It is more for fun. You won't find a lot of editorial/investigative journalism here -- mostly entertainment. The most recent thing I glanced through was an interview with Ladytron and another on the Terrible Twos. It's had a reputation for catering towards the partier, but I've noticed that they've been covering local indie bands more.

There is a sense of "raw-ness" to REALDetroit- which is what makes it real. In the Character Sketch column which features an mini bio on various people with (typically) some pretty unique jobs or hobbies. I've read about a spy technician and also a dominatrix. I must say both were very intriguing articles. As far as featuring indie bands, I think REALDetroit might be one of the music scenes biggest cheerleaders- ESPECIALLY the indie variety. Also, I feel REAL is very accessible. They want to know about what is going on in Detroit and possess an open ear to any story ideas you may have. seriously. get REAL.

I believed them for years about their hasslefree warranty and never thought I'd need to use it. When they say it's an easy warranty replacement they are lying. They do not trust their customers and treat us like criminals when we follow their instructions. I was told to show proof of purchase, and a video of the device malfunctioning which I did. It would just start burning concentrates without me, pushing a button and would sometimes burn the atomizer to near black. Imagine expensive solvent less concentrates sitting in your atomizer, only to start occasionally burning away slowly after turning it on... without pressing a button. I was sent an email today saying my device is totally fine and not defective despite the video I made. I have been ENRAGED all day. However, a Gertrude promised finally they would send me a replacement finally once they saw I'm a repeat customer. If I receive the same device back, I'll be recording a video opening the package with their return address showing how they failed to do a thorough 30-60 min check, which I explained to them that it's on and off. And it'll go on every social media network available. I then paid for a shipping box at fedex, following all their instructions. Gertrude is the only reason I gave two stars for offering to finally send a replacement. Somebody actually decided to finally listen to me.
