Starting with the service, It did take me a couple weeks to get a personal trainer but they did end up reaching back to me and now I work with a trainer. They have multiple there and although I have not met everyone, the ones I have are very nice. One drawback is it's kind of difficult to cancel the membership, you have to go in person and talk to someone about it. The quality of the machines are normal, it's definitely a cardio focused area but there are plenty of strength machines and a good amount of free weights. They also have nice locker rooms, showers, and restrooms! The atmosphere is more calm and mind your business on the slower hours but during busier hours less calm. It does seem to be busy most of the time but you can still find a machine. During rush hour it does get pretty difficult to find machines. Overall I would recommend if you need a gym!

Do these people have some kind of con going on to keep Planet Fitness out of Bellingham? I personally do not have any use for steam nor indoor handball.

The instructor goes over every move after a brief warm up so you know what's coming. Then you begin a well thought out, planned workout! The equipment is laid out before you even arrive so everything is organized. It is mostly HIIT oriented so it entails lighter weights, body weight, sprints, battle ropes, abs, etc. Also, everyone is so friendly! This did surprise me somewhat because it is not always that way in group fitness. But everyone was kind and understanding when I made a few mistakes in the order of our circuit. You can tell everyone is on the same team. I've been in quite a few gyms over my life and this honestly is one of the cleanest I've ever seen. The best part is you can drop in for a fee or buy class packages in 6 week sets, 2, 3 or 4 classes per week to get a discount. They also sometimes have free trial weeks. Give this place a try if you are looking for a guided, fast paced, sweaty workout!

Terrain is by far the best "gym" I have ever joined. I emphasize gym because it's more than just a…read moreplace to stay and get fit. It's a community and an experience. Tonia and her trainers actually get to know you to make personalized suggestions within the currated workout sessions. As mentioned there is a sense that you are getting a one-on-one training session but within a non-judgmental group settings to help feed off other's energy. I love this YMCA. I'm a brand new member, so take this review with a grain of salt, but…read more.. There seems to be a great sense of community here. They have a fairly large climbing wall with a variety of difficulty levels. Pickle ball league seems very active and interesting. The pool is kinda small, but there's always a swim lane available to me when I go. The spin/cycling room is ridiculously small but it seems to work. I have yet to try other classes but there's such an awesome variety: yoga, tai chi, boot camp, Step aerobics, etc. But I don't see enough people taking advantage of their access to all the experts who work here. For example, they have a free orientation session for all new members to familiarize patrons with the exercise equipment. A wonderful lady named Mary gives the tutorials for the weight machines and can answer any other questions you might have. And she's amazing and so knowledgeable and patient and kind--and just a wonderful teacher. Other than that, the only drawbacks are the small parking lot, and it can be kinda smelly. It's an old building but they're doing some construction right now, so it might be nicer in a couple months. If you can't climb/descend stairs, then forget it. This place is not for you... But it's an all around great gym with tons to offer. And great people working here.

I would yap with them while I was resting between sets but would try and keep it short to be able to finish using the machine. Someone comes up to me and says something along the lines of are you using this machine while i was getting up to switch with my friend. I said yes I have one more set and my friend is just starting. They tell us to stop talking so much and hurry up, we say sorry and let him use the machine to avoid any trouble. They walks away and another person goes up to them and says I glad you said something they are taking too long. On another occasion, someone was rushing us off machines by standing and watching us workout. It was very awkward and I will not be going back!
