Brought friends from Missouri to Huckleberry's and they were very impressed! The coating on the catfish was perfectly seasoned, not too thick! The service was great. Friendly and energetic. They were quick to clean tables preparing for the next guests. Ambiance was shabby chic, emphasis on the shabby. But it was clean, so all is good. We always try to bring company here. We just had supper here tonight. The building is neat and has a beautiful fish pond out front. There are nice murals all around the interior. The tables are dated and the place does have a on air of a bygone area, but it's clean and well taken care of. You can feel the pride taken by the owner and staff. I also want to state that I travel with my Service Dog and this place gets Bailey's 4 paw approval. The buffet is full of southern staples with something for everyone. I sampled the shrimp, gumbo, pickled green tomatoes, hush puppies, baked, filet and steak catfish. The shrimp are peel and eat. They were sweet and perfectly done. The gumbo was tasty, and not spicy (thank heavens, I was able to enjoy it!) The hush puppies where a surprise as they have jalapeno in them. No heat, just flavor. The baked catfish was delicious. Perfectly done, nicely seasoned I really enjoyed it! The filet was my hands down favorite beautiful crust, soft fish, just the way it should be!! The steak was ok. It is just as tasty as the filet, but it has bones. So, no thanks on that one. The pickled green tomatoes were a perfect compliment to the fish! They offer many desserts, the cinnamon rolls are ginourmous and looked delish! Unfortunately my keeper (see medical alert dog) cut me off. I sampled some of the others and enjoyed the ride pudding and bread pudding. I only had a sample of each to keep the master off my back lol. I spoke with the owner and told him how wonderful everything was and he explained that he'd just lost his dad, the original owner and he said he has no plans to change anything. Huckleberry's is an iconic Searcy-area institution, a classic Arkansas catfish house. Many fond memories of this place back to childhood. Unfortunately, the food quality and overall upkeep of the place appears to have slipped considerably in recent years, and it seems like the locals have started to realize it. On a recent visit, the main dining room was barely a quarter full. The only catfish available in the buffet line was the thin, bony cross section of the fish. On this particular visit, they were out of hush puppies. Not just out for the evening, but apparently didn't even have the ingredients to make them. Not sure how that's possible in a catfish restaurant, especially since the catfish dredge is made from virtually identical ingredients. Anyway I hope they get things figured out sooner than later. Huckleberry's is a White County classic and it would be a shame to see it fold. read more

Just ok. There used to be a place like this in every town in Arkansas but as the years have gone so have they. Some are better than others and Huckleberry's falls in the middle. Clean, friendly people, food is hot and fresh. But...as these places go very over priced and the signature item catfish you can get better at a dozen other places around town. read more

Nothing special about this place. Fish was obviously fried in old oil. Had almost a petroleum taste to it. The vegetables were obviously just dumped out of a can and heated. The chicken was decent. I have found much better catfish at convenience stores in the area.The interior is dated, dingy unimpressive except for the family photos. If you are impressed with this place, you can't cook and need to get out more. read more

Drove to Searcy from Jacksonville for the sole purpose of eating here. Well worth the trip!! They charge a 4% service fee if you use a card which wasn't posted anywhere on the website. But---no one in the group complained!! The food was hot and fresh and plentiful !! My family and I went to Huckleberry's Catfish Buffet yesterday evening (5/24/18). The catfish had so much salt on it, you couldn't eat it. The salt box was also poured in the tarter sauce. The little I ate really spiked my blood pressure. The desserts were so dried out they were definitely several days old, they were not fresh at all. The barbecue beans tasted like syrup all I needed was the pancakes. $60.00 wasted. I should have went to Colton's or the Rib Crib. read more

We tried this place for the first time two nights ago. All the food on the buffet was cold. If it had been hot or even warm it would have been a lot better. You could tell it would have been good if it was warm as it should be. We had high hopes for it and were really disappointed that we paid $13 apiece for cold food after a 45 minute drive to get there. Great place. I'm not a huge catfish fan but I eat it because that's all that's available in the area. But when I tell you this season on a catfish, those like my grandma made it. The fried chicken and the chicken strips taste like it was made at home; it's the real deal. They have a really good bread pudding, which is the only place I've ever hated it, and I actually like it especially if I put a little ice cream on top. And my daddy loves this place. I am 50+ years old and have lived in Searcy the very most of those years and have eaten at Huckleberry's on many occasions. My wife and I ate there tonight, I will say I will not return. They have obviously changed ownership. Now no table service, now you have to pay BEFORE you eat (what does that tell you). We investigated this place and decided to stop in for their Thursday buffet that began at 4:00pm. Quite a popular place with senior folk, as there were many waiting for the doors to open and quite a few more arrived before we left. You pay as you go in the front door and then help yourself to the buffet. The fried catfish and slaw were good. However the grilled catfish was too salty and the green beans and turnip greens needed seasoning or at the very least some salt (seemed to just be poured out of a can and heated). Although the fried chicken looked quite appetizing, it was a bit on the dry side and tough. However in all fairness I have found fried chicken at most restaurants where I have had it, to be the same way. Not sure if this has to do with the quality of chicken now being mass produced. I have eaten at many similar types of buffets recently and I must say that although certainly not horrible, a little more attention to detail could make a huge difference. read more

Looks like a church ceremony rather than a restaurant. It was very cold and there needs to be more of a variety food rather than fried food. But overall the food was good, had an amazing taste to it.
