I love this big, spacious airport. It's not overly crowded, and it's clean. The floors, restaurants, bathrooms, and the seating areas are actualy clean, and not sticky. For me, this is a rarity, and a big deal. I am such a clean freak, I always clean, and disinfect the chairs, and tables I sit at when I'm at any airport. Thank you Houston for setting the bar high. I love seeing the kids kiosks, and play area. Having this for the kids (and parents) is such a smart idea. I'm sure the parents who have layovers, and delays appreciate it. I would have appreciated it when my kids were young. Thank you to all the staff we've encountered in different areas of the airport. They have all been pleasant, and helpful. Which is another rarity to find. Probably that southern charm. I want to personally thank Officer Vo at the Global Entry desk. the escalators has uv sanitizers included so that made me feel cleaner. food options are plentiful. the cuban place takes long but its worth the wait because the coffee is great and the cubano sandwich great even an hour later. lots of charging areas by the seats. read more

I was impressed by this airport after coming from BWI and noticing that there were simple things around, including hand sanitizer dispensers. This was simply enough to give an extra star! The children's play area is also a nice touch to the airport as well, including the pet rest area too. Houston takes care of all of the members of their traveling family! Even finding masks for the flight home was a breeze! read more

I think this might be my least favorite airport that I've ever been in. Flew in on a United flight and believe we were in the terminal/gates that only service United. Everything in the terminal was automated. No table service. All QR code based. Everything was closed. Very bizarre and unwelcoming. The customs and TSA lines were insane. Two people working and all the other lanes were closed. The entire airport was on a ground stop due to weather when we flew in and there was no staff providing updates anywhere. There's one thing TSA not going to work because of the government, but there's the other thing that whole airport is a mess. Nobody knows where everything goes. You have to pay for reservation parking. They don't let you know. The tram doesn't work half the time this entire airport is disgusting. I try to avoid layovers but this time I had no choice to spend four miserable and agonizing hours at Houston International Airport. Although they are making some much needed improvements. This airport is dingy, dirty, lacks hospitality, reeks of unpleasant turd odors, burnt food, and unwashed patrons. I did enjoy the art displays, moving walkway, and recliner seats onlooking the blue skies and Southwest airport apron. The female restrooms were attended to routinely: They offer free feminine hygiene products, red light that shows when a stall is occupied, baby changing area, and vanity area. The food did not look appealing Tex-Mex, Barbeque, etc. so I opted for a fruit cup, tater tots, and bottled water from Chickfil-A. It held me over for 90 mins and now it is time for lunch. read more

We were overall impressed! Best parts: + Security: There was zero line on a Friday afternoon. We would've missed our flight if their team hadn't been so helpful, quick, and organized. (THANK YOU!) + Restaurants: While we didn't have time to stop for a bite, their restaurants all had really cool aesthetics and looked delicious. + Airport stores: The main airport convenience store that we saw multiple times had tons of healthy snack options, which is usually hard to find at an airport. Siete Chips, Hu Chocolate, Lesser Evil Popcorn, Chomps, Catalina Crunch Cereal, etc. It was easy to grab some plane snacks that I'd feel comfortable feeding my one-year-old. Very cool. + Enterprise Car Rental: Best car rental experience ever. We walked up and they said "choose any car" and the keys are inside. We literally just walked up, put our stuff inside and drove off. When we dropped it off, we just left the keys in the car and walked away (which is what they told us to do). No waiting on either end. The coolest part of the airport are the pickup areas that are easy to get to and also convenient for the cars. Oh! I've also never seen a TripAdvisor store before so that was pretty neat. The airport is clean with clear direction of where to go. The restaurants, shops, and convenient stores are also clean and well stocked. I would definitely recommend Thai airport for layovers or for flying into Houston as more airlines offer flights that land here. read more

US Citizen on International flight from Amsterdam to Houston. 3 1/2 hour layover. Customs and security were a nightmare! Did not stop for bathroom break, eating, etc. figured we'd do that once we got through customs. Immigration/customs was stacked up with 5-6 arrivals. After a ONE mile walk to immigration took us 3 hours to get through! There was NO TSA pre check. Citizens and non-citizens in same lines. Most TSA security stations were closed. No A/C. No water!! Elderly people looked like they were going to keel over. Unbelievable and unacceptable! Then long walk to train and again to departure terminal. Thank goodness our next flight was late as we made it on-board with two minutes to spare! THREE AND A HALF HOURS! No time for ANY break! OMG - never through that airport again! read more

10/8/21 Quality/Quantity - Fairly large airport. Atmosphere - Easy in, Easy out! Place was clean and had many options. Got off our plane, hit the restroom, then baggage claim. Finding the Uber area was not a problem, Zone 5 for people that need to know. Service - N/A, self service, did not need help from anyone. Price - Flew Southwest, but that is for a different review. Owner Suggestion - Kudos to you and your team for keeping a smooth run airport. Would be nice to see a "Welcome to Houston" sign when we arrive, but maybe I was in a rush and missed it. read more

Huge airport with plenty of amenities for a long layover. I was in Concourse C and was blown away by the size. There are a lot of places to decide where to eat. I recommend Landry's Seafood. Across from Landry's is a Tex Mex and a pizzeria as well. I was here on a Monday evening. There wasn't as many people at the airport than anticipated. They also have various shops to browse for souvenirs for late gift shopping, on the way home to your destination. I don't recall ever flying into Houston before. First impression was good. But the experience was fun and it was neat when it was raining and we flew up and them above the clouds everything was perfect! No delays, nothing, recommended! Today I flew in from Dallas Fort Worth to Houston International Airport on United. Hunnnyyyy, it was a bit of a mess. By the grace of God our plane arrived safely. The flight attendants were awesome and kind... they even gave ya girl a free water because my head was hurting. (SN: I'm so grateful for TSA but I wish I could take my ice water filled Yeti through... Anyway I digress.) I exited the plane and began following the baggage claim signs. I quickly found out I would need to leave the terminal I'd arrived and travel to another terminal to the baggage claim in that terminal. Now... listen y'all... there were 2 signs. TWO. This is absolutely an area of improvement. It appeared as if there is typically a train but it wasn't working. I tried to proceed but was unsuccessful. So, I stopped and asked an employee and he told me I should take the elevator down and follow signs. Another couple joined me because they too were lost. Eventually there were no signs on our path. I even attempted to use a help phone but it was not working. So we caught another employee exiting an elevator and asked her. She told us to go back up the elevator and we'd be in the right location. It was pretty annoying trying to navigate without support or signage. As soon as the doors of the elevator opened I saw my luggage. I ran! This is a very cramped airport despite being sprawling. The hallways are about 10 feet too narrow for the number of people stuck in this airport. It's a great place to catch the flu. Food prices are appalling examples of prices gouging. read more

Horrible airport. Do not expect to be served at a bar or restaurant. You HAVE to order your food and drinks on an IPad and then they bring you your order. If you have a special order or drink then you're out of luck. And.....you ARE expected to tip! The prices are extremely high, you get no service for the high prices. Houston international is a good airport in the south central area of the US. I've flown through here a few times and have never been disappointed. The last two stops here have been at the breakfast rush hour. The food court is small and can get quite busy at those peak times. There's not a lot of seating at each gate. Generally this means you can sit a gate or two away from your departure area. All in all this is a clean and functional airport. read more

I was traveling to Cabo from EWR and had a quick layover in Houston. When we arrived our next gate was in a different terminal so we quickly took the air train which was fast and efficient. It was so easy to find the gate and on our way to the gate i noticed how they have a United lounge. If i had more time i definitely would have gone to the United lounge. read more

Nightmare began ---came in from Tampa to catch the connecting flight from Houston to Sacramento. My Tampa to Houston flight was delayed. I only had roughly 20-25 minutes to get from Gate E to Gate C. I had to sprint down a very long hallway, hang a right down another very long hallway to the Tram to Gate C. Then, poll volt from the very long C hallway to my Gate. Did actually make it with no breath left to spare. Saw several motorized vehicles going in the opposite direction. Wonder if any would've given me a lift. Not the best airport to navigate when you have a really tight connection! Which they had something faster to get down the very long hallways, motorized bike, scateboard, or roller skates maybe? This is your average big airport. It's large and you can sometimes get screwed if your connection gate is across the airport when you arrive. I have been delayed out of this airport a few times which always sucks. There is a huge variety of food here and some even healthy! read more
