My goal: Strength Training…read more My experience: DTFC is filled with great coaches. However, if your goal is 'strength training' and you're looking for a personal trainer who provides you with an actual strength training plan (tracking weights, tracking sets, details your splits), I recommend having a very forward conversation with them or going elsewhere. Their marketing online for 'strength training' is misleading. While the website states you'll receive a customized training plan before you start, what they mean is the plan is day-of. When I asked about whether I would receive a copy of my strength training program, I was told it's provided by-day and day-of. And was told some sort of version of it being up to clients to lead on what they want. Even though I emphasized my goal was strength training and the website stated personalized training plans. You pay for that to be the coaches responsibility, so that was incredibly irritating. Not once did any coach record my sets, weight progression, or give me a proper training split. Anyone familiar with strength training knows that this is standard, bare-minimum practice. Anytime I overlapped with other clients, it seemed like our workouts were pretty similar, if not identical. From day one, I emphasized my goal was not weight loss, but strength training. Yet, anytime I was given monthly photos, under goals they listed weight loss. At times, though not always, the gym felt like a glorified weight loss gym with unsolicited diet advice. The prices are steep, especially when you're not given a copy of any sort of plan to help you track your progress. You do have monthly check-ins, but the emphasis is on body fat percentage and weight loss. Again, irritating when your goal is strength training. Deceptive contract: Thoroughly read the contract, cancellation fees are insanely steep. It's very easy for your membership to just renew and role-over. Perhaps that's why they don't provide clients a physical or digital copy of a personalized, set-month training program. The goal is to just keep you there, why would they give you a program with an end date? Again, this gym has great individuals and coaches, but it's incredibly hard to feel like the money I spent was even well spent. It's hard to trust trainers and gyms as is due to the wellness and fitness industry being misleading, so this experience felt like it eroded trust in the industry even further. Give it a chance, but with caution

I have going to HOTWORKX for a few months now and I have been extremely impressed with everything…read more I was originally skeptical of a infrared studio but after my first Hot Cycle class I was sold on the concept. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. Every time I have walked into the studio I have been greeted with a hello or welcome. They have 8 saunas, the first four saunas are set up for isometric workouts like Hot Buns, Hot Bands, Hot Yoga, etc. The last four saunas are set up for H.I.T workouts, they have two Hot Cycle saunas and two Hot Blast (cycle workout that involves arm movements). Because of Covid-19 it's one person (plus a family/friend if you feel comfortable working out with them in an in closed space) per sauna. The saunas are big enough and normally set up for three people to workout together. If you are looking for a place to workout then I would highly recommend HOTWORX. The rates are really reasonably and they have a family package deal also. Plus the first workout is free.

I have been VERY careful about going out in public because of…read moreCovid restrictions, and I cancelled gym memberships out of precaution, but Hotworx's social distancing workouts have been great for my physical and mental health during the pandemic. There are 8 saunas at Hotworx that have a three-person capacity for workouts, but during the Covid-19 emergency, rooms are restricted to one person or two people from the same household. Each sauna has a 15 or 45 minute block of exercise. There are 10 different workouts to choose from. Two of the workouts are 15-minute HIIT workouts on stationary bikes, and the other 8 are 30-45 minute isometric workouts. The saunas are open 24 hours a day. Each workout is taught by a virtual instructor. Each of the 10 workouts is the same for a few months, but if you alternate the workouts you do each day, you'll get plenty of variety. As for the saunas - I was skeptical of the benefits that were being promoted, but consider me a believer now. I feel really great during after each workout. My criticisms of Hotworx: I am thrilled that masks are required in common areas, but not all members are good about following the rules when the gym is not staffed. This has improved recently, however. Also, the Hotworx app to track calories can be buggy. First workout is free, and I recommend checking out Hotworx.
