Where to start... Dropped off a 1956 Chevy Pick up instrument cluster in May of 2020 with all available new rebuild components already purchased and dropped off with the cluster. I even had the back panel hydrodipped to look like carbon fiber to make this a distinctive and custom cluster for my truck. I asked for a full cluster check and rebuild with the new components that I supplied. No components were necessary to be purchased and all parts were complete in what was dropped off. I may have made a mistake when I stated that the truck was in the middle of some major work and there was no rush on the rebuild. I thought I was being kind by giving them some flexibility. I've called and spoken with them a couple of times previously (earlier this year) about when it may be done. The excuses have been everything from "there's another dash in front of yours", "we've checked it all out and it's working properly, I just need to finish the rebuild", and even excuses about COVID delays. I'd be more sympathetic to COVID issues if this wasn't a business being run out of a home and I brought them all the components necessary to rebuild the entire cluster. That began to just seem like an excuse to me that didn't have merit. Now over 1-1/2 years later, I keep calling and cannot get a return call. I've stopped by the house that is used for the business, there are dogs inside and on the day I stopped by, trash cans had been placed at the curb. I knocked and no answer. I can not come to any other conclusion than I am being ignored and my calls are not being returned. At this time I will be filing for a resolution through small claims court in Clackamas to recoup the replacement cost of the cluster and all purchased components that were purchased and delivered with it. I will gladly update this review with any change or resolution, but at this time, I cannot get any support or return calls from this business.

My car needed what I knew to be a fairly expensive service. I needed a timing belt( also known as a…read moreserpentine belt) and, with that, a water pump replaced. While they were at it, I wanted them to replace the A/C/ alternator belt and they noticed the drive belt( s) were cracked. This is normal if your car has reached 90K-100K miles... check your manual. I was worried about waiting too long to have it replaced and needed a complete engine replacement if my belt broke- a real concern. Checkpoint Motors quoted me $950. This was after a friend said he'd do it for $550 and then couldn't. Maybe my friends quote was too low... I may never know. I told them I had a work schedule which was unpredictable, and asked if they had availability TOMORROW. They did!! Amanda was great to speak with on the phone initially and was communicative throughout the day, as my car needed to be at the shop for the entire day. After finding out that Checkpoint wanted permission to also replace any gaskets from which they saw seepage, I was freaking out a little. I asked them to only replace any which truly needed it, as they had access to a few more things with the timing belt accessible. They were sensitive to my concerns and, after all was finished, the final bill came in much better than expected. The Checkpoint Motors mechanic was able to get in and out quickly, my other gaskets were not seeping and my drive belts were replaced because they were cracked ( normal on an older car). I was happy to get my car back early for nearly $200 less than quoted. The squeaky belt noise is gone and, since I own a Toyota, all I need is an oil change now and to change out a few fluids. My car runs great. They even were nice about using my Yelp $20 off check-in coupon. I couldn't be more pleased with what I expected to be a stressful experience. I feel the Checkpoint Motors staff was reputable and made my first experience with them a very good one; I'd definitely recommend you try their services.

They are always honest about what I'm expected to pay for the service and never go the cheap route when it comes to replacing anything on my car or servicing it. I don't even live in Canby anymore and still bring my car to them because I know the job will always be done right and sometimes they will get it done sooner than expected. Also it's always nice walking into the shop and they remember you by name especially a place where most people feel overwhelmed taking their car in to get serviced for the first time... needless to say you should feel very confident getting work done here!

"This needs replaced asap, thats broken and will break down if not replaced soon" and quotes are prepared before you even show up. NONE of that occurred. I wasnt targeted to be upsold on a single thing. I didn't get the typical lecture of needing to spend hundreds of dollars in the near future. Dan told me everything checked out well, ran my payment and they both wished me a great evening! I came home and told my boyfriend if he ever needs work done he doesn't want to do, to take it there.
