I personally was very skeptical about therapy, especially after being unsuccessful in finding a therapist that was for me. We got so lucky, Kin being the first couples therapist we tried. His style of therapy was everything we needed. He never made the sessions feel one-sided. He always made sure to acknowledge both of our feelings but allowed us to understand each other. He gave us the tools to be successful in this relationship. We initially were seeing him every 2 weeks, then turned to 3, and 8 months later, we are finally in a place where we only need to schedule sessions as needed. We love how honest Kin has been throughout our journey. He held us accountable while not making us feel bad. I highly suggest Kin if you are seeking couples therapy :)

He has such finesse that his feedback seems very genuine and supportive, and it makes me motivated to want to change. Another expectation you can have with Kin is he'll keep you honest and accountable, again, just like an athletic coach! He keeps it real and simple. For example, he doesn't just tell you to be more patient with your kids or be a better listener to your partner. Instead, he breaks it down for you so you know exactly what your blind spots are and what you need to do to achieve your goals. He keeps things concrete and practical so you won't get lost in the abstract. If you need a therapist, especially regarding your relationship, Kin is definitely the right person.

Long overdue review. She is the only therapist I've met, so I don't have comparison points. But she…read morecombines what are probably traditional therapist practices with awareness, acceptance, cognitive methods and even Zen teachings (without really calling it out as some specific practice - I learned some things she covered were a part of Zen teachings after I "Googled" them to learn more) - it's a great and useful mix. To me, she initially came across as a bit uninterested/judgmental/somewhat distant (as a couple other reviews mentioned) but I put that down to her personal style, i.e. she did not come across to me as some TV version of a warm, approachable, tell-me-anything therapist. But her expertise is evident over time.

I started seeing Rebecca when I was on Stanford Campus and she was working for the Counseling service there. I was having some personal issues which I won't detail here (nosy, aren't you?) and she helped me move forward with my life. I still check in with her when I'm having troubles and I've found her therapy very useful. Rebecca uses cognitive and behavioral therapy and really stresses mindfulness and awareness. I found this approach very useful. She's really good at arming you with tools that you can use going forward, rather than simple solutions to a current issue. As an added bonus she has later evening appointments which works great for folks with jobs and schedules that are hard to rearrange.

If medication management is part of your routine, then LGTC Group will leave you without refills…read moreand no response to your patient portal messages for help. I was seeing a very good therapist who has recently died and I was provided with a new Dr. I've spent close to 2 years dealing with the ineptitude of LGTC. All I really need in my life is someone to prescribe the medication I've been taking for over 20 years. For the last 2 years every time I need a prescription it's a complete hassle. They had me go to 4 different pharmacies because of persistent issues so they suggested getting my scripts delivered and this system is full of holes, drawbacks and disappointments. Currently I've tried to schedule prescriptions refills and CVS Delivery claimed it needed Physicians approval and they'd send a fax to my doctor. Weeks have passed and now I've been off my meds longer than I have been in over 20 years. I've sent a message on the patient portal and have had no reply in an effort to remedy the problem. I'm now without 3 different types of medication I was taking daily. Things seem ok for me so far but the world should know what they're dealing with at LGTC. When dealing with your mental health issues your feelings are on the surface. LGTC group across the board does not care about individuals. They're here to make sure you have a pathetic 15 minute appointment every 4 months to the tune of $500 per session and if you don't clear up your med management in the appointment you're fucked. The patient portal messages will get answered if they're easy enough but thought provoking work like sending prescriptions to those patients in need is not a priority. I was led to believe my whole adult life that the worst thing for me to do would be to abruptly stop taking my medication. Well, it was never my intention to stop but my prescribing Dr must think it acceptable to for weeks without and even as I write this review I still haven't heard back and it's been 3 days. I am most certainly going to investigate another doctors office as it's important to my survival. LGTC doesn't care about you just bring your checkbook and payup sucker. I truly hope that someone in their management reads these and to that person is a special Fuck You.

It was detrimental to her mental health. She heard staff sharing and laughing at racist memes on their phones; many lacked formal mental-health training. Patients were not afforded privacy, and those Zooming in for one-on-one conversations could be heard by other patients in the room. Patients were threatened with forced hospitalization if they did not eat. Patients were constantly told that they needed to medicate. The "cooking" facilities were not cleaned regularly. Literally, she described it as "Girl, Interrupted." Staff gaslit patients, telling them, "You can't trust yourself." One staff member called the treatment "sadistic but necessary." I did complain to the appropriate county agency.
