My buyers felt it was the best inspection experience in all of the years they have purchased homes!

If you are looking for a home inspector, save yourself a headache and money and AVOID…read moreHouseMasters! We had them perform a full home, radon, water and termite inspection for our new home last month. Needless to say, it was horrible! To start, the gentlemen doing the inspection (who stated that he has been doing it for 7 years), found powder post beetle damage, when I asked if it was a concern, he stated it wasn't but he was going to put it in the report to "cover his a$$". Numerous times, I asked him if it should be a concern that we bring up in our inspection period and each time I received the same answer, "NO". However, when our mortgage company wanted written documentation of this lack of concern, he refused to write one stating "he didn't feel comfortable doing that". Although, he felt comfortable telling me the opposite, so I didn't address it in my inspection period rebuttal with the sellers, disallowing me the ability to have the sellers fix this issue. Then, when I called the manager to get clarification on issue, I was talked down to, interrupted and belittled. It wasn't until I freaked on the manager that he stopped. Then, 20 minutes later, the loan company received a letter stating the damage was not a concern, and I received a bill stating that HouseMasters was charging me $50 for a special request fee to write the letter....first of all, I shouldn't be charged for them correcting their own mistake and 2. They wrote one short paragraph in the letter...This fee was never once mentioned, nor did I agree to being charged a fee over the phone and I believe was done solely on the fact that I pissed the manager off. Additionally, there were countless items throughout the inspection that were missed by the inspector, that I had to point out. Then, once we moved in, we found other items (cables running through heating ducts, improper water tubing ran straight through the kitchen floor, and electrical wiring that had been cut and was still hot ( just to name a few that were missed). These failures to identify, not only are a hazard to my family, but will cost thousands of dollars to repair out of my pocket, when we could have had the sellers repair them or could have steered away from buying this house. Needless to say, STAY AWAY, from HouseMasters, they have been horrible from start to finish!
