Cute BBQ spot in Hendersonville! Mainly outdoor seating with a walk up window order. So many options from plates, to sandwiches, to sides. I really enjoyed the ribs and the Mustard barbecue sauce! Potato salad was also really good.

Menu

Highly recommend this gem! Prefect place for a pit stop and delicious food. When you walk in, the roosters are crowin' and you can smell the smokiness from the bbq when you step out of the car. Not your average coleslaw and potato salad either- its seasoned well and has all the right amount of tang you want with bbq food. Corn bread was moist, beans were mixed with delicious bbq flavor, green beans have a peanut Thai chili sauce topping and chicken was juicy and smokey. You order the food at the window, so no table service. Utensils, condiments and sauces are all help your self and there are bins near the trash to clear your own table. It's in a beautiful garden where you can tell someone has put thought into and the garden is well taken care of. I would come here again for sure!

This BBQ joint may be off the beaten path, but it is clearly not an undiscovered gem! A 30-minute wait to get to the counter, but about a 5-minute wait for food. The flavor on the ribs was smoky- yet enhanced by the available sauces. The Brunswick Stew was a delicious side, my wife liked the apple slaw, but the potato salad doesn't compare to Mom's. Outdoor and indoor tables made for a very casual ambiance- great for a lazy afternoon lunch. If you're looking for great BBQ, Hubba Hubba is certainly worth a visit.

Side hustler - apple slaw, cornbread, deviled eggs, and cheese grits!

We went here on Monday for lunch. My husband had the pulled pork plate with grits, baked beans, and chips. I ordered the side hustler (3 sides with cornbread or chips). I chose grits, deviled eggs, apple slaw, and cornbread. Wow - the grits here are AMAZING!!! I enjoyed the herbaceous fresh flavors of the deviled eggs (contained dill, whole mustard, and maybe oregano), along with the fennel seed and dill in the slaw. The cornbread also has some herbs in it, along with kernels of white shoe peg corn. My husband loved the barbecue, along with the local blackberry cider. They have great outdoor seating with covered areas, and even a bathroom and hand washing station.

Excellent melt in your mouth smoked meats. We had pulled pork and brisket sliders which were so yummy we'd devoured them before we thought to take a picture. The cornbread was interesting...a dense texture with caraway seeds and sweet corn kernels. Plenty of shaded outdoor seating with fans running. A great lunch stop after visiting the Carl Sandburg NHS.

The best BBQ we've been to so far in the 2.5 years we've lived in upstate SC. After a hike at Pearson Falls, we were hungry and ready for some good southern bbq. Made the 15 minute drive and found the restaurant quiet on a Friday early afternoon. Only a few other customers mingled around. You walk up to order at a window and they have a large selection of options. We went with pulled pork, potato salad, beans, cornbread, buns, and our kids got grilled cheese sandwiches. The lady taking our order was friendly and patient with us. The restaurant has a ton of tables scattered under trees and awnings, with flowers blooming all around and chickens roaming the restaurant. It was very charming and unique. We have toddler twins, plus two other daughters and felt like this was a perfect place to dine that gave them a chance to roam and be kids without disturbing others. Food arrived quickly and we thought the pulled pork was fantastic. They have a variety of sauces to try and a station where you can grab whichever ones you like. I loved the seasoning in the potato salad and beans were delicious too. The cornbread wasn't as flavorful or as moist as I like. That's probably the only thing we were indifferent on. Restroom was clean and next to it is a big sink for those who need to clean up after digging in to some good bbq. The kids just loved the chickens roaming around and everyone left full and happy. We will be stopping here again!

A long held local favorite. Excellent BBQ pork and chicken. The smoked chicken salad sandwich is delicious. The apple slaw is clean and refreshing. The skillet cornbread is some of the best I have ever had, thick and moist. The outdoor dining environment is charming and full of flowers and shady. In the Rainbow Row of shops, so you can stroll after a satisfying meal here.

Outside seating only with a lot of shade and cover just can't avoid flies around your food. Ribs were delicious and fell right off the bone. Baked beans and cornbread were a bit dry for my liking but the flavor was good. Good came out quickly.

This was my entire portion, fat and all of brisket

Bought the brisket today and I specifically asked the girl if there was fat running through the meat and she said no just on the outside; I got a very small portion and at least half of it was fat. I won't order it again. The collard greens were very tasty and the cornbread was the best part. I've added a picture of my entire portion of brisket, fat and all.

We had to stop at Hubba Hubba for some true NC BBQ while visiting Asheville. We arrived on a Sunday at 2pm, and the line was very long! We decided to wait it out because the food looked and smelled delicious. We scoped out a table in the shade to enjoy our bbq feast. The line took about 40 minutes. We ordered plates of ribs, a brisket sandwich, cornbread, cheesy grits, apple slaw, baked beans, and collard greens. We tried all of the sauces, too. The ribs were incredible!! They were delectable, tender, juicy and flavorful. The meat fell right off the bone. The Carolina sweet bbq sauce was my favorite. Of the sides, I liked the beans and the pimento cheese grits. I was not a fan of the apple slaw, and the cornbread was just okay in my opinion. The sweet tea was great! It was perfectly sweet but not overwhelmingly sugary. The ribs were definitely a hit, and I would highly recommend them! The brisket sandwich was also top tier. We would definitely come back here again to try some more options! We also loved that the restaurant was dog-friendly and there is lots of outdoor seating. Free-range chickens and roosters roam around while you eat. There is a friendly and lively atmosphere here.

There was a short line to order . The staff is friendly and helpful. There is plenty of outdoor seating. They have regular bbq sauce and the vinegar type as well. My ribs were tender . The smoke ring was on point. The beans are good. The apple coleslaw was the best. My wife got the brisket and it was moist and delicious. Her succotash was so good. We had food for lunch left over. This is a hidden gem. There is a cool shopping store above and a good pizza place by the road.

This is the cutest little village. I really liked how you ordered and got your food at the building versus waiting on wait staff. The smoked bbq was fantastic. Sides were around a 2/5 stars from this Southern mama... but I'm use to Granny's cooking. Now that caramel banana pudding?? Sorry Granny, this was better. Soooo creamy and good.

Ask the Community - Hubba Hubba Smokehouse

Do they have covered seating for the rainy days?

There are picnic tables with umbrellas and a small area of patio seating.

Does this place cater for Thanksgiving? I'm planning ahead for a family gathering next year. Thanks!!

They no longer offer catering. That's the bad news. The good news is (and I hope this helps) is that they do offer bulk orders.

My wife and I finally went to our niece's wedding in the Asheville, NC area which was postponed…read morelast year due to the flooding from Hurricane Helene. We were headed to the Greenville Spartanburg airport afterwards, when we decided to stop somewhere and eat on the way. We had plenty of time, since we were going to be at the airport about 6 hours early due to a brunch being cancelled in Weaverville due to an accident involving another family member. The first sign we saw that interested us was for two places in Saluda, North Carolina. We decided to exit and take a chance. It was a good choice. After a short 1.5 mile drive in the beautiful countryside, we arrived in the tiny village of Saluda. It was really a quaint and scenic place. We drove past our restaurant choice, but saw no parking. We kept following signs to a parking lot, but suddenly the road we needed to turn on was closed for construction. I kept going to find a place to make a u-turn, when we suddenly saw Green River BBQ and pulled right into the parking lot. We opted to eat inside. At first we, being from San Antonio, were concerned that the dining room wasn't airconditioned. Believe me, it didn't need it! A very friendly server named Joey came to us right away, seated us, and took drink orders. When he brought our drinks we ordered our meals. My wife had a sliced brisket sandwich with fries and coleslaw. I ordered the BBQ Melt (Smoked pork on a king's Hawaiian bun with melted cheddar cheese & Duke's mayonnaise & smothered with caramelized onions.) Without knowing what it was, I substituted tomato pie for my fries. The food was all excellent. My sandwich was so big and loaded with pork that I couldn't eat the last fourth of it. I didn't want to be stuffed on a flying day. The pork was better than any pork I have been served in Texas. They really know how to cook it in the Carolinas. The coleslaw was rich and creamy. I really liked it. The tomato pie is a hard one to describe. The best I can do is to say that it is like the squash casserole we get in Texas, but replace the squash with fresh tomatoes. It was cheesy, gooey, and had a super great tomato taste. The service here was great. I watched as about 6 staffers were setting up for a big family group that came in after us. They worked like a finely orchestrated marching band. All I can say is this: Skip all those other chains that are along Interstate 26 and go to Green River BBQ!

Olive Garden uses the motto "When you're here, you're family," and for the most part, this is true…read more When you go there, you are part of their dysfunctional, sometimes incestuous, sometimes violence-prone family, - not to mention Olive Garden's bland, overpriced food. But what to do if you want to have a good meal, at a reasonable price, in a warm, welcoming environment that really DOES feel like family? That's where Green River BBQ comes in. Established in 1999, Green River has long been a community staple, and under the recent ownership of Thomas and Brianna Haas, has been serving up some of the best BBQ in the four-county area. How good? Sauces are not needed for either flavor or flavor enhancement. I highly recommend trying the shredded pork or lean brisket sandwiches without condiments - just a bite first, and I think you'll agree. The thick hickory smokiness combined with the perfect tenderness of the meat make for a perfect course. But if you must add condiments, all the sauces are made in-house, and are absolutely delicious. I recommend just a touch of the mustard sauce, along with the house coleslaw, with the previously mentioned pulled pork sandwich. Fantastic! The side-dishes should also be mentioned and given high praise. Their Mac 'n' Cheese is arguably the very best I've ever had, but quite frankly, with any of the sides you can't go wrong. They are all excellent. While the food is the first and foremost reason to patronize this establishment, the owners, Thomas and Brianna, have created a warm, welcoming environment for both customers and their employees. Green River BBQ is a family-friendly eatery. There are accommodations for the munchkins in your life - and that means more than just a high-chair or two: outside there's colored chalk given out with the encouragement to decorate the outside dining ground, as well as coloring placemats. The kid's menu contains items that most children actually want (no kid is going to eat ten pounds of baby back ribs or burnt ends). Grownups of all ages are given no less consideration. From the moment the hostess seats you, the food runners bring your meal, or your server presenting the final bill (be sure to tip them generously - they more than earn it), you'll feel as if you're dining at a beloved cousin's home during a family reunion. So, are there any negatives? Yes. Just one: parking. Parking any vehicle outside of a motorcycle in Saluda is a challenge, due to the limitations of space on the Main Street, and Green River BBQ is no exception. That's the bad news. The good news is that there is public parking located just a few blocks away. So, you may have to walk a short distance, but the food is worth it. So, so worth it. So, to sum up: Green River BBQ is some of the best, down-home, American BBQ you'll find in the area. Give them a try; they'll win you over!
