Hudson River from Fort Washington Park, NYC
    Bruce K.

The Hudson River extends more than 300 miles from Upstate New York to its mouth between New York City and Jersey City where it empties ito the Upper New York Bay. The river serves as a political boundary between the states of New Jersey and New York at its southern end. Farther north, it marks local boundaries between several New York counties. The lower half of the river is a tidal estuary, deeper than the body of water into which it flows, occupying the Hudson Fjord, an inlet which formed during the most recent period of North American glaciation, estimated at 26,000 to 13,300 years ago. Even as far north as the city of Troy, the flow of the river changes direction with the tides. The Hudson River is named after Henry Hudson, an Englishman sailing for the Dutch East India Company who explored it in 1609, and after whom Hudson Bay in Canada is also named. It had previously been observed by Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano sailing for King Francis I of France in 1524, as he became the first European known to have entered the Upper New York Bay, but he considered the river to be an estuary. I've been along the Hudson from Manhattan to the Rip Van Winkle Bridge in Catskill and past it to Troy and Cohoes. It's beautiful in many places and truly scenic. Take some time to appreciate this amazing waterway. [Review 15648 overall - 245 in New York - 1152 of 2021.]

Hudson River 11/08/2020 My apartment is across Central Park from the West Side where the Hudson River can be seen. I walk across and when I get to the river I head South. One time I walked all the way to Battery Park. Since it was early morning and clear skies I packed snacks and drinks to last the day. I try to keep to areas frequented by the neighborhood residents. There's spots that get a little desolate. I post photos to the Yelp Page for each of the spots I visit. I stop to photograph playgrounds, piers, ducks and more. I take photos of the Jersey side of the river too. I really don't know what I'm taking photos of. I like the architecture and view. It's different than the NYC skyline. I'm so glad someone had the forethought to create recreational spaces for joggers and walkers to be close to the water. There's so much fun for residents in neighborhoods located adjacent to the river. It's cooler near the water on hot Summer Days too. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. I'm also posting a photo of my adopted daughter taken in Winter. There's always occasions to enjoy being near the river no matter what season. Just remember if you feel like a hike where you are not obstructed by traffic, and intersections holding you up, take a long walk along Hudson River. The parks are free. You have beautiful views, entertaining activities and I'm sure you will find food vendors and restaurants along the way.

What can I say about it. It's sometimes beautiful to view. One of my friends went fishing in the Hudson River and when he turned out the lights the fish glowed in the dark. I advised him not to eat it because I thought if a fish glowed with all of those colors of the rainbow it might make him very sick. Good thing he took my advice. The Hudson River is still romantic to look at but never going swimming in it you might not come out alive. This is a picture of my Cousin Adrienne Thomas (top left) and my Grandmother Fannie E. I am so enamored with the Hudson River as it is, indeed, spectacular. A river that flows 315 miles (507 km.) from north to south primarily through eastern New York (source: Wikipedia) passing through Poughkeepsie of Dutchess County towards Bear Mountain entering to Lower Manhattan, NYC. Originates from Adirondack Mountains, New York. In my past travels via MTA Metro North Railroad on the Hudson Line the Hudson River is scenic beautiful with nature unscathed full of wetlands, marshes, and estuary. The further north one travels the river is scenic beautiful and a maritime environmental importance unlike the view in Manhattan, NYC where it is polluted and tainted by man. A phlegmatic state to ponder one's thoughts. For the artist or nature enthusiast within do bring cameras, sketch pads, paint brushes, or notebook to scribe poetry while you are in the Adirondack Mountains or Bear Mountain, NY.

But Madison Square will always be my favorite. It's kept fairly clean and is a nice size. Mostly for the working professionals and students in the area, it's an awesome spot to eat lunch, with a great food selection in Flat Iron. It's home to the OG Shake Shack, which stands there til this day. There is also an awesome dog park there. This park is great at all times of the year, so don't hesitate to go now.

Besides that, I never paid much mind to the park, especially in light of the fact that it's not in my stomping grounds. Nevertheless, I had just finished brunching nearby and since it was such a gorgeous day out, I decided to take a walk through the park and check it out. MSP is not large - the center of it is a large green space with paths on the perimeter that contain walking paths and benches. In addition to the Shake Shack, there's also a small seating area nearby where you can sit and eat, or just hang out. The park is ideal of people watching, eating your lunch, or just walking around a space that contrasts the hustle and bustle of the surrounding areas. Because of the weather, it was a little crowded but still pleasant. Overall, MSP is fine - it's not worth coming to unless you're in the area IMO, but a pleasant spot nonetheless.

We were on our 4th game of 5 on 5 on this slanted, slippery court with double rims as the Midtown skyline looked over us. We had gone 3-0 and already on wobbly legs but wanted one more to really push ourselves to exhaustion and be WHOOPED. A group of 5 17 year olds showed up and I was lowkey like damn I don't wanna play these little kids for our last game but whatever, they got next. We were going back and forth, and to be fair they were actually pretty good but just too frail to give us any problems. At 5'10 174 lbs, I'm a BIG guard. I'm left handed, but shot a right handed floater fading to my right as I'm trying to get better. If you can hit a weak hand floater on the run you will be tough to stop. I bricked it and this little 17 year old kid goes "that's a TERRIBLE shot" looking at me dead in the eyes. Like bro y'all are losing and you suck why you talking? He woke me up and I started actually trying really hard and lowkey busting their ass... but tbh normally I'm not even that good. It was just one of those days where everything was falling. I hit a 3 and yelled out "THAT'S A LAYUP." I drove hard left, euro stepped and hit a tough finish through 2 and yelled "I"M TOO BIG," while flexing. I switched onto little homie and he took a terrible stepback shot after I turned him 3 times and bricked it. I just whispered to him "I don't even gotta say nothing after that one it speaks for itself" which really pissed him off. Then I hit the game winning 3 and did the Dame wave to him as he walked off the court PISSED as hell. I sat down and then he got the courage to say "STOP TALKING SO MUCH" while he put his hand together to mimic me YAPPING. I almost stood up and said "HOW BOUT U GET WIN?" But then I realized I'm a grown ass man and there is absolutely no reason to be jawing at this little kid on a beautiful Friday in New York City. I just kind of laughed at myself and asked what is wrong with me lol. All in all, these runs were kind of weak and this court is in horrendous condition. The court on the westside highway is still my favorite in the city. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews
