We went in October and still managed to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. The tea rooms are small, but if you are in the area, I suggest you visit. My other half tasted the apple pie too which he assures me was lovely (he wasn't going to share it).

I do recall staggering into them after a night on the shandy, hoping for something to cure a hangover. A pot of their fresh made tea and a mountain of hot buttered toast usually did the trick. These little tea-rooms are clean, bright, superbly run and serve everything to set off a perfect summer's afternoon. Teas, scones (delicious) hot buttered toast (vital) and home-made cakes, along with filled rolls, all make for a perfect snack to enjoy whilst looking out over the bay. When the sun is shining on the waters of the River Dart t's just so beautiful. If you enjoy the castle, then take time out for tea & scones at the tea-rooms to complete the experience.

This puts many off who wander off to return later or settle for lesser venues, but we found that waiting just few minutes meant a table came up as diners squeezed up to let us in. The food is ordered and paid for at the counter and then brought out to you. The cinnamon toast is a speciality that you should have anyway and a great apitiser for the full English breakfast. All the ingredients are top quality; the sausage is a really tasty Lincolnshire, the eggs and tomatoes were perfectly done and the toast was a selection of freshly cut White and granary. I constantly return here as it is so much better then anywhere else I have been for coffee, they know their stuff here unlike some other places like the chain coffee places that sell just a brand but not quality as they are just a franchise with no passion for what they put out the door. I asked for a soy cappuccino, extra hot - it was perfect. Good atmosphere, clean, food looked nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to anybody wanting a nice coffee in Paignton.
