Erin Konchanin was a saving grace in the hell that is apartment searching in NYC. I never considered working with a broker before, but Erin was able to find amazing listings that covered her fee, which meant that I paid nothing more, but got her amazing assistance with finding my dream apartment. I had a very specific criteria that I was looking for with a low budget, but she still found me a variety of spaces to view. She also had fantastic knowledge of the areas, and was able to provide me with recommendations on where to live. She negotiated rents and security deposits on my behalf, and made sure that I felt safe visiting properties. Erin was completely transparent with me throughout the process, and really made me feel like I could trust her to put my interests first. She was incredibly responsive through text at all hours, and was able to get viewings scheduled quickly and efficiently. Would 100% recommend working with Erin for your next apartment search, and will definitely be coming back to her for mine! read more

I had a deeply troubling experience with Elegran broker Aimee Fink during my tenancy at a co-op apartment she listed in Murray Hill, Manhattan. During the leasing process, I explicitly requested a two-year lease for housing stability. I was told in writing that a two-year lease was unavailable due to board policy. I later discovered this was not accurate. The real reason was that the apartment was part of an estate with a mandate to sell after one year. Had I known this, I never would have signed the lease. At the initial showing, Ms. Fink failed to show up entirely and sent a colleague without notifying me in advance. That colleague arrived 30 minutes late. When I directly asked why the previous tenant had left the apartment, I was told she had moved. I later discovered from a long-term building resident that the previous tenant had actually passed away. When I raised this with Ms. Fink in writing, her response was dismissive and aggressive rather than professional or empathetic. During my tenancy, Ms. Fink gave me less than 24 hours notice for an open house. When I cited my tenant rights and declined, she sent written communications suggesting I take my professional business meeting in the building stairwell. She also stated in writing that she would sabotage my future housing recommendations if I did not comply with her unlawful request. I filed multiple formal written complaints with Elegran management. My first complaint received an initial acknowledgment but no meaningful corrective action. My second complaint received no response at all. I have documented written evidence of everything described above and am currently working with an attorney on this matter. We have sent formal written communications to Elegran in both July and August documenting these violations. To date, Elegran has not responded to a single communication. If you have had a similar experience with Aimee Fink or Elegran Real Estate, my attorney and I would love to hear from you as soon as possible. Please reach out at v.cartoon.g@gmail.com read more

Avoid hiring Barbara Shamouil from Elegran. Avoid her for the following reasons: Irresponsible: Barbara neglects essential property inspections after tenants move out and skips final walk-throughs with new tenants. She has even been recorded saying, "there's nothing to walk through," when new tenants requested a final inspection, simply dropping off keys without showing the apartment. Unethical: She intentionally creates conflicts between owners and tenants to avoid lease extensions, boosting lease turnover and increasing her earnings by attracting new tenants. Short-tempered: Barbara frequently refuses to fulfill her responsibilities. When confronted about her unprofessional behavior, she responds with harsh language and aggression, which is unacceptable. Unprofessional: Her impatience with accountability, combined with forgetfulness, inconsistency, and language barriers (English is clearly not her first language), further undermines her professionalism. Dishonest: Despite her seemingly friendly demeanor, Barbara has a history of negative reviews from clients and even from her own team at Elegran. With so many real estate agents in NYC, avoid hiring Barbara to represent you and your property. She doesn't have your best interests at heart and will likely have a detrimental impact on your property transactions. read more

Poor service, poor respnse time, and agents lack knowledge of the market. This brokerage does not have its own listings, and relys on pruchasing the right to use other broker's listings, and they therefore have only superficial informtion about the product they are selling. Overall, a very poor performing firm. I recommend that you go direcly to the listing agent for your search and skip this firm altogether. read more

Lauren Schaffer at Elegran is sensational. We came in with our daughter to find a West Village apartment with just three weeks until her new job started. Lauren did a lot of rework so that we could be very efficient when we arrived the next weekend. We looked at twelve apartments on Friday with the intent to look at more on Saturday. There were only a few "no ways" among the twelve and we applied at the end of the day. Based on other reviews I think the service depends on the agent. We were introduced to Lauren by friends who she had helped (for their sons and daughters). read more

Last week I did an apartment search with Mr. Seth Podell, looking for a rental in Manhattan in the $7-8000 range. I currently live in Denver but have lived in Manhattan for many years. Mr. Podell was as competent at his job as anybody I have ever dealt with before in your business, I have bought and sold about 10 properties in the past few years. He was bright, pleasant, and most importantly, very knowledgeable in the specific needs that I had told him I required. As it happens, I did not take an apartment in that last trip to NY, but if I find that at this point in my life NY is where I belong I will use no other broker to purchase my eventual home there. In this era of gross incompetence in so many fields that require personal interaction it's great to work with somebody like Seth. read more

I worked with Elegran over the past 6 months to find my dream place in West Village. I started my search in the Upper East Side but as I looked at some apartments and learnt more about the areas of Manhattan from Elegran we figured out that the West Village will be the area where I actually want to live. I worked with multiple people from the Elegran team, they are all great, knowledgeable and respectful group! Very impressive! They explained me the entire process and guided me through it. Not only they answered all my questions (even at night) but they also went ahead and negotiated for me and fought for me to get a price that made me beyond happy! Thanks, Elegran Team! 5 stars from me! read more

I recently worked with Zach Verdi on finding an apartment in NYC, and I cannot recommend him enough. This was my first time going through the whole NYC apartment hunt, and it couldn't have been a better experience with Zach. He is attentive, helpful, knowledgeable, and an overall great agent. He diligently found great apartments for us to look at, and would immediately reach out to listing agents for apartments we sent him. When we couldn't attend a showing Zach would always go himself and facetime us from the apartment. He helped us navigate the application process so that we knew exactly what documents were needed and where to send them. He is very knowledgeable about NYC real estate and timely answered all our questions, which is invaluable to someone like myself with little knowledge. I highly recommend working with Zach Verdi for all your future real estate needs! read more

Kevin Huang from Elegran is the first broker my husband and I reached out to when we started our apartment searching in Manhattan, and he is great! He helped us find a lovely apartment in upper west side, and we love it! Kevin is patient, considerate, quite responsive to my emails and calls, and very efficient in preparing all the paperworks during our application process. Last but not least -- he can also speak fluent Chinese, which is quite a bonus:) read more

Truly a great experience renting my first apartment in NYC with Elegran. Fresh out of college with no idea what I am doing, my agent, Kevin Huang, guided me through the entire process from start to finish. He was very responsive to all emails, calls, and text messages and was there for all my appointments. Thank You Kevin! read more

I worked with Rae Mckee at Elegran while looking for an apartment in Midtown West in NYC. She was incredibly friendly, reliable, and straight forward about helping me find an apartment that accommodated both my budget and location. I would definitely recommend working with her! read more

Edited post: After a brief unprofessional interaction with a realtor of Elegran, I was given a personal phone call by managerial staff and an e-mail of apology. The service provided before the single surprising encounter I wrote about below was perfectly fine and professional, and I would not discount Elegran for its otherwise quality services provided. Original post: I had undergone an apartment search for about 4 months in NYC and found an apartment I liked through street easy and the contact person was ***name removed***. He replied to me quickly and seemed to have a professional demeanor and reached out to me about 3 times while my move in date approached to make sure I was still looking. Obviously I ideally wanted to find an apartment without a broker's fee, but I had been looking extensively and ultimately settled on a beautiful apartment I found through word of mouth, but with another broker. Spencer called me the following day, again to see if we could start looking more in depth at apartments, and when I thanked him for his time and help, but told him I had found an apartment, he WAS SO RUDE and told me I SHOULD NOT BE USING ANY OTHER BROKERS and that 'this wouldn't have worked out ANYWAY' and HUNG UP on me. This unprofessional behavior caught me totally off guard. I'm sure if I found an apartment with him, things would have been great. read more

I had a really good experience working with Heather Glotzer. The stereotype of Manhattan real estate agents is that they are hard nosed and money driven. Heather, on the other hand, was cheery, accommodating and professional. She knew the kind of apartment I wanted and never tried to steer me to rent something that was not to my taste. She knew I was determined to get an apartment with a water view. We laughed and looked. But when she needed to push the management folks she did. I ended up with a terrific apartment and a pleasant memory working with her. read more

I have worked with Elegran for the past few years and have found their listings to be reputable and agents to be knowledgeable and engaging. I recently closed on the sale of my Village apartment with the help of Jared Antin, Sales Manger for the firm. Jared is diligent, professional, responsible, and did a great job of keeping me informed during the entire process. Our deal could not have gone more smoothly! I highly recommend him and the firm he represents. read more

Ugonna Onyekwe at Elegran was a pleasure to work with for our office rental search. He helped us find a beautiful penthouse office space very quickly that met all of our criteria: budget, location, size, amenities, and lease terms. Ugonna took time to thoroughly understand our needs and priorities and remained in close touch through our search with updates on new available properties and updates. He was very flexible and understanding of our busy startup schedule. Ugonna's a great overall guy, very friendly and professional. I'd highly recommend him. read more

I was in the market for a new apartment rather unexpectedly and was on a tight schedule as well as a fixed budget. As a free lancer in the city, getting an apartment is not exactly easy. I contacted Ugonna Onekwe, after looking at a few apartments with another broker and I really feel like he took my particular situation into account and worked hard to find me the right place. I gave him my specifics and he did all the legwork, contacting me within a few days with appointments lined up to see 4-5 places. Each of the buildings he took me to were exactly the feel I was looking for, and there was a decent range of layouts and views and neighborhoods to choose from. I picked one of the buildings he showed me and he helped me get all the necessary paperwork in order, as well as presenting me with options for dealing with my free lance status as a renter. The whole process was easy and Ugonna really helped me to feel at peace and comfortable during what was feeling like a very stressful time. I have already referred one friend to him and will gladly refer friends when I hear they are in the market for a new place. read more

My husband and I worked with Lauren Schaffer for our move on the UWS. Lauren is an all star. My husband and I collectively moved over 8 times in Manhattan and we were agreed that Lauren is the best broker we have ever worked with in NYC. She created a solid agenda of apartments that fit our budget and also our checklist. She was very helpful and even took notes during our showings so we could keep track. She did a ton of leg work and follow up that enabled us to have our first stress free move. read more

I could not be more pleased with my experience looking for an apartment in Manhattan with Daniel Chun at Elegran. Though I was working with a tight schedule, he was able to line up apartments that were within my preferred location and price range. Daniel coordinated everything ahead of time and was on point; all the apartments that we looked at fit my specifications and were scheduled with maximum efficiency so as to be able to see as much as possible with my limited schedule. In one afternoon, I was able to select a great apartment and had a fun time in the process! read more

Heather Glotzer is awesome! In the process of moving to New York City from California and we had the good fortune to have a friend refer us to Heather to help us find an apartment on the Upper East Side. Heather has been amazing to work with -- she never drops a ball, always follows up, answered all our questions, while being warm and personal. It was an absolute pleasure to work with her, and yes, we did secure a wonderful apartment below market price! She ranks a 5-star for both customer service as well as her vast knowledge of the NYC real estate market. read more

Heather Glotzer from Elegran is simply the best. I first worked with Heather back in 2016 when I was looking for a high-end, luxury rental in TriBeCa. As a native New Yorker, I was hesitant to use a broker- I had never used one previously and always managed to figure it out. But from the first conversation I had with Heather (we connected after I had inquired about a listing of hers on StreetEasy), I knew that I was in the best of hands. It was clear, from day one as her client, Heather would do whatever it took to make sure I landed in the perfect home for the best price possible. And I did (after she patiently escorted me over 30+ showings!) Fast forward three years, and I am now ready to purchase my first apartment after 15 years of renting. I knew Heather was the only broker for the job. And she has not disappointed. Heather has held my hand every step of the way. Every question, big or small, she has answered with patience and promptness. She has connected me with her vast network of loan officers, financial advisors, etc. so I could find a team to work with that was credible, trustworthy and experienced with first-time buyers. She has sat with me for countless hours to make sure I'm informed and comfortable every step of the way. She's pounded the pavement and vetted many listings to make sure that she only takes me to see worthy options (my work schedule leaves me with little "free" time). Heather is caring and attentive and always makes me feel like I am a priority even though I know my budget pales in comparison to some of her other clients. I haven't found the perfect home just yet, but I have no doubts that with Heather leading the charge, I will. I couldn't recommend Heather more highly whether you're a first-time renter, buyer or a seasoned pro- she truly is top-notch. read more

I wish I could say I had a positive experience with this firm but I did not. I was put in contact with JOHN CELLA from Elegran. I found his knowledge of the industry to be surface at best. He also had an extremely unprofessional profile on Streeteasy for a long time. His profile states he speaks Spanish but he does not!. He didn't seem interested in my business because I was just renting versus buying. He would take days before returning my calls and emails.I am sure this firm as a whole is great, but please go the direction of another agent and save yourself the hassle. read more

I had a great experience working with Elegran, and specifically our broker Dan. I was looking at a few different places, a couple luxury buildings and a couple regular walk-ups in a few different neighborhoods. Elegran did an amazing job during my apartment hunt this spring. My broker was Daniel Toder and he was crucial in helping me find the perfect place for me and my girlfriend. Having lived in NYC for over 10 years and moving 4 separate times with various brokers, I can confidently say working with Elegran broker Gina Conzo was by far the best experience I've ever had! Gina was extremely professional, organized and stayed in constant communication with my boyfriend and I throughout the entire process (from pre apartment hunting to lease signing). Looking for an apartment in NYC is never easy and Gina made the process as seamless as possible. When Gina arrived to our first appointment with a folder of each listing we were going to see and all of the details per apartment, I knew I had found the right broker. I would use her again and plan to recommend her to any friend, co-worker or family member looking to rent an apartment in the city! read more

I rented an apartment and used Elegran. This process was painful, and every brokerage does a horrible job. Elegran eventually got me an apartment, but other than the showing I ended up doing their job for them. The broker I had was incompetent and lazy. She lost me my first choice after promising it was mine. The reason we lost it was because she failed to do her job, and never called the owner even though I was calling and texting her constantly to do so. I suggest not using a broker, but if you do Elegran is a horrible choice. They don't deserve a penny of the brokers fee I was forced to pay them, they didn't do their job, and they were totally unresponsive when they should have been agressive. I hear many complaints about how agressive brokers are, but at least agressive towards you translates to agressive towards the owner. Don't bother going to Elegran, just go look on your own because that's basically what they'll make you do. read more

I met Heather and Andrew while looking for a new apartment after my husband and I got married. We changed our minds on what we wanted several times - from renting to buying, from Manhattan to Brooklyn. Heather and Andrew were patient, kind, and informative throughout the whole process. I've worked with quite a few brokers and agencies, and I've never met anyone so responsive and professional. They make a great team. We finally bought in Brooklyn and could not be happier with the property. They truly listened to everything we wanted, and found it. We never felt pressured to make a decision, and trust that they are looking out for our best interests in every deal. I would highly recommend Heather and Andrew to anyone looking for amazing brokers who know the market. read more

I've lived in NYC since 2007 and have moved around quite a bit (5 different properties). During my last move, I worked with two brokers from two other agencies, neither of whom could find an apartment that fit the exact criteria I was looking for. After a month of fruitlessly fumbling around, a friend of mine introduced me to Kevin Huang at Elegran. Kevin was by far the most professional, responsive, and considerate real estate broker that I've ever worked with in NYC. He helped find me find exactly what I was looking for at a price that was BELOW my budget. That's unheard of. I can't recommend Kevin with more enthusiasm. read more

Working with Ugonna Onyekwe was really fantastic. I was living in MA when I first started my apartment search so I emailed him about what I was looking for and specified my price range ($2000-$3000) for a studio / 1 BDR. I used to live on the UES but upon moving back, was open to living in different areas of Manhattan. He immediately put together an organized 20 page PDF of listings with large detailed photos, descriptions, and lists of amenities, etc. I was looking for an apartment in a clean, new, well-managed building and one that would have significant amounts of sunlight with granite/marble countertops, lots of closet space and a nice modern kitchen etc . I knew right away that we were on exactly the same page and that he understood what I was looking for. The listings were fantastic - I loved a number of the floor plans and ended up settling on a place proximate to my office in Midtown East. The studio I am in now is much better than the 1 Bedroom apartment I used to be in (in a co-op), although the rent is certainly comparable. The management in the building is wonderful; work orders I submitted through the portal have been attended to within an hour and at the latest, by the next day. The layout of the apartment is impeccable - the apartment is south facing and the huge windows flood the apartment with light. I do a lot of cooking and the closed-off kitchen (vs open kitchen) is a huge plus for a studio. Given the fact that I was juggling graduate school exams and applications during the time of my apartment search, I was relieved to have found someone who narrowed down all the options and filtered out listings to the absolute best ones available prior to me making a trip to Manhattan to view them. Ugonna was remarkably patient, professional, sharp and responsible throughout the process. He was easy to get in touch with, easy to work with, and really on top of things. He knew intuitively whether something would work or not and whenever I brought up a point, he really took the time to listen. I was unable to be in Manhattan to sign my lease and he took charge, conferred with the management office, and had them FedEx Overnight it to my home. The final authorization process for the building was quite convoluted and he was prompt about bringing things to my attention and resolving them. I was grateful for that level of professionalism and excellence. Ugonna was willing to go above and beyond expectations to find an apartment that fit my criteria and that type of dedication is noteworthy. I would highly recommend him for your next purchase, sale, or rental in the city. read more

I had the best experience looking for an apartment to rent in NYC thanks to Ryan Gutleber at Elegran. In the past I have been searching for apartments in many cities like London and Los Angeles (both rent and buy) and this was my first time in NYC. While I am still living in Los Angeles looking to relocate in NY with husband I knew it wasn't going to be an easy task to find a place remotely and I am happy I came across Ryan Gutleber. From the beginning it was very personable, friendly and understood exactly what my husband and I wanted and needed. He sent me many amazing listings with pictures and details but he also went a step further and help me understand how the market works in NY and that was extremely helpful. He was always available to jump on calls (after sending many great detailed e-mails) with me and even accommodate the time difference. I would most definitely recommend Ryan to anybody that is looking for a great broker. read more

Elegran came highly recommended by a colleague of mine, who worked with Maja Stojkovic-Rowland to find her current apartment and had nothing but positive things to say about her experience. Maja happened to be out of town when I contacted her, but she quickly put me in touch with Heather Glotzer who jumped in to help me with minimal notice, on a holiday weekend no less! Heather was highly professional, personable, and proactive from the get-go. She responded promptly to all my inquiries, and sent me listings to review based on my search criteria for UWS studios. Once I'd narrowed down the list, she put together a well-planned itinerary for apartment viewings, working around my busy schedule. I never felt pressured, and Heather explicitly said she wanted me to feel 100% comfortable with my choice before proceeding. The next time I need to find an apartment I would call Heather in a heartbeat! read more
