We had one of those nightmare days when you take someone you love to the vet, and leave without…read morethem... I couldn't stop crying. So I started perusing the Barc's website, looking for someone new to sidetrack me, and to love. Once we were at the shelter, I let Jeremy pick out our new family members. He wanted an orange moron, since we've never had one of those, and a kitten... you go back and check out the three rooms of cages, write down who you want to meet, and they call you back to open the cages so you can handle the cat... see how it reacts, see how you react. First cage, first room, this skinny little tortie, with giant ears locked eyes with Jeremy and it was love at first sight. We named her Mazikeen Star... she's been with us for a week now and she's living up to her demon name in the best way possible. She's a snuggler, under the blankets, purring her ass off, happy as can be, lovebug. She's also already earned the name MaziQueen, because her two pound ass thinks she's in charge and isn't afraid to let our other two cats know it. Then, to complete the set, Jeremy also decided on the last cat, in the last cage. He's a orange and white fluffy loveable sweetheart. He was also sick. They tried to talk us out of taking him because he was being medicated and needed eye drops, but Jeremy started pouting and they relented. We still had to wait until the next day to pick them up because they needed to be spayed and neutered. Yesterday we took Cooper Sharp (our Creamsicle boy) to the vet and ran up a $500+ bill because he was still so congested it was clearly difficult for him to breathe and the medicine the shelter gave us had run out several days before. He sneezed bloody mucus all over Jeremy and so we took him in for an emergency appointment. They sent us home with nose drops, two different meds, and a bunch of other stuff. He has a respiratory infection, which is highly contagious. So much so that the vet and tech wore disposable gowns while handling him so they wouldn't infect the other patients. And they instructed us to wait outside until they had an exam room ready so we wouldn't be in the waiting room. When we left, we went through a side door. He's doing better today, and I hope by the time he finishes this round of meds, he'll be better than he ever was. I'm looking forward to spoiling these guys and giving them the best lives ever.

I began fostering a young dog from BARCS back in January…read more Had her for nearly 2 months before she was adopted. She was adopted by a family in mid March. I was instructed to bring her in for spaying before handing her over to the adopter family. Dropped off the dog early on the appointed morning for spaying and was told to return at 4pm to pick her up. Arrived to pick her up and she was brought out by an attendant, handed over to me and I was told she had already been spayed. It was obvious she had been sedated and was groggy and whimpering. Now, I had asked BARCS after I got her in January if she had already been spayed because it was obvious she had been shaved for surgery. Poor girl, they almost cut on her again for no reason. It gets better. The adopter family had her for less than 2 days before they contacted me wanting to get rid of her. She could be a handful and I knew how to handle her and had instructed them not to return her to BARCS or any other shelter. I took her back into my home and intended to keep her permanently. After she was adopted, she was no longer property of BARCS. A week ago, BARCS blows up my phone and email and wants her returned so they can do an intake on her. I question them about why and told them they had no rights to ownership any longer. Stupidly, I took her back to BARCS and was told she would be returned to me in 3 days. 3 days goes by and they tell me she has been adopted by another family. Monday evening (04/20) I look at their site and there she is available for fostering or adoption. Apparently, the family that adopted her could not have a pet where they lived. Was this true? I have my doubts. I reach out and tell them I will be down Tuesday morning to adopt her. Before leaving to go get her, I see an email from Veronika Graham informing me this animal has been placed in a "rescue shelter" and is not available to be adopted. Well, I smelled bullshit and told Veronika Graham as much. I questioned her how none of this adds up, but she has not and I do not expect a response from her. BARCS lied and removed an animal from a good home. Mine. On one hand, I respect an organization that does good things for animals in need. On the other, it is quite apparent one hand does not know what the other hand is doing there in their offices. I never should have returned this animal to these people. Now, I will most likely never see her again.

My dog's kidney levels are off (which I paid out the ass for the bloodwork). I was there on September 14th, and they didn't get back to me with a prescription til the 5th of October. I tried ordering the proper food off Amazon, which they need vet approval, and time went by, and I got denied for the food to help with her kidney's, due to their negligence of not responding. It's ludicrous cuz they are the ones who told me to put my dog on a special diet in the first place! So I'm watching my dog's health declining, while the vet doesn't respond to ANYTHING, and they just sit on their ass and collect ridiculous money! I don't know why my friend suggested this vet to begin with, but I'm pissed beyond belief! I also got a supplement to possibly help, which I emailed them about, to see if I could give it to my dog, and I still have yet to hear from them. The also charged me $25 to get her nails cut, which they didn't tell me the price til after the fact! Absolutely ridiculous! I'll go to Petco next time, cuz they are $10 cheaper. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!!!!! They don't give two shits about your pet, and they only care about the money!!! I'm definitely seeking out another vet ASAP!!!

They stood around talking for several minutes and didn't let us in. Finally they put us in a room where we sat for over an hour and a half before the doctor actually came in. Once again, this was for a euthanasia appointment. We were putting him down. The tech seemed to be in a rush and didn't offer us water for our dog or anything else to make him or us comfortable. Finally after 2 hours they administered the euthanasia. There were only two chairs in the office, and the floors were filthy and the room smelled like pee. Absolutely abhorrent to keep people waiting around for hours while they're scheduled to put their dog down. No one wants their dog to spend their last hours anxious from being trapped in a vet's office.

First I want to make sure everyone knows that the front desk ladies are very nice and understanding and just doing what they are told. But, the vet himself is a complete jerk. Mom noticed what looked like tape worm in both of her dogs feces. She took the samples in just to get confirmation on which type of worms they were so that we could treat for them. The worms were very clearly visible on and in the feces that were given. The lab test for both came back negative! My mom called and sent them the pictures of the feces with the worms and said there is no way! She requested a refund because they very clearly have some type of worms. Waiting for the vet to call back the next day, he called and said, I don't know why the test came back negative but your dogs do have worms. Well, Mr Rocket scientist. We already know that! What kind of worms? And why did I pay you to test my dogs so I could get a treatment plan and you tell me they have worms but they couldn't say which kind because their test didn't work. Just made a suggestion on the type. Are these people even sending the test out? Are the test faulty? And why am I paying you if you're not giving me the accurate results. The vet said, well, that's what happens sometimes. Well, that didn't help me at all. We want our money back because he diagnosed our dogs with worms based on his visual inspection of the pictures we sent to them. No confirmation on the type of worm. I call that stealing customers money. He refused to refund. Highly do not recommend this place strictly based on the arrogance of this vet and his unwillingness to make things right. We just threw away $100 for nothing. Can I give them no stars?!

Last Thursday night, we found our 14 year old female Jack Russell, Cleo, in a weakened and confused state on our dining room floor. The next morning, Cleo was even in worse shape very unstable and barely able to walk. We recognized that she was having a serious medical issue and unfortunately our local vet office in Gettysburg was closed on Friday. Taking a "long shot" we called Dr. Negola's office, explained the health emergency our dog was having and the staff there immediately understood the urgency of our issue. They worked hard to "sandwich" an appointment for our Cleo in between their existing busy schedule of appointments. We bundled Cleo up in the car and drove the 1 hour and 30+ minutes from Gettysburg to Columbia, MD. Cleo was seen by Dr. Negola less than 15 minutes after we arrived. He quickly determined that she had an abdomen full of blood and a tumor on her spleen. Shortly after that he had her in his operating room, performed major surgery to remove the ruptured tumor and her spleen, and saved her life. I can't say enough about Dr. Negola's (as well as his staff's) care, professionalism, expertise, understanding, and kindness. This is not the first time that Dr. Negola has saved the life of one of our dogs. He also saved the life of one of our labs when we lived in Maryland, and the life of a daughter's Jack Russell. My only regret is that we don't live closer to his veterinarian practice anymore. I can unequivocally recommend this veterinarian practice with no reservations.
