This clinic is garbage. My dog was lame and I brought him in several times but was told he has…read morearthritis. Very short, hardly any hands on done by the female vet. I finally took him to another vet clinic in Cedar Falls after he could no longer get up. They found he had torn both of his ACLs and that they were most likely partially torn for a long time but since he wasn't rested, they blew. I was told to WALK him, to strengthen his joints and keep weight off. So now we need a TPLO on both legs. There is a test called the drawer test for an ACL tear, she just didn't do it. My dog also had a dental there and needed a mass removed in his mouth that was supposed to be biopsied - but they didn't send it in and said it isn't anything cancerous. He now has a growth all along his back jaw where this original growth was just months earlier. I have to pay to have him put under, again, because the doc didn't do her job. My new vet asked for the dental x-rays that are part of a dental exam and cleaning done at Highview, but they said they don't do dental xrays. But never told be this and I assumed it was done as xrays are always part of a dental. And that's not all! This doc also assumed my dog could have a heart issue so gave me Lasixs with no diagnostics to confirm congestive heart failure. Which is why you would give Lasixs - to get fluid off the heart. My new vet said to stop those immediately as it could harm him. We took imaging of his heart at my new vet - its fine. I'm beyond angry at this lazy and incompetent vet. I am reporting all of this to the AVMA and hope she loses her license as she should not be in practice. I want to write this to prevent anyone else pet from going through the same. I have not had the male vet that is there; only the female.

The violations include puppies with horrible gum disease, rusty wire enclosures and brown grime, puppies with worn toe pads resulting in pain, expired medications, and puppies with clogged ears. Our family purchased a dog from this farm in 2023 and he had worms. This stunted his growth and he likely would've died if we hadn't stepped in. After curing his worms, he had an undiagnosable cough that lingered for months. PETA stepped in last year to urge the Grundy county attorney to take action and unfortunately they haven't. This year we learned they transitioned to Avenue which was fine (at least we thought). I called the emergency number and was called back by a vet in Charles City. She let me know that there was nothing they could do also informed me that they haven't seen my parents dog in three years so again they would do nothing. I upset, let her know that my two dogs would no longer be needing their care, and hung up the phone. I was sitting with my parents dog, calling vet after vet asking for help, when I received a call back from Avenue. The woman on the phone stated she was a manager and wanted to talk about my "negative experience". This was 20 minutes after the last woman told me they haven't seen the pupper in three years so basically tough luck. Mind you I am sitting with a dying dog, and the "manager" just wanted to go through their new policies. She didn't call to try to help us at all or show any empathy or a solution just wanted to CYA. If you are considering this vet or currently using this vet, I recommend you look elsewhere. We were able to find a vet to come out and help our boy over the rainbow bridge, but not with Avenue. Their attitude, lack of empathy, and unprofessionalism made this experience so terrible. Just know that if it is not office hours they do not care at all. I will never let my puppers set foot in this place again. It's corporate now, so they wanted to let me know that if I could let our pet suffer until Tuesday (it's Sunday as I write this) that maybe someone could help him. Why even be a vet if you don't care about animals and are fine with them suffering for days?
