Being a couple of inches off…read moreofficial dwarf status, it is nigh on possible for me to find boots that don't make me look like some sort of mystical wood creature or something that lives under a bridge eating goats and growling at passers by. I didn't actually find a perfect pair here, but came closer than normal and for anyone without weird hangups about leather to leg ratio, this is a fantastic shop to start the yearly boot search. They stock a variety of mid price range designers who have all captured the essence of more expensive boot makers (think Fiorentini and Baker or Belstaff) without copying these designers to the letter. They are particularly well stocked on biker type boots and in general the quality of materials used is high. Shopping here is a pleasurable experience aided by friendly, relaxed staff, warm lighting, comfortable seating and good music. I love the window display which features a miniature toy train running around the store and weaving between all the gorgeous boots and shoes.

Each shoe is wonderfully placed on its own mirrored shelf, and the prices range from £50 to £150. There are some uniquely designed shoes and boots to be found here, and you might find a pair that make you want to dance. What I like most about this store is the level of personal attention each customer receives, and the friendly and helpful staff - they meet a standard that seems higher in Stoke Newington compared to the rest of London! If you're looking for winter boots, there are some great varieties in stock, as well as sandals and strappy heels in the spring.

This location is very easy to find as it's off the main drag of Carnaby street just off to the side. The black paint and signage make it easy to spot. The inside was clean and not overdone so you can really focus on the pieces there. I've always wanted a piece from here but was apprehensive because of the prices (I'm just cheap, the pieces are quality and reasonable for the craftsmanship) but mainly because since all of the pieces are custom made to your size, the items need to be shipped. Told myself for years I'd just go to their Los Angeles store but never did. It's so much more special getting a piece here though as the Great Frog originated here. Staff member named Jaws helped me out and was a lovely human being. Approachable and helpful, not pushy but made me feel good about my purchase. Walked me through sizing me for a ring and talked prices and shipping. Also was friendly that we got off topic talking about life and overall just a nice person who made the experience A+. I'm so happy with my rock n roll ring purchase that I'll be a fan going forward. If you love badass jewelry with a rock n roll edge and history, this shop is the one for you.

My heart sank when I saw the original shop front in Ganton Street boarded up on a post-lockdown visit to Central London. Turns out, they just moved to a new location around the corner in Newburgh Street - phew! With quite a queue outside as well, so the future seems secure. This is the original rock'n'roll jeweller and famous for its collection of skull rings.

My baker lady said, "Party Party, just in Dalston market" so off I trotted. As I approached this vast store firstly I was shocked that I have lived here for 3 years and never actually seen this magical place. Down stairs as you walk in you are greeted by sales staff in themed waist coats, this time of year they have pumpkins all over them. The head fella wears a fez - that automatically gave these guys an extra star, it's not often I get sound advice from a fez but this guy knew his stuff. Downstairs there is this wonderful area filled with party accessories, from balloons to costumes (pretty basic but good value for money) and hats, masks, tinsel, tablecloths, candles the lot! But this wasn't the best of it... anyone who loves to bake needs to come here. Upstairs hidden away is a shop that sells cake accessories, from cutters, to edible glue, to silver balls, cake stands, plastic bride and grooms and more. I was in a rush and only meant to spend a few minutes picking up the liners but walked out with 2 silver cake trays, silver edible balls , cake liners, vanilla extra and icing caps. I want to go back and buy more right now. If you are making a cake, you must spot by here, it's everything you need all under one roof!
