Dr Garza was very thorough with his exam after listening to way I was there. He was very good at his explanation of what he found and made sure I understand him. After all this he asked me if there was anything else he could do for me. I would definitely recommend him and his staff to you and my family. Hope you never need to see an optometrist, but if you do I hope you go see Dr Garza with Berkley Eye Center. Richard Clark.

On September 1, I visited Berkley Eye Center in Sugar Land for a contact lens prescription and was…read moreseen by Dr. Hoang. Before the exam, I told the staff I was paying cash and asked what it would cost. I was told the price would be between $50 and $250. During the exam, Dr. Hoang asked why I was declining dilation. I explained that, for whatever reason, my eyes stay dilated for a couple of days. She told me it only takes a few hours to return to normal. I said I understood that is typical, but it is not my experience. Her response was, "I am not going to argue with you." I was left confused, since no one was arguing. I did not owe anyone an explanation. A patient can decline a procedure without giving a reason. I chose to be upfront about how my own eyes respond, and I was talked down to for it. A doctor should listen to what a patient says about their own body, not dismiss it. When I checked out, the bill was $391. I had another appointment and needed to leave quickly, so I pointed out that the bill was higher than the quote and asked them to send me an itemized bill. It never came. I called and left a message, and it took until the second day to reach anyone. After I finally received the itemized bill, I called billing, and they sent me to Jessica, the office manager. Jessica told me I had received a standard exam. I asked how a standard exam could come to $391 when I was quoted a maximum of $250. She said her notes showed I was quoted a *minimum* of $250. That is not what I was told. Why would a cash paying patient agree to an exam with no upper limit on the price? The right answer was simple: honor the $250 quote. Instead, the focus was on proving the office was right, not on taking care of the patient. That tells me everything about their priorities. When a patient asks for a price up front, the practice should give a clear and honest answer and stand behind it. If you are paying cash, get your quote in writing before you are seen. I will not be returning.

He demands excellence from his assistants; in the one instance I witnessed where a new assistant did not follow protocol in preparing me for my exam he had her in, quickly explained the correct procedure to her, ask if she understood/had any questions & then sent her back to her duties. As a witness to this I was glad to see that this mistake was corrected immediately in a firm but caring way the young lady did not seem to be embarrassed -- problem corrected without demeaning anyone & demonstrating to me that he cared for his patients and staff too. He sincerely apologized for the 10 min delay and then thanked me for my patience. He is pleasant to be around and will take the time to explain and answer Q's. I will not ever hesitate to recommend his services to anyone (especially if you prefer an MD over an optometrist).

Not all but most of the staff members are just not nice, especially the optometrist-Wanda. The prices of frames/lenses without good insurance are just through the roof. ($325 for the pair my daughter needed) so I looked online to potentially order her a pair from a website for a cheaper price- the website needed her pupillary distance but the office wanted to charge $25 to give it to me (not listed on her prescription) I was also told it "generally isn't given out to pediatric patients and would have to ask Dr. Bulan if it were ok" do they do this purposely so you have to buy glasses from them? Just ridiculous.

I first visited Dr Joseph right before the pandemic, and I just had an appointment with him again…read morelast week. Out of all the businesses I have ever been to, Dr Joseph and his staff provide the single best customer service experience i have ever had. I am not comparing him to another optometrist, I truly mean any business. Dr Joseph is incredibly kind and helpful. While performing my eye exam, every question/concern I had (which was several) was happily answered and explained in a way that I could easily understand. I never felt like he was rushing to end my appointment. He kept making adjustments until i had the best possible outcome. When he was looking at the photo of my eye, I asked if he could explain what he was looking at. He gladly described to me everything that he was looking at, and what exactly that means for my vision. When it was time to pick out my frames, I was the most indecisive I have ever been in my life. The kind woman at the front desk came over to see if I needed any help, and I asked if he she would give her opinion on some of the frames I was thinking about. She gave some great advice and helped me narrow down my choices. I was still a bit unsure, so I asked Dr Joseph if he would share his opinions on the few that i had. He sat down with me and shared, in his opinion, the pro's and con's of each pair. He did not try to up-sale me on an expensive pair. He truly wanted me to choose the pair that I felt was best for me. If you are like me, and are looking at every optometrist within 50 miles for the perfect choice, stop now and go see Dr Joseph. You will not receive a better eye exam or customer service experience anywhere.

While browsing, staff watched me closely, making me feel like a potential thief rather than a customer. It was frustrating and left a poor first impression. Pros: Acknowledged walk-ins exist. Cons: No proactive scheduling option or follow-up. Uncomfortable, watchful atmosphere. Lacked warmth and welcoming service. Suggestions: offer future-appointment options, greet customers, explain wait times, and create a friendlier, more inviting environment.
