It is more for fun. You won't find a lot of editorial/investigative journalism here -- mostly entertainment. The most recent thing I glanced through was an interview with Ladytron and another on the Terrible Twos. It's had a reputation for catering towards the partier, but I've noticed that they've been covering local indie bands more.

There is a sense of "raw-ness" to REALDetroit- which is what makes it real. In the Character Sketch column which features an mini bio on various people with (typically) some pretty unique jobs or hobbies. I've read about a spy technician and also a dominatrix. I must say both were very intriguing articles. As far as featuring indie bands, I think REALDetroit might be one of the music scenes biggest cheerleaders- ESPECIALLY the indie variety. Also, I feel REAL is very accessible. They want to know about what is going on in Detroit and possess an open ear to any story ideas you may have. seriously. get REAL.

I never subscribed to this publication, not can this company produce a contract with my signature on it that says otherwise. Since I live in California and was a Fraud Investigator with the United States Attorneys Office for 28 years, this case is going to be easy to prove. Mail Fraud is a felony under title 18 of the United States Criminal Code. A very costly error to rip off someone for a few bucks.
