I've gone to Loew's for the Jersey Journal's 150th anniversary celebration during which the movie 'His Girl Friday' was screened and there was an organ mini-concert. I also saw Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile at Loew's back in November. I recommend checking it out for the programming, but also to see some beautiful architecture inside. Plus, for the most part, the events are very affordable. It's a unique experience.

Updated review: Still not a fan of the personal bag check, but I'm bumping up my rating thanks to…read moresome clear upgrades since my last review. The electric recliners with built-in trays are seriously comfortable, and the theater is consistently clean and far less chaotic than most Manhattan spots. The screen and sound pack a punch, and the location--tucked into a newly energized corner of Battery Park City--makes it easy to pair your movie with a great meal or drink nearby. That said, finding the place is its own mini-quest. You have to weave through the Conrad Hotel and ride what feels like a pilgrimage of escalators (especially when the elevators are down... which is often). Overall, a solid movie night once you actually get there.

The seating has always been pretty nice , to me much nicer than most AMC theaters except maybe Dolby. This does seem like a premier seating experience at least sometimes, it does. The theater has always been a good time with friendly staff and nice looking theaters but union square and Times Square regular are closer and more regular options for me. I look forward to actually coming back here soon though, hopefully an early 2026 visit once the calendar does change this time.

The butterfly house was definitely a highlight for me. It's a really nice walk-through space with butterflies flying all around you, and some even land on you which made it feel really special. The chick hatchery was also really cool. Being able to see chicks hatch in real time is not something you get to experience often, and it's a great learning moment without feeling like a "lesson." There were also a lot of animals to see throughout the exhibits. We saw everything from turtles and snakes to more unique ones like Madagascar cockroaches. The kids were really into it and spent a lot of time just watching them. They also had the Easter Bunny there which was a nice bonus, and the photo is free which is always a plus. We made sure to check out SUE the T. rex before it leaves, it's huge and definitely worth seeing at least once. There's also a Daniel Tiger exhibit that's great for younger kids, especially if they just want to play and explore. Overall, it was a really fun and easy day with the kids. I like that it's a mix of fun and learning, and there's enough to keep everyone entertained for a few hours. Definitely worth visiting, especially while this event is still running.

Overall, we had a good experience, though it definitely felt more geared toward older children than very young ones. There is an interactive room designed for younger kids, which we appreciated. We tried the planetarium, but unfortunately my son didn't enjoy it--the images moving toward him scared him. Luckily, the show was only about 20 minutes long. Highlights: the "ice" rink (big win with the kids), a hands-on chromatography experiment where I learned about capillary action, and an air spout exhibit with a floating ball that my son couldn't get enough of. There were also animals and insects on display, which added some variety. Overall, we enjoyed the experience, but it did feel a bit expensive when you factor everything in. Admission for two with the planetarium ($8) was $73, and between driving, tolls, paid parking ($7), and heavy traffic on the way back to Westchester, it added up quickly. It's a fun and educational spot, especially for older kids, but the cost and travel make it more of an occasional visit for us.

When he checked our tickets, he surprised us with an upgrade that truly enhanced our evening. After the movie, we expressed our gratitude and were deeply impressed by his professional and humble demeanor. His exceptional service made our visit memorable, and we will certainly make IPIC our primary theater moving forward.

The staff came across as nonchalant and not very engaged, which set the tone right away. The food didn't help either--the spicy tuna was completely flavorless, not crispy and the drinks were underwhelming. We also weren't told ahead of time that you have to pick up your food and drinks yourself, which was surprising since we're used to full service at your seat. On the positive side, the popcorn and truffle fries were decent, but everything else fell short. The seats were just okay--not particularly comfortable. The bathroom situation was also frustrating--it's located upstairs near the restaurant and wasn't well maintained. There were no paper towels, and overall cleanliness was lacking. Overall, this felt like a subpar experience, and I won't be returning. My cousin mentioned the New Jersey location is much better, so maybe it's just this one--but based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it.

There's a few issues here and a few fantastic things and I think the easiest way is to list them by category. The Bad: -Like others, I agree that the seats unfortunately are not that comfortable here. This is by far the biggest issue here and it should have been addressed years ago and I doubt it will be soon -They still show the same extremely annoying metal band shirt advertisement with flashing lights that is annoying every single time I go here -The staff here aren't the nicest but it's a movie theater so I can deal with it The Good: -If you're looking for independent films and foreign films, this is one of if not the best theater to go to -The occasional Q&A I'm able to go to such as most recently for Eephus; which was an excellent existential baseball movie; and the Ukrainian documentary Porcelain War last year are always entertaining and interesting and they don't cost more so I would recommend them -If you're looking to see some form films to fill out your Letterboxd Oscar list or perhaps the shorts or something, they show virtually all of them here -They have some fun midnight screenings and other things such as the obligatory The Room and Rocky Horror Picture Show of course There's a few other theaters that I like going to more but there's occasionally films that you really can't find anywhere else. Combine that with the fact that this place is so convenient that I deal with any of the issues here. If they fix the seats, you can preemptively switch this to five stars but for now, it's a four.

And if you go early-ish it's a mere $10 ticket, sometimes less if you go early-ish and during the week. So no crowds, quick walk, and cheap tickets. Oh and it's always super clean and the seats (although they are not the incredible recliners that some magical theaters are adopting) are very comfortable. So no crowds, quick walk, cheap tickets, super clean and comfortable seats. I am not totally biased, I have my cons. The line for concessions often doubles as the line for tickets, so even if you aren't looking to get something sweet or savory, you still have to wait a bit. But uhhh if you actually can go to the movies and not get popcorn, snowcaps and sour patch kids, I don't think we should be going to movies together... So besides the semi-often combined line and lack of reclining seats, this theater is a Hoboken gem that literally never has crowds, is a quick walk from anywhere in Hoboken, has cheap tickets, is clean and comfortable.
