Met me same day as I called, set up my membership and showed me how everything worked. Tons of different grip bars, power racks, bands, machines, prowlers, foam rollers etc, plus you can play your own music on the stereo. U get a keycard that works 24/7 which was super convenient especially around the holidays when most places have limited hours.

Its a place where you can grunt when you lift and not feel like you're intimidating someone. The only thing you're going to hear is "good job" and here's a couple things to focus on to improve your form. It's really cool to see a place where women and men lifters working out in the same group to become their best self. Its all about getting better and with that many serious lifters in one place, you get a heck of a lot of "free" fitness direction from folks who compete and stay injury free. The gym is never crowded often you may have it to yourself. Monday/Wednesday evenings and Saturday/Sunday mornings are the busiest and then its only 5-10.

Here for work and if you've followed me at all you know I review gyms. This gym isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn close. Met the owner, bubba, and he was polite and super friendly. Talked about other gyms and then carried on. Now most anytimes have precor. Not the best equipment around but thank God it's not matrix. He has all hammer strength and life fitness. Which is amazing mostly because he has three life fitness arc trainers. If you haven't used them, they look intimidating but they are by far the best cardio machine around. All the benefits of elliptical and running without the stress on knees/hips. You need to do yourself favor and check them out. Upstairs, here. Gym is clean. Not spotless but it's a gym. Have to appreciate a little stuff here and there. Most everything is maintained well. There is some spirding webbing on some benches and the precor cable machine upstairs has a hitch in it. But honestly all I saw that wasn't amazing. Layout is also great. It's pretty obvious he has a few gyms because the flow is good. I'll be in Slidell again, soon, and will be coming back here. There are two rooms, the main cardio/large weight equipment room and another room with all the extra goodies like kettle bells, TRX bands, battle ropes, etc. What I love the most about this gym is that it is never crowded. I have never waited for a machine or a set of weights. I have actually been the only person in the gym numerous times. They also have classes which are held in the little room. They have a strength training type of class with the owner, Jay. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it has a cult following. They also have Spinning now, which I am a big fan of. They have two different teachers, and convienent times (morning or night). Both teachers are excellent. What it isn't: This is not your big box, crowded gym where there are 100's of people sweating all over each other. If you have experienced one of those, you know what that entails. Those big gyms have perks (child care, big class schedule, fancy locker rooms), but they come at a price (literally and figuratively!) Freedom Fitness is a welcoming place for people of all types of workout phases. You have grandma strolling on the treadmill in her khaki pants, to the big body builder types pushing 400 pounds on the chest press, and everyone in between. Unfortunately, we had to cancel his membership because the owner, Tory - a professional boxer - decided it would be ok to threaten to get in the ring with my son and "go a few rounds" with him. Not in an effort to teach or guide my son but simply because as my son was in a sparring match he didn't hear a command that Tory gave him. I am beyond disappointed.

I did not see the results I expected after a year of consistent training and eating well. I came across this gym and took the free class....wow! My theory is if I don't hate the trainer during the workout it's not a good workout! The owners are so friendly and welcoming. The members are supportive. It's a small gym so, if you don't care about bourgeois gyms where people spend more time taking selfies than on a serious workout than this is your place! I encourage everyone to try the free class.
