To my surprise, Jeff Caruso actually answered the phone when I called. I explained my situation to Jeff and he fit me in the next day! He was very personable and put my wife and I at ease right away with his knowledge and professionalism. Whatever the appraisal value, we were comfortable knowing it would be accurate. On the day of the appraisal he showed up on time and began taking the pictures outside that he needed. After introducing himself he completed his inside photos and then sat down with us to explain how everything would work. He was nice and professional. The appraisal was on a Saturday. By the afternoon of Monday the appraisal paperwork had been provided via email. They were quick and professional and I would recommend if you have appraisal needs.

Finally, I received a phone call from the owner on March 11, 2024. He said my stuff would be auctioned off on March 16th. It was auctioned off March 16th and they mailed me a check that I received today (March 20). They supposedly auctioned everything off for $3625. After all of their fees, I got $2110. I'm kind of disappointed because I don't think all the fees were explained adequately. The charge to pick up things was $25 a hour per person plus $250 for fuel/equipment. There were three people so that's $75 times 3 hours + $250. Total should be $475. They charged me $625. There is a $25 landfill charge (which was never brought up on the sheet I signed) but that still would only take it to $500. I clocked them being there about 3 hours, but they might've charged more. Also, I don't see the kitchen hutch anywhere on the inventory sheet they provided me, so I guess I wasn't paid for that. There's also some items on the inventory sheet marked $0. I don't know if that means they did not sell or what. If I had to it over again, I think I would have asked them come to the house first and give me an idea of what they would be interested in taking. Either that or tell them they have to take everything. I don't think all the expenses I had to pay were worth whatever I eventually made nor was the mess they left me to deal with. I wish I would've looked at other auction houses. I think I could've done a little better and had a better experience. If you have the time and you live near the property you're selling from, you're better off selling the contents yourself. Not recommended.
