I find their weight room can get really busy, which is unfortunate, while the cardio room offered lots of machines to choose from. They do seem very community oriented and the facilities are encouraging/motivating, which is half the battle. The equipment I used was in good shape. Their prices are steep, but I'm looking at a promo rate at the moment which is competitive for what they offer, which is impressive. As far as facilities go: -cardio room w/ exercise mats, -basketball gym, -swimming pool, -weight room, -sauna, -change rooms w/ lockers without locks and showers -a locked space for your wallet/keys -lots of community events and exercise classes -cafe and store I've probably been a handful of times now. This past week-end was my first time back in a year and they offered me a free five times to test out the facilities, which I'll likely not use because Ill be signing up for their current promotion, which is a great deal but expires on Mar. 31.

Staff. 1 - Cleanliness - For an older facility there is the wear and tear you would expect, older floors, and the outside looks very dated. I personally enjoy the flaws and the character. The showers are very clean, the locker rooms have floor mats, and you can tell the staff takes real pride in this place. 2 - Facilities - This place is not the biggest, however they do have everything you would need. A cardio room with enough machines there is barely ever a wait, a large weight room with free weights and machines to satisfy ever muscle you can think of. There is a 3 lane 16 meter pool (don't quote me on the length), the change area for the pool also clean. 2 Saunas and extra showers as well. There's a full basketball court that doubles for badminton (cool thing there is a CD player for the stereo to play jams while shooting hoops). 3 - Ambiance - For me this was very important. As a chubby dude most gyms are intimidating. Everything Is white, silver, with bright lights. The people are usually more competitive than friendly. This place is the exact opposite, warm wood staircases, nice older lighting, friendly people (while signing up 3 non staffers said hello). 4 - Staff - The staff is excellent, not just friendly and helpful, but you can tell they truly love what they do. John helped me with the sign up and was an absolute star, joke cracking, friendly, and down to earth. He was especially proud of the sign he had built and hung over the entry way, the sign reads "Here there are no strangers, only friends we haven't met yet" and he was very proud of it, and swore by it. It was great. Overall this place is great, it's not for people who want to work out with headphones on and spend the time looking at themselves in the mirror. This place is perfect for people who want to be proactive in a community and enjoy their surroundings while having fun.

This gym is owned by legendary bodybuilding photographer Jimmy Caruso, who has taken some of Arnold's best and most famous pictures. Arnold would actually train here when visiting Montréal and if you're familiar with the Pumping Iron movie, this place is very reminiscent of it (minus the beach babes). There's a separate cardio room but the machines seem like they could use an upgrade (I did see signs saying they're renovating soon so that'll be great).

Their basketball courts are large, and enough for multiple games at a time. They have a pool, but you have to wear a head cap, and the changing rooms are nice. They have a large selection of classes which are included in your membership. I particularly like their elliptical and some bike machines, as they have their own individual tv's. Speaking of the membership, if you are under 30, it runs about $35 per month, and if you are over 30, it runs about $50 per month. You have to sign a one year contract, but then it goes month to month. My joining fee was waived.

As soon as you enter you can see that alot of time and effort went into planning not just the layout and decor but also the quality and functionality of the equipment. It's all brand new.....a completely renovated space with roughly 20,000 sq/ft of facilities including a big and well equipped weight and cardio room as well as boxing, yoga, pilates, spin, crossfit, etc.....everything you need to get fit. Then go relax in the well decorated locker rooms for men and women with showers, steam, sauna, sitting room w/tv, or get a massage. On the way out, grab a smoothie or one of the prepared meals on offer to take home so you don't order Domino's or stop by McDonald's on the way home and then completely negate the intense workout you just had. There are trainers on staff at all times to ensure everyone is getting the proper workout and you always have the option of taking individual or group classes. All the gym equipment was carefully researched and chosen from an Italian company called Technogym. I've been working out there for 3 weeks now and my workouts are better then they've ever been. The machines are very well made and have better range of motion and support for areas like your back then other machines I've used. Also, in our high tech world, the cardio machines (elliptical, bikes, treadmills, etc.) allow you to access the Technogym app to track your workout and accomplishments but also integrate with your Netflix account so you can binge watch all your favorite shows while sweating like an animal. The location is great as well and there is alot of parking all around. It's right behind the Home Depot on St-Jacques, which is great because you can go get your lumber and soil right after your workout.......as one does :) Over he course of many years, I've worked out at the Sanctuaire, Victoria Park, Mansfield Club, and others. B52 got it right, a nice place to workout that has everything you need and most of what you want.......I say most because there is no pool, tennis or squash.
