I went to Dr Oriba to have several moles removed. He asked if I wanted them all frozen off at once, but failed to mention why he was asking this! So I agreed, thinking it would save me from making another visit. It hurt so much that I was in shock. Afterwards, he did not mention any special care or pain relief. I cried in pain all the way home. And six months on, I still have brown marks/scars all over a very visible place. I wish he would have discussed options that would heal with less scarring! I recently had MOHS surgery on my forehead near my hairline. The process involved a referral from my regular dermatologist, seeing Dr. Oriba for an initial consult, and then going in for the surgery itself. I felt everything went smoothly. I had had the basal cell for a long time and it went deep which is why my regular dermatologist had been unable to eradicate it despite many tries over a long period. Dr. Oriba was meticulous in his work, he worked swiftly and gave me enough novocaine that I felt no pain at all. He referred me to a plastic surgeon for future repair work as the incision was sizable and I was very appreciative of the follow-through. His receptionist is also very very nice despite being super busy, she gets through multiple appointments and follow up calls with a great attitude. All in all, since no one really wants to have this sort of surgery, especially on the head and face, I was pleased overall with the surgery and the treatment I received. read more

I found Dr Oriba quite by accident, and I am glad I did!! My Dr. retired and I went elsewhere for 2 years but was unhappy with them. I switched to Dr Oriba a few months ago. I have had melanoma and numerous moles removed over 20 years. I had a mole removed today. The deft in which he shaved it off was so quick and precise I literally didn't even realize it had begun, because it was over. No pain at all either. I had 2 moles shaved off by a different Dr last year and it was a hack job. Dr Oribas no nonsense, straightforward and professional demeanor is perfect, for me. Dr. Oriba has no personality, does not listen, interrupts continually, and is vague and extremely rude. More importantly, I'm not sure he doesn't know what he's doing. He insisted I was using a prescription shampoo incorrectly although I was following the manufacturer's package instructions. Dr.Oriba was recommended from another physician as he is known for his amazing work as he takes all the cancer out and leaving the good tissue for reconstruction if needed. I saw Dr. Oriba last year. He looked at my pale skin and asked why had I come in. I said I have pale skin and need to keep an eye on it for skin cancer and he told me not to come in for another two years. I found another dermatologist in the area who found a cancerous bump on me recently and she cut it out last week. I'm so glad I didn't listen to Dr. Oriba. read more

The staff here represent a new level of incompetence. From the start (referral), the scatter-brained reception mistook me for other customers, couldn't remember our conversations - and the coup de grace - claimed she had tried to leave me several messages canceling my appointment. Of course the confirmation reminder txts went through but some how *mysteriously* her calls/messages never did. In addition, they now claim "it's office policy" to only take insurance in network and apparently don't value cash/HSA or other methods of payment. An appointment that never should have been became one that never was through thoughtlessness and overall lack of consideration. Thankfully I don't need urgent care as this is all around the least help I've received in a while. read more

Everything was clean and a mask was worn by staff to keep us all safe. I felt very welcome and it was worth making the 7 hour drive from San Diego. I will visit him again. Great experience at Dr. Oriba's office. Megan at the front desk is always welcoming. Dr. Oriba is a kind and competent dermatologist. He is always running on time. Takes time to answers any questions and never makes you feel rushed. His back office assistant is equipped with an iPad, so prescriptions are called in before you even leave the exam room. Dr. Oriba is very meticulous and measured in performing Moh's surgery. He took the minimal amount necessary to get clear margins. I was "happy" when he needed to go back for a second sample because it said to me that he didn't "oversample" the first time. Quick and painless surgery. read more

Long wait for appointment. Then Oriba was rude and dismissive and his comments made no sense (he contradicted himself several times). When I asked him some clarifying questions he got huffy. He did not even look at my complaints, saying that it was dermatitis and could not be cured, just suppressed. Came in today for a 1045 a.m. appointment and was told it would be a 30 minute delay. I voiced my displeasure, and told the front desk reception that I would run another errand and return within 30 mins. I ran my other errand, returned in 20 mins, and was seen within 5 mins. I thought that the reception did a good job of managing the delay and being honest about it being 30 mins, and not 10 as some places will tell you. My appointment with Dr. Oriba was thorough and I left happy. read more

I moved to the area with a history of melanoma and basal cell carcinoma. I asked around who were reputable dermatologists and among others, Dr Oriba was recommended. He was the only doctor who got me into his schedule quickly. He also is trained to perform Moh's surgery, which is excellent if you ever have something that needs this type of precise excision. His bedside manner is frank, smart and informative. He doesn't talk down to patients and nor will he soften what he has to say when it comes to important information. I was interrupted by the nurse as she asked me why I was there and I was responding to her question, pushed by the doctor when I thought I was supposed to lay back but he wanted me seated, and dismissed as I asked him questions. I had a cyst that I wanted him to extract and he said, "I would just whack it off with a scalpel, it will bleed and probably scar. Women don't like scars, men are okay with them." I felt like all of my concerns were dismissed with one word answers. Wow, there is something very wrong with this man. We saw him for a consult, I asked a question about the referral process and he was extremely angry and hostile. I have no idea why my question set him off but he was rude, abrasive and honestly, a little unstable. As I stood up to leave, he continued to yell at me as we left the room. All of this over one simple question! The women working in the office were rolling their eyes and whispering to me as I left--clearly, this was not the first time they had seen this behavior. 5/21/18 Dr. Oriba operated on my 88 year-old mother in his office to remove skin cancer from her chest. He and his staff neglected to ask what current medications she was on before surgery. The next day not only were the deep stitches bleeding, but we could not stop the bleeding and had to rush mom to the ER at CHOMP. The unstoppable bleeding was due to deep stitches not holding, and two blood thinners my mom was taking. Doctors and nurses at CHOMP said it was very negligent of him not to check what current meds she was on. I agree! Poor mom. It's hard on the elderly to go through this kind of trauma. Plus a huge bill for the ER visit, which I feel like sending to him to pay. Took her in to see him the next morning and he was very defensive. Changing doctors pronto! :( read more

Saw Dr. Oriba for an itchy rash on my abdomen months ago. I called for an appointment and I was fitted into his busy schedule at the end of the day. He diagnosed the rash as an allergic reaction to the antibiotic ointment my surgeon told me to use . Dr. Oriba prescribed a steroid cream and the rash cleared i three days! I was a happy camper! His office is nicely decorated and his staff were friendly and personable. I will definitely be back if I have any more skin problems. read more
