Just wanted to share the absolutely APPALLING treatment I received yesterday from the staff at LVAH…read morefor both myself & my rescue bulldog -- I am beyond drained and defeated by this experience. As someone who doesn't have a ton of money, is a dog walker, a cat sitter & who pours absolutely everything they have into their pet, this left me absolutely gutted and completely changed my opinion on constantly defending the veterinary profession from people who always say they're only out to money grab--y'all are absolutely right (at least in this case). And I hate admitting that (after working/volunteering for almost a decade in shelter medicine, I've practically seen it all). For anyone interested in what happened (sorry it's a long one): I arrived at 5:03 pm in the parking lot for my 5 pm appointment (you have to call them, they won't let you in, & by the time I got Cherry Pie (CP) ready aka outta the car, I called at 5:06, well within the 10 minute cut-off for the appointment. I have attached all the timestamped calls from my phone if anybody wants proof of any of the following calls from either party.) They said come on over to the front door, they're just finishing up with a client, so they'll be right with me. I drop CP off, as clients are no longer allowed in the vet office due to Covid protocols, & go back to my partner's who lives in LV on Western Battery Rd to wait for their call as per usual, once they've performed their exam and have some findings to report/questions to ask (since I cannot be in the room myself, and am not going to sit in my car for 1+ hours.). They call me back at 5:31 pm to discuss various findings for 18 mins, & then the vet calls again at 6:12 pm for another 9 mins after I had to go down to my car, find a medication she's been on (I asked if they wanted her stuff/meds to be left with her when I dropped her off & they declined), read it to the vet & discuss next steps. They called me at 6:26 to let me know CP was good to go (& her invoice estimate). I tried them back at 6:27 (it said cancelled) and we finally connected at 6:29 pm. In that 34 seconds they informed me that they closed at 6 PM, how soon could I get there, I said about 15 mins, they informed me that was unacceptable & that I would be charged a LATE FEE because their staff doesn't run a daycare & SHE was keeping them there late. ...excuse me? The last time I checked, It was NOT my fault YOUR STAFF was STILL TREATING HER past YOUR closing time. & 15 minutes is barely enough time to cross a parking lot, let alone get there from someone's house when you're not allowed to wait inside. I'm not sure what you expect but it seems to me like the staff just wanted to go home & this is price gouging AT ITS FINEST. I was not warned at the start of my appointment you closed at 6. Nor was I warned about "late fees". Or that there was a race/arbitrary cutoff time for me to come collect my dog (apparently under 15 mins from when they call to say they're done with the exam--this has never happened before--I've literally picked her up 1.5+ hours later & it's been fine. *the BIGGEST eyeroll*) I said as much to the girl when I went to pay my bill--which she refused to show me by the way, until I insisted on her printing one out for me--& that's the first I even saw the late fee--talk about trying to sweep it under the rug--I feel lucky to have even caught it because I got there in less than 15 mins from when they called and informed me of this "new (to me) policy"... I told her...either take the late fee off my tab, or I'm not paying for this invoice today. She claimed she didn't have the authority to do so, which I know isn't/couldn't be the case, because she was the only one there, or I said call me tomorrow, you have all my contact info, I'm more than happy to pay for services actually rendered, & left. (I know--from working in the exact same position--if I paid that entire bill there's 0 chance I would have ever gotten a refund on that late fee. At that point it's the principle, not the money that I'm fuming about). When I called TO PAY MY BILL TODAY, they told me I was lucky they didn't call the cops!! I told them they were lucky I didn't report them for fraud LOLOL just amazing customer service guys, fantastic job. I have secondhand embarrassment FOR YOU. (that's in addition to the time when my dog's cone broke in a week from the shit quality you provided & instead of providing me a new one, they told me to 'use some duct tape for the next month' or I can purchase a brand new one, they told me to 'use some duct tape for the next month' or I can purchase a brand new one again....LMAO) Clients, make your own decisions, but I cannot for the life of me imagine why you'd want to be associated with such customer service idiots. Needless to say I won't be returning (and I suggest many of you check your invoices before you do as well). Future/current clients of LVAH beware. You may not even be aware of late fees you've been charged...

Dr. Debski was apparently informed of her behavioural nature and still man-handled her with abrupt and harsh movements, prying open her mouth and making her feel instantly unsafe. They don't charge huge fees and always recommend what is in the best interest of the animal. My last cat had problems with pancreatitis. Dr. Jen Hodges was quickly able to diagnose the problem and recommend a simple solution: change in diet and feline defuser - when he was acute sometimes he also needed medicine and fluids. Dr. Beverly Bateman suggested a tool called the furminator to remove excess hair and reduce hairballs. This holistic approach kept him in great shape for years, although he eventually had to be put down. After four years, I have a new, older adoptee. When I brought my senior cat to Dr. Bateman, she was a sickly cat. She had serious eye problems and an acute flare-up of feline herpes. Dr. Bateman helped to quickly resolve it and within a few short weeks she was looking like a healthy cat! Dr. Bob Watson also efficiently helped resolve a wound she had on her ear. Your pets are their passion - they will return every phone call and email, and take such good care of them. They partner with you to take care of your pets at every stage of life, and I honestly wouldn't trust my pets to anyone else.

I've been taking our pets to Leslieville Animal Hospital for several years. I think they're…read morereliable and the people are very friendly. However, they have some unreasonable policies that prioritize profit over animals and service. For example, I recently took my 12 year old cat in for a regular appointment and to have his teeth checked (he has FIV and a history of dental issues and we've spent over $5000 having his teeth cleaned here since we adopted him). I was told he should have another dental surgery for cleaning and possible tooth removal. LAH provided me with a quote which was good for 90 days. I decided to move forward with the surgery but didn't let them know until about 120 days after I received the quote. I was then told that the quote had expired and had to bring him back in for another check up, no exceptions. This was irritating as he is an anxious animal who hates the car and I had to take time out of my day and off work. I explained this but they didn't care. I went ahead and booked another appointment anyway. The next appointment resulted in an identical quote and we booked his dental appointment the next week. A couple of months later, during the week of his appointment, they called and told me they had to cancel because the surgeon was sick. They said they could re-book if for the next month even though they pushed his surgery beyond the 90 day window and he wouldn't need another appointment. To summarize.. they made me come back to their office even though it stressed out my cat, cost me an extra ~$150 in vet bills, required I take time off work and delayed my cats surgery. But they were fine doing that exact same thing just a couple of months later. Which proves that they never NEEDED me to come back in in the first place. I'm not happy but I trust the people that work there. I hope the company that owns the clinic re-thinks it's profit-driven policies in the future.

Not something I expected from a so-called 'hoslitic' vet. I ended up buying something i didnt need to buy and felt scammed by the end of it. Maybe i caught her on a bad day, obviously others have had better experiences, but i felt i wasted a lot of money, my time and traumatized my cat and a vet tech who took my cat out of the room without asking- they had to do blood tests of course- but, another part of why i went to Rona is because they were one of the few places allowing humans in the appointments. There was no way i was leaving my cat alone with a vet. I've had him since birth and he is more a child to me than an 'animal' i have to feed a couple times a day. Anyways, good luck!
