Rude customer service. Purchased door over 1,000$ missing screws and cut out for dead bolt. Called to inquire and was told that I must have hired a "shoddy" handyman to install if they didn't even have screws to install. These people shouldn't work in customer service. So Rude. We bought a high-end fiberglass door with sidelights a number of years ago. The glass in the door and sidelights all leaked from the get go. They did come out 2X and replace the glass insert but each time they eventually all leaked again. I am not sure why, the glass installation must be inferior and drys out over time. We purchased our Therma-Tru fiberglass front door and side lights from House of Doors back in 2004. The door continues to be functionally sound but the exterior finish has suffered sun fading. Called Paul at House of Doors for suggestions on stripping/refinishing. He was very helpful in providing guidance/instructions on the product to use for stripping (Acetone) and had a kit for the stain/finish on hand. We are grateful for the ongoing support from House of Doors and Paul's counsel specifically. read more

Only 1 start b/c I have too. Bought Bifold closet doors at big box store for odd-sized openings. I had to cut everything to size, and it wasn't as clean as I would like. I figured, let me get it done right and buy the right size. Thought - well, House of Doors, right? This is what they do. Went to HOD and ordered 2 hollow core bifold doors to the tune of over $500 with cutting and blocking, paid in advance. Wasn't cheap, but figured I was gonna get a good product. I was told by the salesperson that I would need to drill the post holes myself. So I kept that piece of info in the back of my hear for when I would install them. Called the salesperson back once I got home and gave him the right measurement on the 2nd door as he had asked me to do. He mentioned nothing more, other than he would cut and block the top and bottom to keep it even. Didn't mention it would cost anything more for the even more odd size. After all, I already paid for that. Went to pick up the doors and clearly I asked the most bizarre question to the guy at the counter: Is there a guide or template on where to drill the holes? Because that's the pivot point, and for such expansive closet doors, I didn't want to destroy them with a single drill hold. This question was apparently too much for the staff, and required a second person to brainstorm on, only to later find out that the person who blocked the doors was nice enough to have drilled the holes (more on that in a moment.). Icing on the cake, guy at the desk asked me to pay an additional $60.00 + tax for extra work. I agreed, but expressed my discontent, as I had already paid for the extra work. So I guess this was for extra, extra work. He huffed and told me not to worry about it. Got the doors home, and saw that the boxes said the doors were 2" larger than my opening. After a quick heart flutter, I saw that they put the doors into different boxes. Why, I don't know. These doors were JenWeld (yes, that is what house of doors sold me) Home Depot doors at twice the price (I know this because of what I mentioned in the beginning...already did this myself). Hung the first door with the pins they provided in the box, but on an existing track. Bam, one down. Went to tap the pins in the 2nd door, and the drill holes were on an angle. Pro tip: Doors on tracks like to hang straight, not on an angle. Some gentle tapping on the pins to try to square them made the laminate separate from the blocking. Plus the pin anchors were already stuck, so I couldn't remove them and try to burrow out the holes better. Not happy. 2nd to last step, install the track and bottom door jamb brace. Get track from box...yep, 2" longer than the opening. So, here I have 28" doors (only cut for height, not width) packed in 30" different brand boxes, with the wrong-sized hardware. Out come the tin snips, cut off 2 inches, install the track. Those nice angled holes? Also in the wrong spot, which changed the pivot point and angle where the door opens. So, move the track to literally outside of the door opening, with just enough room for the screws to grab. Know what else does not play well with angled, under-sized holes? Springs on the pins. Totally shot. Tried fixing stuff that I paid a lot for to be done right, and the 2nd door barely stays on track. I'm pretty good at this stuff, but the hollow core I got from Big Box were chipping on my table and circular saws. Just figured - let me invest the money to make sure it was done right. I was wrong. I called the manager and expressed my dissatisfaction. He didn't say so much as "ok," or "uh-huh," throughout the entire time I spoke - to the point that I had to ask him if he was still there. Even though I kept a calm demeanor and asked for nothing other than to bring these issues to their attention, they offered nothing to fix the situation, and he ended with, "I'll let everyone know." Save your money and a bit of sanity. Don't shop here. Way overpriced Home Depot junk, with shoddy craftsmanship, and zero customer service skills. read more

My wife & I visited the Cheshire store this past Thursday late in the afternoon. We were reluctantly greeted by an older fella who looked at us as if he was completely confused as to the purpose of our visit. After informing him that we were looking for a front door his help consisted of pointing to where the doors were (like we couldn't see them right behind us) and telling us that glass could be added to any door. Our visit lasted no more than three minutes as there wasn't any point to us staying any longer. What a waste of time! read more

Our contractor suggested looking here for our door. When we arrived, all three associates were helping other customers. After choosing a door, we waited near the registers to be helped. At this time, no one had even initiated contact to say hi, we will be with you soon, etc. We patiently waited. Two associates walked with in inches of me but still failed to acknowledge me. When one associate finished, he walked to help a customer that just walked in the door. They lost a sale today. read more

Will never use these people again!! I went there to give business to support small local business instead of big box stores. My door leaked from day one. It took me (3) weeks to get a rep to my house with constant phone calls and finally someone showed up. The rep gave me a line of BS that no door is water tight and that it was normal for the door to be leaking (ya right). Then he tried to sell me on a storm door. The best part is that he never even called me back to give me a price on a storm door. So I went to home depot and bought a storm door. I do not recommend this place at all, they are over priced and have poor quality products and even poorer customer service. I will never use this place again. Shame on them!!! read more
