Considering there aren't a ton of hotel choices nearby, the HoJo is one of your best options. I ended up in one of the suites overlooking the indoor pool. It had a regular bedroom/bathroom setup with plenty of space and then a whole other room with a living room and, electric fireplace, and a hot tub. The whole thing felt a little dated, but in a fun way. There was also balconies but they overlook the indoor pool so no access to fresh air. Check in was fast, they have a restaurant and bar downstairs, hot breakfast options, and an ice cream machine in the lobby. There was plenty of space around the pool and some game tables as well. I didn't go in but I also saw an arcade and a workout center. For the rate, this definitely fit the bill and some. read more

The ho-Jo! Was here in town for a work conference and this hotel was maybe 10-15 minutes away from where it was. Definitely one of the best hotels available in the area! Check in was super simple. The hotel itself is really nice. There's a pool literally in the center and inside. They have a strict 10pm close for it which is totally fine but the pool was great and was pretty warm. They have a bar and restaurant inside too. Simple bar food like pizza and wings and whatnot. Not bad! Can't beat the prices though. Everything was relatively cheap! Loved that. The room itself was pretty nice! Not too bad. Pretty spacious! I had a king sized room and it was definitely a great size to spread out and whatnot. Was only there two nights but definitely a great place to stay! Would definitely stay here again and recommend. read more

One my mom's favorite childhood memories was visiting HOJO with her grandfather for ice cream. He'd read all the flavors to her only to have her choose vanilla every time. Imagine my surprise walking into this hotel in Lima, OH to be greeted by a vending machine reminiscent of this experience with a nostalgic sign on the side that hearkened right back to it. I snapped a pic and sent it to mom immediately. We chose this hotel because of the ratings on Yelp and the very interesting pool smack dab in the middle of the atrium. An indoor pool is always novel to me, but this one in the heart of the hotel was very cool and I'm very glad we had a chance to use it during our stay. The front desk staff was super friendly upon arrival. Check in was quick and they gave a thorough overview of all the amenities, which was super helpful. The on-site bar/restaurant was a nice surprise too, especially after traveling a few hours to get here. The menu of pizza, wings, and fried stuff was about what I expected, but perfect knowing I didn't have to drive home after a few of their very affordable drinks. There was a nice big bar, friendly bartender, and quite a few larger tables in the space, plus some really large ones just outside in the atrium. The rooms were large, spacious, and clean. They even had a few updated artistic touches that brought them into the modern context. The bathroom was also large and clean, but you could really see some age there, not that it bothered me at all. Closets were also large, the ironing board came in handy too, and there was even a refrigerator standard. All in all, a very solid hotel and one I'd stay in again. Thank you Hojo! read more

Great staff!!!! Always friendly, and professional. Breakfast is well... underwhelming! ALWAYS the same not so good biscuits and gravy (5 outta 7 days). It's actually quite ridiculousl how many days they serve it. No variety, and when you stay here 3-4 per week it gets REALLY OLD!! May be time to consider a different hotel for all myself and fellow workers. Staff said it's not up to them. Shame as aside from the breakfast this really is a well rounded hotel. Phone doesn't work, elevator was not working most of the time and balcony door won't lock...would not recommend a stay here!

The sheet on my bed was ripped, there was filth including a flossing pick along the baseboard. The plug in the bedside table was loose or something so my CPAP kept turning on and off all night long. At least staff gave me an extension cord so I could use a plug from across the room and sleep well the second night. There are not enough plugs in the room, I had to unplug the TV to plug in the coffee maker. The breakfast options are limited, but decent food. This place is a Dump and if you stay any length of time for work like I did they conveniently do not have a washer or dryer on site but will kindly offer their cleaning service to you witch charged me $100 for 1 laundry bag of clothes which was a total rip off none of the ice machines work but conveniently they sell bags of ice at the front desk read more

This is a wonderful place to stay the night. The best part of this hotel is the covered swimming and entertainment area. With a balcony, we watched the girls swim and play in the pool down below. On the day we stayed there were limited breakfast options. The hot meal option only included biskets and gravy with no meats. The pancake machine was broken. Panara and other restaurants are just down the road so all is good. read more

Needed a place to stay after traveling with kids. This was absolutely the best place for what we needed, especially for the price. It was very spacious which was perfect for kids who've been cooped up for hours in the car- giving them room to "run" without being up and down the halls. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and helpful. The pool was good sized and good temp. If I had to have a complaint, it would be that the beds are doubles instead of queen sized and the blankets are pretty thin and not warm. But the room temp was easily adjusted. Overall very very impressive a for the price. Would recommend and would stay again read more

The hotel is built for events and families. Huge property. An ice cream vending machine in the main lobby. Pizza parlor and game rooms. Bar room and lounge. Lots of function rooms and common areas for socializing. Large indoor pool and kids play area in the atrium. The atrium is enclosed and there are rooms with an atrium-facing balcony or patio instead of exterior windows. It's dated but very clean. My room faced out into the exterior and was clean and spacious. I appreciate it when the thermostat is on the wall instead of the AC unit. Our room had 2 double beds, desk area, and a couple armchairs. Didn't get a chance to watch any TV but it was a flatscreen. read more

If you want something that is pet friendly and smoker friendly then this is for you. If you want something quiet that doesn't smell like smoke I would look elsewhere. The front desk staff was nice, however it took 3 attempts before we finally got a room that didn't smell like smoke. We booked a king room nonsmoking and they gave us a smoking room. When we went down to ask for another room they said all the kings rooms were taken... so they gave us a "nonsmoking" double bed room. As soon as we opened the door the room reeked of smoke. Went back down a third time and they finally gave us a room "that's never been a smoking room". Still never got the king bed nonsmoking we booked though. Also, gets somewhat noisy in the morning with dogs barking and whining. Breakfast is ok, TV channel selection was disappointing. Lots of games and play areas on the main floor for both younger and older kids. read more

The Howard Johnson in Lima is my favorite hotel in the area. It's clean, quiet and comfortable. There are plenty of amernites on-site and the staff is wonderful! This was my second stay. You'll notice a difference right at the check in counter. Every employee I encountered throughout my stay was friendly, professional and accomodating. Great job y'all! My room was spcious, the bed was great, and I even had a balcony facing the atrium. The hotel itself is large, centered around this atrium and features a pool, game room, billiard table, and tavern. Even with all this, my stay was quiet and relaxing. There is also an 24 hour fitness center and free wifi throughout the place. The bar is cozy and comfortable and offers drinks and pizza into the evening. In the morning it also hosts a complimentary hot breakfast. This place is great. Top notch! read more

Been there twice this month. Had such a great time I actually added more days to my stay! Very clean rooms, fully stocked, housekeepers are lovely, and the manager is fantastic! You know, they even supplied a razor for me when I asked, along with other amenities. They have a warm breakfast every morning, and the pool was fantastic! When I was young Howard Johnson's were the place to stay. Nice rooms, good coffee and coffee shop, just great lodging. They kind of fell off the map over the years and I have not bothered with them for many years. If my experience in Lima, OH was any indication, that will change. The HoJo's in Lima was a wonderful experience from the front desk employees at check in to a very nice, comfortable room, to a great night's sleep. They have a large pool and play area, with ping pong, air hockey, too many games to name, plenty of room for family's and not too loud for the guests trying to get a nap before the show. The Howard Johnson in Lima, Ohio was way above what I expected. Every staff member I encountered was very courteous and helpful. My room was very roomy and comfortable. There was a small balcony that overlooked the rather large indoor pool. The decor in the room and bathroom were well done. The hotel itself has a pool,game room, on site restaurant, play area for toddlers, as well as pool tables, ping pong, and air hockey! Very surprised at all the amenities! Very nice staff. Would def consider hosting events there. Kudos for how open it was. Families with a wheelchair user really appreciate openness and not a lot of clutter. MWe never got the pool chair lift working for my daughter but they seemed to genuinely care about it and try. Well, while the constant conversation with welders is nothing short of riveting it is second only to how amazingly humid the rooms stay. The only relaxing moment you have while staying there is having a normal conversation with the bartender Tesla. She is very personable and just an overall good person. But it's absolutely absurd that these bartenders have to cover their tattoos, it's 2019. I'm more concerned with her shitty bandages falling in my drink than seeing her body artwork. read more
