legal obligations under the Distance Selling regulations, and the promises on their own website to refund (see http://www.urbancelebrity.com/returns-details-i44), and despite my providing the tracking reference for delivery of the item, the vendor has still refused my request for a refund. My next step is to lodge a claim via Paypal. Very likely they will refund the payment (Visa and Mastercard would with this weight of evidence). In the unlikely event that they don't, I will need to go the small claims court.
