Wide selection of games; competitively priced; friendly and knowledgeable staff. Been a fan of the FB page for a while. When I learned that they are in Dallas and had a work trip in town, made it a top priority to stop by and buy something. Even if you're passing through, make it a priority to swing by for the game you're eyeing. read more

Big fan of house rules. Have bought some of my favorite games here - the owner does a great job of advertising the games on his social media. I also find myself still coming back to shop with these guys despite living further away because their prices are very competitive with local board game stores. When possible & reasonable, we try to shop local instead of Amazon for board games - House Rules makes that realistic a good amount of the time! BTW, they ship as well :) read more

Well organized and spacious. Lots of great stuff in here but sometimes they only have the kickstarter versions of games so that might cost extra, even if you only wanted the base game. I love the farmers market store as well, extremely well curated and the manager over there is awesome. She always recommends great games! read more

Super cute game store with locations in bishop arts and downtown by the farmers market. They have everything you could want packed into a small space. Joanna is the best! Also- i picked up some fun new games and puzzles to make. Excited for my new goodies. read more

I stopped by House Rules Games with my brother last weekend when I was visiting Dallas and we were exploring Bishop Arts. The store isn't large (and has a mildew-y smell that suggested the might need a dehumidifier?) but it was very well stocked with an incredible array of board games of all kinds! We had happened upon House Rules Games (we saw their sign and wandered around the corner to check it out), but we left with two board games, some Magic: The Gathering cards and some Pokemon cards (most of what we bought were gifts). The customer service was great also - very friendly and helpful. A great little shop that is well worth a visit if you're interested in board games! read more

House Rules Games - Tabletop Games Near Me - Dallas, Texas

For such a small store, they have an amazing variety of games. And they sell pretty much everything modern for booster packs for various TCG games. But the most amazing thing about this store are the prices. Everything here was cheaper than I could possibly get from like Amazon and even my local game store. The cashier was friendly and answered all my questions. Next time I come to town I'm coming straight to here. read more

Great little store in a really fun and touristy part of Bishop Arts District. Owner is super knowledgeable and very friendly! What I loved most about this store was how many kickstarter games were available to buy. Lots of truly rare finds! read more

This is a wonderful game shop in Bishop Arts District. I love browsing through the array of games they have. Mentally storing ideas of gifts for family and friends. Depending of who's managing the store, different perspectives I've received of games. A lot of times finding something fun and new for my regular party game nights at home. Yes, I can buy them online but on top of supporting a local business, it feels great this old fashioned way of being instantly gratified of holding that newly bought and carrying it out the store. CHEERS! read more

The owner is pretty cool but the younger guy did not help and doesn't seem interested in the business at all I tried to purchase packs for my son asked him to call the owner he opens boxes and sells the packs as usual he sat there like he had no intention of texting him about a purchase from a customer that comes almost daily now BAD FOR BUSINESS. CALL BEFORE YOU GO HOPEFULLY THE OWNER IS THERE!!! read more

A gem of a store nestled in Bishop Arts. Owner Stephen is the GOAT when it comes to game board knowledge and competitive pricing. Impressed they are able to maximize the space and fit such a wide range of games. A customer for life. read more

This store has VERY reasonably priced games. Cheaper than online prices anywhere. A very wide selection too, separated by play style of the different games. The owner is very nice and has played every game in the shop. And on top of that he can explain any game you have questions about with ease. Seriously, if I could have that dude at every game night to explain games to me and my friends, I would. read more

The best FLGS in the area! Stephen is amazing; his knowledge and expertise in the industry and his friendly demeanor are why we keep going back! Not to mention everything is 20% off MSRP. Always. Thank you, Stephen, for making us feel like family every time we walk in! read more

Solid local game shop in Bishop Arts with a solid selection of board games (not so much on the miniatures or collectibles) and an engaging staff. Wish there was more room for onsite gaming and a few war game titles, but I'm not complaining. read more

Stephen and his staff are so informative. Helpful and kind. Could not imagine a better game shop in this neighborhood. Overly competitive prices and a full knowledge from MtG to Pokémon to Tabletop, this is the spot. read more

This place rocks. I've been in here twice in the last month or two and the man running the store was both personable and knowledgeable about all of the games we asked about (both party games and more dense strategy games). While we were in the store, another couple came in asking about a game he was unfamiliar with and he made note of it to research and test out so he could consider stocking it. Overall was just really impressed with the place, and will continue visiting whenever we want to add a new game to the collection! read more

Place is pretty cool, however, the guy at the register didn't even acknowledge that I was in the shop. He was talkative with another group of people, but once they were gone it's like I wasn't even there. Not even "a hello, or anything you're looking for in particular" read more

This is the ONLY game store you need. Stephen curates a great mix of games. Gateway and party games up front, TCGs, euros then mid-heavy games towards the back. A tight selection of D&D and other RPGS and even some Warhammer/40K merch. Aaand, Stephen backs and retails Kickstarters. He does this all with something like 20% markdown, which is competitive with online stores. Except here, you can hold the game in your hands, and Stephen will tell you all about it. read more

The go to spot for board games! They have a thoughtfully curated selection, ranging from indie discovers to popular crowd pleasers. If you're into DnD like me, they've got essentials too like maps, dice, and books. Stephen the store owner is so knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I walked in yesterday not knowing what to pick up but left happily with Lords of Waterdeep and plans to organize a game night!! My best friend who came with me got a great recommend on a LoreSymth book for her group's upcoming campaigns. Check this place out!! read more

My experience at House Rules Games was absolutely amazing. Stephen, the owner of the shop, was kind, knowledgeable and attentive. You can tell that board games are his passion and he will gladly explain any game to you. The selection is awesome, with games that are probably harder to find in other stores and even including kickstarter games. The prices are incomparable, definitely the best in the DFW. Everything about my experience there was A+ and I can't wait to go back and support a local/small business that is of quality service, product and full of passion. read more

When I went there in the store was my favorite cards Pokémon and the person there was very nice and if you like Pokémon or other card games you must be able to make it there read more

House Rules was designed as a solution to a common problem: how can you support your local game store without breaking the bank, often spending 20% more than you would at online retailers? Go here. Everything is cheaper (seriously everything) than it would be on the big name websites, they provide fantastic shopping advice for players of all experience levels, and have an incredible selection of often very difficult to find kickstarter games, not to mention nice DND, TCG, and classics collections. As someone that loves the hobby and has a decent collection at this point, I really wish I would've found this place sooner. It's become a go-to spot for my wife and I to pick up a new game to try out. We've gotten everything from three hour long, massive tabletop games to simple crowd-pleasing party games here. After a half dozen or so trips, we've never been disappointed here. I really hope this place is here to stay because it really deserves to. read more

I live in Houston, this is the best board game store I've been to by far. They have a great selection of games. Some are game I can't find anywhere else! The prices are extremely competitive especially for a FLGS. I will be visiting every time I'm in town! read more

Great game selection, the best local prices by far. Owner is super friendly and loves bord games as much as you!

Walked in to browse and left with a couple new games. Staff was very friendly but didn't hover over me, which I appreciate as an introvert because nothing is worse than someone staring at you the whole time. Extremely helpful when I had questions. Great spot, will return. read more

Searched online and locally for Cyberpunk Red but no joy. Found House Rules Games and they had it in stock. Easy to find, cool locale and an awesome array of product. Boardgames, some miniature games and pretty much all the latest RPGs. Some of which I wasn't even aware of and I review games on youtube. Cool store, good vibe, good music...oh and it smells good in there...a game store...that smells really good. Kudos. Oh...they discount product there, don't know if its everything but I got my stuff at about 15% off. Worth the drive. read more

The employee was very off putting when I was trying to have a conversation about board games. I would have made a purchase if he had been more friendly. Disappointed with the experience because the shop was cool. read more

Fantastic little game shop with an excellent inventory for its size -- really great pricing on everything too. The owner is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the hobby, and his enthusiasm talking about recommendations and new/upcoming releases is infectious. As someone who already has way too many games, this shop frankly poses a pretty significant threat to my already-at-near-capacity board gaming bookshelf, and I can't wait to make it back over here again. read more

This is the best board game shop I've been to by a landslide! Prices are amazing and Stephen knows every game like the back of his hand. He can explain every game and the dynamics of it and find a game that suits your needs. There is such a wide selection of games and he even has games that I've been looking for for a while now! It's rare to find such a fantastic place that makes you feel welcome right when you walk in the door! read more
