Fenwick as a brand has 8 locations across the country and was founded here in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This location is their flagship. The store has entrances on street level (Northumberland Street) as well as entrances from the mall. The store is open until 7 pm on most days, although opening hours can vary, this means they're generally open an hour later than John Lewis, which is the mall's other main department store. The store is fairly attractive, with modern and older parts and the selection again is reasonable. The renovation is starting to show which is ongoing to celebrate the store's 140th anniversary. The Food Hall area reminded me a little of a smaller version of Harrods, pricey for sure but they had a variety of items appearing to be high-quality, including some meats which looked of a fantastic quality. I much prefer the technology section at John Lewis nearby, however - although Fenwick for sure wins on the Food Hall side of things. 4*

They also sell Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren and Fred Perry. The store is very spacious and has 2 floors. Although the items Eleven sell are undeniable quality the same can not be said for the lethargic customer service, their depleted stock levels and their online presence. On numerous occasions I have browsed their website, viewed an item I would like to purchase (with the website clearly stating the availability of the item including different sizes), only to find upon arrival to the physical store that they have sold out of the item, even though the website states the item is in stock. For example I wished to purchase a Paul Smith jumper, the website said the jumper was available in small, medium, large and extra large, however when I entered the tangible store Eleven only had medium in stock. I do question whether the relevant clothing is actually available in Eleven or just a marketing ploy to attract customers to buy other related items. Another issue I had was with the websites misrepresentation of their opening times. The website states the opening times as 9 - 5:30 Monday to Saturday. However based on past experience the shop does not open until 9:30, what poor service. In conclusion to this review I would recommend not using their online presence as an indicator on their stock levels/opening times, rather to phone the shop directly to make enquiries. Accommodation is in a modern, self contained two storey block with ample parking. Our room was…read morereasonably spaceous, well equiped, and had a good en-suite. Decoration and cleanliness were more than acceptable. Despite our close proximity to a busy road, sound-proofing was very good and we were not disturbed by traffic noise. The main reception is in the inn and access to the accomodation block required the use of your room key-card on the front door. Breakfast is self service in the inn and and although it is described as continental, it includes fresh fruit yoghurt and cereals in addition to the continental norm of fruit juice, tea/coffee and croissants etc. The Innkeepers Lodge website offers standard room pricing which is competitive and includes a continental breakfast .it also offers three nights for the price of two at weekends which makes them a bit of a bargain compaired to similar travel Inn/lodge establishments. This is the first Innkeeper Lodge I have used so I cannot comment on them generally but if they all approach the standard of the Falcon's Nest I would gladly give an overall recommendation. As it is I can only speak for this establishment which I highly recommend.

The staff seem friendly enough when you're able to find someone. 4* - A good store, do be warned it does close very early though, as of October 2022, it closes at 6 pm between Monday and Saturday, and even earlier on Sundays, which is strange for such a large store.

I find the shopping centre in Newcastle way too big and sometimes just want to grab and go. The layout of John Lewis certainly allows this, and the store displays are always tip top. What is my absolute favourite thing to do here is go round the make up counters, which makes me feel like a princess because everything is so shiny and lovely and nice. Once again, huge props to the staff here, they have always been lovely to me and more than willing to have a natter if they aren't busy.
