Upon arrival

I think this might be my least favorite airport that I've ever been in. Flew in on a United flight and believe we were in the terminal/gates that only service United. Everything in the terminal was automated. No table service. All QR code based. Everything was closed. Very bizarre and unwelcoming. The customs and TSA lines were insane. Two people working and all the other lanes were closed. The entire airport was on a ground stop due to weather when we flew in and there was no staff providing updates anywhere. Over all just a terrible vibe.

I try to avoid layovers but this time I had no choice to spend four miserable and agonizing hours at Houston International Airport. Although they are making some much needed improvements. This airport is dingy, dirty, lacks hospitality, reeks of unpleasant turd odors, burnt food, and unwashed patrons. I did enjoy the art displays, moving walkway, and recliner seats onlooking the blue skies and Southwest airport apron. The female restrooms were attended to routinely: They offer free feminine hygiene products, red light that shows when a stall is occupied, baby changing area, and vanity area. The food did not look appealing Tex-Mex, Barbeque, etc. so I opted for a fruit cup, tater tots, and bottled water from Chickfil-A. It held me over for 90 mins and now it is time for lunch.

We were sit at gate E10, and the view of all the red lantern and background board is so beautiful. That is actually a restaurant!

Pros: Southwest hub Easy to navigate Not crazy crowded Some recliners available Nice piano music at center of airport Cons: Not enough food selections Feels like most are owned by Pappadeux chain and are crazy expensive - $20 for a burger?! Pro tip: Bring your own snacks and empty water bottle to fill when you get through security Listen to piano music if you have time

The coolest part of the airport are the pickup areas that are easy to get to and also convenient for the cars. Oh! I've also never seen a TripAdvisor store before so that was pretty neat. The airport is clean with clear direction of where to go. The restaurants, shops, and convenient stores are also clean and well stocked. I would definitely recommend Thai airport for layovers or for flying into Houston as more airlines offer flights that land here.

This airport is filthy and the construction makes it a nightmare to navigate. No thanks. Will try Houston hobby next time.

Having just left Logan,…read morethe main airport serving the behemoth region of Houston seemed like a Better Homes and Garden show. Clean, spacious, and comfortable. Plenty of restaurants, fast food, and souvenir outlets to suit every taste. I found service personnel to be quite courteous. I well remember when assigned to a diplomatic post in South America and there was only one airport flying to my post's destination. When Houston started flights there, it was like manna from heaven.

What really grinds my gears is taking my sweet time to create a online profile for a individual…read moreairline as well as enter in my travel credentials; like the KTN details, passport, etc just for it not to be on the boarding pass. In the event of reaching TSA, TWIC is not acceptable either if it's not on the boarding pass. So you'll have to find your way back to the service desk or self kiosk to add the deets AGAIN ON THEIR MACHINE, then print it out. Which will get you through check point quicker than standing in standard line. This is an update that'll be worth it. Allow travelers to enter their KTN. (Especially when they have provided it and the system error). I did it, an employer did it from their buddy pass profile; it's been provided twice and still didn't print on boarding pass was ridiculous, & embarrassing.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at baggage claim in Terminal C around 9:30 PM…read moretonight. The older woman working the baggage service desk was less than helpful and unnecessarily confrontational. When I asked for assistance regarding my checked bag after changing to an earlier flight, she told me it was "my job to know the baggage rules" and that she didn't want to help because she didn't want to risk getting fired. She stated, "United is looking for ways to fire the older people," which was both unprofessional and concerning. I'm just needing help with my families bags. She continued on and on how I should know the fine print before switching the flights and there's nothing she can do, which seemed like a cop out for being lazy. Earlier, United gate agents in SLC had asked for volunteers to move to an earlier flight due to delays out of Salt Lake City. We were told our bags would make the flight and, if not, they would be delivered. Based on that information, we agreed to switch flights. At baggage claim, instead of helping resolve the situation, she criticized how I keep my claim tickets stickers stuck on the back of my passport wallet. I store them on the back of my passport wallet (not on my passport itself), and I had to show her this after she questioned me about it saying it wasn't allowed on the passport. Why this was even a conversation I'm not sure, but I'm a seasoned traveler. I ultimately called customer service myself, and within 10 minutes they arranged luggage delivery without issue. United, if customer service is truly a priority, this is not the standard that should represent your baggage service team. Makes me want to cancel both our credit cards and fly a different airline.

Is it surprising that there is a gate full of people waiting to go to CLE at 7am on a Sunday?!?…read more Maybe not - maybe we would expect this to anywhere - especially a large Northern Ohio place like CLE! The terminal is clean and spacious - the folks are nice and friendly and I'm ready to fly the "Friendly Skies" for a week of work ahead!
