So I am not new to vets, treatments, personalities, and things that are routine. At first, the female vet seemed helpful. She is quite personable, HOWEVER, the first red flag was when she never addressed the first issue that we came in with - cat having a runny nose, difficulties breathing. Instead, she provided all these other initial treatments (vaccines, ear cleaning, deworming, vitamin shots, blood tests) which is fine. Fairly routine for a first visit, but still not addressing the initial issue we came in for. The second red flag was when she informed us that there wasn't enough blood drawn in order to perform secondary tests. So we had to come in again for another stressful blood draw. Cat is skittish and can be difficult, so any extra, unnecessary visits are STRESSFUL. The third red flag is that we were informed that because the cat is feisty, we'd have to pay for and administer ourselves a calming medication PRIOR to yet another visit. In all my years of bringing my own cat to the vet, I've never heard of such a thing. Usually vets are prepared to handle any kind of pets with all sorts of demeanors. Not sure why the onus is put back onto the pet owner to pre-drug pets prior to visit. It wasn't until 3rd visit that the issue of the runny nose/breathing difficulty were finally addressed. I did ask why vet never assisted with this during the first visit and she claimed that since cat was young, she didn't want to start her on antibiotics right away. Strange explanation. When blood tests did come back, there were some elevated creatine/protein levels. HOWEVER, no one from the clinic pointed these numbers out as potential issues. When we finally called to ask them about it, vet claimed everything was "normal" and that some numbers are elevated due to pet being stressed. Cat died within a month of this claim. Overall, it was an extremely stressful and unpleasant experience at this office. Although they did initially seemed to care, I walked away thinking that this was a big business. Many unnecessary treatments/meds were prescribed to benefit the clinic as opposed to helping the pet.

I also recommended that my friend move her puppy to this clinic because other one was pricey and I believe she is happy too. I will continue to take my puppy here, he got all his shots, and even did an xray for me months ago when he had tummy issues. Lucky for me he didn't see anything wrong other than a small piece of balloon /toy that he letter passed. He is having tummy issues again and I would like to get him in soon for a visit.

The procedures went fine and we thought everything was a-okay. I have had the cat at home with me since that day. Today I had to bring the cat to my Vet because there was something wrong with his ears. Well go figure my Vet says the poor baby has EAR MITES and has had them for a very very long time (this cat is only 1). So how does this happen that Brookfield didn't catch this while they said they were doing a full check up on him.... I don't understand this. The cats original owner and I are EXTREMELY upset about the lack of care, from Brookfield, regarding this matter.

During the treatment period, I raised concerns several times that the medication seemed to be affecting him poorly. Unfortunately, these concerns were not taken seriously. After the last dose, he began having seizures. At no point were we clearly informed about the potential neurological side effects of this medication or advised about warning signs to watch for. We are devastated. Neo was deeply loved, and we spent years caring for him through sleepless nights, significant emotional strain, and substantial medical costs. I am sharing this in the hope that the clinic will remind its veterinarians and technicians to carefully discuss the potential side effects of medications like this and to listen closely when owners report concerns. If this message helps prevent another family from going through the same loss, Neo's story will have mattered.

Good afternoon, I…read morewanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to everyone at Burnhamthorpe Animal Hospital for the exceptional care you provided to my pets -- my cat Honey and my dogs Chanel and Dior -- during their spay procedures. From the moment we walk through your doors, it is clear how much compassion, professionalism, and genuine care your entire team has for animals. My pets are always calm and comfortable in your care, which speaks volumes about the environment you create and the trust you build with both pets and their owners. I am especially thankful for the attentiveness shown during their aftercare. The follow-up calls and check-ins truly meant so much to me and gave me great peace of mind knowing that Honey, Chanel, and Dior were recovering well and being closely monitored. It is rare to find a veterinary team that goes above and beyond in this way, and it does not go unnoticed. Thank you for treating my pets as if they were your own. I am incredibly grateful to have such a caring and dedicated veterinary team and would not hesitate to recommend Burnhamthorpe Animal Hospital to anyone looking for outstanding animal care. With heartfelt thanks, Chantal Moore

Burnhamthorpe Animal Hospital Review…read more I initially found the staff at Burnhamthorpe Animal Hospital to be very friendly. However, when I inquired about the cost of vaccinations, which were $210 each time compared to $70 at other clinics, the staff member became very rude. When I mentioned that their prices were expensive, she abruptly hung up on me. To make matters worse, one visit to Burnhamthorpe Animal Hospital costs more than three visits to other places. Who can afford this over $600 just for first year vaccinations. Never mind checkups and Rabies shots. This experience was quite disappointing and unprofessional.

We came in 10 minutes early and found out from the lone receptionist Christine that the doctor was running late stuck in traffic coming from Etobicoke. The roads are usually very light on traffic on Saturday mornings, so we found this a bit odd. Regardless, we accepted what was relayed to us by Christine. Christine sounded like she was in a rush for some reason, despite there being only one other customer waiting. My mother has to work today in Toronto at 10:00 am, so she was worried if she would be late to work depending on how far away the doctor was. My mother asked Christine (receptionist) if she could call the doctor and see how far away he was. Christine refused to accommodate this simple request that would have taken her literally one minute of her time, and just repeated that the doctor just called her. My mother again informed the Christine that she had to get to Toronto by 10:00 am and feared she would be late. Christine in an uncaring and sarcastic attitude told her "well if you want your dog to see the doctor, you'll just have to wait". Gee, Christine, that is the whole point of us coming 10 minutes early for our dog to see the doctor, isn't it? When someone comes to the vet, isn't it clear they want their pet to see the doctor? At this point we didn't say anything to stir up an argument with a single customer waiting. What kind of response is this? We found Christine to have exhibited extremely poor customer service. Not one time did she say sorry, not one time was she accommodating or even trying to accommodate a simple request that would have taken her one minute of her time, and not one time did Christine ask us whether or not we wanted to reschedule our appointment. Even as we decided to leave because of Christine's poor attitude, she didn't try to rectify the issue. Christine was not able to handle her job as a receptionist; she was already stressed out with two waiting customers. We will take our business elsewhere. Such a simple preventable attitude cost your employer easy money. Christine please go back and take some more customer service courses, you clearly need it.
