I was blown away by my experience at this hotel. The staff were super friendly, rooms were spacious and clean, breakfast was decent, and housekeeping was top notch. They even bring you the paper every morning which was quaint but appreciated. They also have dedicated ethernet hookups in the room which was a huge plus as a student. Ultimately this is the most pleasant hotel experience I've had for the price point (my job is 100% travel), and I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Lima. read more

Easy check in with smiling and helpful faces! Garion (could have that wrong) was beyond amazing. I was asking about places to buy bottled water and they promptly handed me one, on the house!! Spacious and clean rooms, fairly comfortable beds (albeit a bit small). Had a great view, noisy but nice. The outside noise seeps in, I'd imagine if you are a medium to heavy sleeper you'll have no issues here. They offer daily housekeeping-I had do not disturb sign up -they left a note under the door offering to return and clean or options for obtaining items I may have needed WOW in all my years of traveling I've never seen this and I love it!!!! The staff is very friendly. But unfortunately our room was dirty. The sheets, tub, and floor were not cleaned. Due to the uncleanliness not sure if I would stay here again. They did have a nice breakfast and the size of our room was great. I also liked the refrigerator with freezer in the room. The staff were friendly which is why they received a star. The rest of the experience has been horrid. I have been handed 3 separate hotel keys that do not work. For over $100 a night, this is a ridiculous issue to run into over and over and over again. The next thing that hit me was the smell when walking in. It is INCREDIBLY musky. It smells like the room has not been exposed to clean air since the hotel was built. After turning on the air, it has gotten somewhat better. I hardly have allergies but even they are bothered here. I would warn anyone with severe allergies to stay away. I have also read complaints about room service, I will find out if these are true tomorrow I suppose Update: we've been here for a few days now. Room service was fine. Last night the air conditioner from 1999 has shut off and has not turned back on since. It doesn't matter what we do. It was a very hot night and it will be even hotter today if this problem is not fixed. Also AVOID the breakfast. My mom was wondering why her individually packaged cereal was stale...it expired THREE and a half years ago (in 2016). Overall I am sticking with my one star. This is a basic hotel- friendly staff, easy check in, low price. I travel a lot for business and my basic expectations are for a clean, comfortable place for the week. Unfortunately, this one didn't quite got the mark with the cleanliness. It wasn't filthy, but the housekeeping was very subpar. Noted a rude young housekeeper upon arrival to my room day 1...would have looked past that but they just seemed to misunderstand the basic concepts of cleaning a room. Example- there was dried coffee all over the microwave and cups upon arrival. They didn't even bother to make the beds each day! Not the worst place ever but not someplace i will return to in the future. read more

Rooms are disguisting, this hotel is bottom of the barrel, when I checked into my room not only was there dried puke on the end of the bed sheets, there was hair in the bed and toe nail clipping on the dusty floor.... had I known some friends of mine stayed here and said the stay was absolutely horrible I would have certianly not wasted my time coming to this dump. read more

While it's not a 5 star hotel, staying here on Labor Day weekend for each of the 3 previous years, our experiences have always been good. Rooms have been clean, amenities plentiful and the people working the service desk have been friendly and helpful. Nancy was super nice and Garion in particular is not only adorable, but exemplifies what a good service employee should be. read more

As far as customer service goes, it was absolutely horrendous. I would advise everyone to choose another option.

Pros- it's right next to some nice restaurants and next to the YMCA and a running trail so you don't have to go far to exercise. Cons- housekeeping waits till extremely late to clean the room (if they even come). If you have an allergy issue, the beds/room will definitely bother you through the night. The breakfast is questionable. Last, their wifi is horrid. If you're staying for one night, it's maybe a three star. Anything a minute longer, it drops drastically lower. read more

Comfy beds and clean bathrooms are usually all I need to make me a happy hotel guest--the Wingate in Lima didn't disappoint. For $70/night (the wedding block discount), I was definitely satisfied with our ginormous bed and spacious room. I didn't take advantage of the hot tub, gym or complimentary breakfast, but those are definitely nice amenities. We had no trouble checking in or out, parking was great and the location was outstanding for an out-of-town wedding (we could walk to restaurants, bars and the reception venue--hooray!). I had to deduct a star because the shower took FOREVER to warm up on the day of the wedding and I am not a cold shower kind of girl. But other than that, everything was great! read more

I enjoyed my stay at the Wingate in Lima. First off, I arrived very early in the morning and the front desk checked me in without any delay. The room was clean and king size bed was very comfortable. I also appreciated the free parking as well. The bathroom is clean and service was good. They also offer complimentary breakfast which is a bonus. read more

This was the worst hotel experience ever! Booked a room for a family member that was traveling to Ohio. When he went to get in bed for the night and pulled the blanket back there was dried throw up all over the sheets and blanket. He got dressed, walked out and was absolutely disgusted. The hotel staff was not accommodating when I called to ask for a refund. They did not apologize. I let them have it. This is absolutely unacceptable! read more

Traveled to Lima 3 or 4 times, and this is where I always stay. Centrally located, clean hotel.

Staff was great but rooms weren't anything to write home about. The air quit working in the middle of the night. The pillows are like rolling up a shirt to lay under your head. I told them at checkout about the issues with air and they basically said I'll try to get someone to look at it but other than your problems how was your stay. Not real sure how to answer that? Won't be my first choice when I visit Lima again. read more

This place sucks. Their housekeeping is basically nonexistent. We've stayed here for five weeks in a row for work, and more than three times they didn't show up. The air in the room felt moist and any amount of time spent inside this building made me feel like I was getting sick. It's also in the downtown Lima area where the locals cry out, "why on earth are you staying at a hotel in that area?!" If you're used to at least decent, this is not the place for you. read more

Good price and location. However our room was never cleaned over the 3 days we were there and we had to go to the desk to get new towels. If you're not out of your room by 9am housekeeping leaves you a note saying they'll be back around 2 to check again. Each day we were gone by 10am until evening and no one ever came back to our room. We even saw one of the housekeepers at 850 am and told her we'd be out of the room in 15 minutes, and and still no one came all day. I had to go down to the desk to get new towels because apparently there's only one person working in the evening. read more

The check in staff was friendly & helpful. The continental breakfast is all right, the only hot options are eggs and sausage. However, there's lots of cereal, pastry, and juice options. As well as a pancake/waffle maker! The rooms were clean and the housekeeping service was prompt. There's no pool but they have a workout room. Free parking & convenient entrances. When we got there to check in we had to wait for 15 minutes before someone showed up at the desk before we could check in, then she had us down for the wrong date, which ended up not being a problem because they had a lot of vacant rooms. We got to our room and checked it out and there was hair all in the bath tub, the room did not look clean so we went back down and requested a different room. we got to that room and the bath tub was cleaned but the nightstand had something sticky that had been dumped on it, the refrigerator was dirty the light that was on the night stand had a ton of dust on it like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. it was so late and we were so tired we went ahead and stayed but told the lady at the desk the next morning how bad this room was too. Her response was, they had younger girls cleaning the rooms and they don't care how they look especially if the manager isn't there. I said, well he must never be here because the dust in that room had accumulated over a long period of time and what about our wait at the desk? She pretty much just said, well, I'm sorry and brushed it off her shoulders. Oh and the curtains in the rooms have sheers and the bigger curtains do not close so people on the streets can see in your room. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will never stay there again! Also at check out, our room for three of us with two double beds cost $94.00 but they charge a state tax and a local tax , which ended up adding another $13.70 to the room. read more

Had one of the workers ask about my service dog in my truck while it was parked outside. She implied i was trying to pull a fast one on the hotel by not mentioning I had a dog that would be staying with me. My dog is a service animal and once I informed her she changed her attitude very quickly. I did not appreciate the overall attitude I received from her in a brief time she was in my presence. Everything else was fantastic at the hotel including the receptionist that checked me in. However, your 1 employee ruined my experience so much that the negative outweighed the good. read more

We came 300 miles for a wedding and we checked-in to Fairfield Inn Marriott.We ended up leaving in the middle of the night after being assaulted by the night manager and her aunt(she brings her to work with her). We had to call the police and press charges and find another hotel in the middle of the night. Now we will have to come back here for court. We have never been in court except for jury duty. I am posting this on EVERY website, blog, etc that I can so people will know and not be treated this way. But then we came to Wingate By Wyndham and we have had excellent service...Thanks so much...we will be back. read more

I was In Lima, OH for a family funeral on 01/09/16 which ran late...4 minutes after checkout time, as I was pulling into the Wingate parking lot, I received a call informing me that my belongings were at the front desk...FOUR MINUTES...which means HOTEL STAFF WERE IN MY ROOM AND REMOVING MY BELONGINGS BEFORE CHECKOUT TIME. I have the call log on my mobile to verify this timing. My belongings were just jammed into my luggage, fabric from my clothing was zipped in zipper, straps were hanging out of baggage which I was forced to repack in the lobby restroom. Additionally the NASTY front desk clerk continued to interrupt me when I was talking, and capped it off by SHOUTING AT ME as I walked away from the front desk. If this person holds a title of manager...Wyndham has a REAL problem. A trip that was not pleasurable to begin with was capped off by the outrageous actions of the hotel and the front desk. This did NOT appear to be a high volume date and NO one was waiting for a room as check in time was not until 3:00 p.m. This scenario was not what I would expect from this corporation, but will not experience this going forward as I will not choose to stay at ANY Wyndham property in future (unless there is NO other alternative). read more

I loved my stay at teh Wingate! Brittany at the front desk was so accomadating! She even adjusted my bill for me. She was super friendly and just pleasant. The beds also were extremely comfortable. The breakfast, which is free, was also great. All and all i highly recommend this hotel. read more

We stayed here on a hotel tonight deal and regretted it. This is not a nice area at all, lots of hoodlums and homeless wandering around, definitely don't want to leave anything in your car. It makes no sense that firearms are not allowed on the premises, this is a bad area, you'll want to be able to defend yourself. All building doors are still unlocked at 10pm, come on. People sitting around the outside of the building panhandling. Room was not cleaned, still had debris on the floor, paper clip laying in the middle of the floor with more debris. End tables and desk were never wiped down, pubic hair on toilet still. Used Clorox wipes to clean the place myself because it was 11pm and we'd been driving all day, kept our shoes on while in the room. Breakfast was ok, but because the eggs and bacon were in the chafing dish we could not eat them (pork allergy). Usually if there's a waffle machine there's fruit topping, that was not the case here.
