    Southwestern bowl wow!
    Steven C.

We shared a Southwestern bowl which came with a hot fresh biscuit and gobs of butter. The bowl was tasty and fresh off the grill. I would rate this very highly with any southern cooking in the area, even compared to New Orleans and Mississippi. Coffee is fresh and tasty. Our server was friendly and Helpful. Most highly recommended.

Specials menu (wish I saw it before we ordered, lol)

We are not familiar with Huddle House, but spotted it as we were driving through. I would describe their menu and operation as a Denny's, except you seat yourself. Their motto is: Any Meal. Any Time. I'm always a fan of eating breakfast for dinner and a steak at 3am. We love diners so we thought this would be perfect for us. This place was packed. They only had 3 tables available when we arrived and no obvious signage to seat yourself, just someone hollering it out. We sat waiting on someone to take our drink order for a really, really long time. It was at least 15 minutes, and that person asked if we were ready to order, which we were. Our drinks came pretty quickly after that, but the wait on food was a while. This was expected since it was busy, but we ended up being there for almost an hour and a half, which was way longer than we had intended to be off the road. The quality of the food was a little hit or miss. I had ordered the Crispy Chicken Club for $8.19 which the menu stated comes with Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar, lettuce, pickle chips, tomato and Chipotle mayo on brioche bun with fries. I had asked for regular mayo as the only substitution and pickles on the side. She stated all the veggies were on the side, and I said that was great. What I actually got was one piece of lettuce with a smear of butter on it and a sad, soggy, mushy tomato slice. The chicken was a frozen patty I would expect from the value menu at a fast food chain. I felt I overpaid for this meal by at least $2. However, my husband's burger really hit the spot and fit with our expectations of a diner a lot more. He got the HuddleBurger with bacon and cheese on a sesame bun for $7.99 and felt this was a good deal for the price. The burgers are on the small size, but they do supplement by making them all doubles. The fries were advertised as lightly seasoned, which they were and they were pretty good. After we ordered I spotted a smaller, second menu advertising 10 different meals for $4.99. That's crazy cheap, so maybe this is more like a Waffle House? Desserts are the most reasonable in price that I've ever seen at a diner chain, all were in the $2-5 range. Unfortunately, we spent so much time here, we didn't have more to spend, so I didn't have a chance to sample them. Now that I know what to expect of this chain, I would say the visit averaged out to A-OK. I would try another location when travelling to take advantage of a special and some dessert!

Driving by and need to fill up on gas. We saw lots of cars parked outside so we thought it might be a good place to stop for dinner. This is kinda like ihop/Denny's type places. They serve breakfast all day. You can see the kitchen where they cook so that's a plus. But you can also see the filthy floors too. I had the grilled chicken salad and my hubby got the chili cheese. The boys ate the usual grilled cheese and cheeseburger. My salad was surprisingly good. Hubby ate up all his chili so it must be good too. their fries were cooked really well. I could've given this a 5 stars if these floors weren't so dirty.

I like the chopped steak and the green beans. After some time on the road, this goes down well.

The food is okay but I've been sitting here for an hour and I still haven't gotten my food. They need to work on their time management.

This visit, I ordered the eggplant appetizer and was given a choice of sauces. The marinara sauce won. For lunch I ordered the lasagna with meatballs. My dining companion ordered colossal burger with onion rings. OMG. I want to move in here. The sauce is homemade, the lasagna homemade and the crust on the garlic bread made in house. The colossal burger was perfectly cooked according to request, but the meat was very well flavored with good, crispy bacon. My eggplant appetizer was crispy and perfectly fried served with that great sauce for dipping. The lasagna- so good. Perfectly balanced with noodles and contents. The meatball was delicious with a hint of sweetness to it. The dessert list was long and looked fantastic. All were made in house. The service was top notch and the chef delightful. Make your way here but don't pass it!

The beet salad is quite good. The pizza is solid. The desserts are tasty. There are always lots of specials to go along with the regular menu fare. It honestly reminds me of a New Jersey-style diner doing its thing in rural Florida. The friendly service is top-notch, no long wait for drinks, refills, etc.

We were passing through the area, on the hunt for breakfast, and were warmly greeted by the staff and patrons. It was a Tuesday around 11am and the place wasn't busy so we sat right down and were served immediately. Cute country vibes all around! My husband got the scramble with sausage and grits and ate as much as his elastic belt would allow. I got the Big Grumpy Breakfast with toast and bacon and it was all cooked perfectly. My husband went to the bathroom and left me alone /unsupervised when there was pie & cheesecake available at the register - Silly man. I got a slice of cheesecake and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly chilled, not overly sweet and had a great consistency. The only thing I'm grumpy about after leaving this place is the fact that we don't live closer. Eat here, leave happy!

To our surprise, the non-assuming quiche plate my partner got, and the burger bowl I got, were both delish!! The quiche was simple, but cooked to perfection. It comes with a bowl of side salad with a delicious maple balsamic dressing, a blueberry muffin, and a slice of tomato and lettuce on the plate. The quiche has a nice, homemade crust that's surprising light and just pure goodness. The burger bowl was a deconstructed burger without the bun. I got it with grilled chicken, and it was, of course, cooked to perfection. Juicy and flavorful, which is hard to achieve for most places. The salad was fresh, and the homemade Grumpy's sauce was delicious as well. The waitress was sweet. Service was on point. Price is good. Place is nicely decorated and clean. Both this place and the town of Madison has exceeded our expectations. We will for sure come back when we're around next year.
