If I had known in advance, I would have taken another day and taken her somewhere else. It was horrible. She was still aware, trying to hold her head up, and cried in pain from the final iv push. Now I will have to go on hearing that in my head for the rest of my life. She was not suffering when we entered the building but that caused her suffering and she cried in extreme pain. Now I am suffering as well. I went in that day expecting her to be put to sleep peacefully and never to experience any pain or suffering. They should let us know in advance that they don't practice what everyone else does. I'm in complete anguish and despair over this. Not putting them to sleep first is not common practice and is inhumane.

They didn't pick up the first time but I received a call back in less than a hour, which really surprised me. While trying to find the facility for drop off I was a little lost as you can't see the place from the road only a white sign. The drive up the dirty road was a little surprising to me as they don't have many pictures. I knew I had no other options on sure short notice. Walking in, the smell was alarming and the cats roaming around didn't give me the best feeling. They employees where nice and pleasant during check in. I was told over the phone that boarding was $18/a day and his bath would be $15. During pick up I was told the price was $90 which I'm not sure how they came up with those numbers if I dropped off Friday and picked up Monday (2 full days, 2 half days - $18/day and 1 bath $15) either way I didn't question it as I planned on tipping for the service. I didn't like that he was still wet when I picked him up and in the car he slept the entire time which is so not normal for a Shiba. However, They seem to be family owned which is great and I always try to suppose local businesses! I would use them again if I need boarding.

My neighbor used Klondike's for her pitty mix and after a personal series of unfortunate events, I required boarding for my 2 dogs every weekend for several months. I have a Great Pyrenees and a Poodle mix and they have been absolutely spoiled by Desiree. My boys have loved coming to the kennel every single visit since. When we arrived to drop them off, the staff wasn't friendly or inviting, which should have been our tell-all. Walking back to the kennel, it was dark, cold, uninviting, and sad. The worst part was picking them up. We arrived early, which gave us the true picture of their time there. They were so frantic to get out of there, they weren't happy to see us, but instead blazed past us for the front door like they were trying to escape. We've never seen them act this way. Despite having "outdoor access" their beds and blankets smelled so badly of pet waste we had to discard them, and they were having to lay in that filth and stink because they seemed to have had nowhere else to go. They also had never been given their toys or treats. The staff was as cold and unfriendly as when we left them, we should have run for our lives and never ever left our babies there. Expensive and horrible.
