We won a stay at this hotel on an auction for Give Kids the World Village. It is a beautiful hotel which is across the street from Wrigley Field. Our room was on the 6th floor so we had great views from our room. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was beautiful. No ice machine but they have whole bags of ice you can take on each floor.

If you asked me if I wanted to stay in an upscale boutique hotel that faced Wrigley Field during baseball season, I would've given you such a case of small-mouth. However, Jamie W. went ahead and booked us a Queen room here for three nights for $440 per night (without tax), and frankly it turned out just fine. Although the hotel was full of zealous Cubs fans, we managed to avoid them for at least two nights. We had a lead-footed marcher above us the first night. The front desk was quite responsive and moved us to another room for the rest of our stay. No further marching heard. The rooms were quiet otherwise as well as spacious. The bed felt pretty comfortable, and the bathroom was well maintained. The only drawback was that there wasn't a mini-fridge, so there was no place to store our leftovers from all the great Chicago food we were going to eat. All the social activity appeared to be happening on the second floor where a full den of Cub fans dominated the expansive lounge. We slipped by and either walked over to boisterous Boystown (about 15 minutes) or took the local bus up to more gentrified Andersonville (20 minutes on a good night). Why, we even went to a Cubs game since it took us thirty seconds to get to the entrance gate. Psss, I just may be a closet Cubbie yet. RELATED - Exploring Chicago? I generally look for hotels with excellent shower pressure, lots of hot water, and plenty of amenities around the area...This place has it all! We came by for a stay of a couple of nights, we seemed to be the only couple who wasn't there for the Cubs game. Obviously with a location directly across the street from Wrigley Field, most visitors seem to be there for the game. We did do a tour of the stadium which was nice, but skipped out on the full nine inning experience. The hotel itself has plenty of friendly staff, most of the amenities you could need, and a lot of action all around the area with lots of restaurants and activities, along with easy access to the train station. It's a modern hotel in the Marriott Bonvoy family, and while I wouldn't call the rooms overly spacious, they were roomy enough for a couple. There are a few items of note, 1. If you want a mini fridge in the room, you'll have to either upgrade to a suite or request one in advance. 2. Also, the parking is quite expensive - we used valet parking at $80 per night. 3. If you want to pull up directly in front of the hotel, the standard Google map directions don't take you there, Google takes you straight to the garage entrance which is around the back of the hotel. 4. There's a fire station and a police station nearby, so there was some siren activity at night, which could be heard in the rooms. It didn't bother us too much. As a business traveler, I'd likely be staying in a downtown hotel if doing business downtown - this location is really ideal for Wrigleyville and the northern areas. Overall however, this was a five-star experience, and I'd certainly look to stay there again if I was ever visiting the stadium area.

If you're a Cubs fan you have to make it a point to stay here at least once. The proximity to Wrigley Field, being able to overlook Gallagher Way, and be right in the heart of everything on game days is an incredible experience. Hotel Zachary put so much thought into the details from the art, soap, table books in the room and even a welcome gift of none other than Garrett's popcorn. The stay is by no means a cheap expense, but the experience was well worth it. There are only two things that would have made it better. The first is access to a fridge in the room, rather than just the ice bucket. We stopped by a craft fair and got a free canned coffee beverage that would've done better in a fridge. The second piece would be allowing/encouraging breakfast on the patio. We were fortunate to be there on a beautiful day, but were informed there was no service outside so the only option would've been staying inside missing out on the up front view of Wrigley.

Every detail of this hotel is meant to be enjoyed. The small details are not taken for granted. Plus, there is no better view to wake up to than Wrigley field! Although it's pretty great to also go to sleep looking at the lights of Wrigley. I loved being able to sit outside and take in the sights and sounds of Gallagher way! The soap brand was even called Ivy and I loved the smell. The ice was in small individual bags which was amazing because typical hotel life machines are disgusting (if you didn't know now you know). The only thing that wasn't as top notch as I would have liked were the pillows. I will admit I could have just asked for extra and didn't.

Wow. The Hotel Zachery was incredible. The service, the food, the vibe, the location...everything was FANTASTIC. Having an incredible time just simply wasn't an option...and I didn't even go to see the Cubs!

The location is amazing. Cubs games, concerts, etc....it cant be beat. The rooms are clean, spacious and very well appointed. Its got alot of great history about the area, and the names associated with Wrigley. The lobby is awesome, great bar, lounge, and outdoor patio. My only wish...that the outdoor patio was bigger..and alot bigger..its just too small. The bar is great, and amazing staff overall. The restaraunt has a nice menu but its meh...so thats the only downside but there are so many great places to eat in the area its hard to standout. GO CUBS

The outdoor seating overlooking Wrigley Field is great!!! The service from Heath was great and the manager's attention, Jack Hiss, is incredible. The food and the cocktails are top notch!

We ended up booking the Hotel Zachary after a bit of a hotels.com fiasco with a different hotel. I'm so glad we did because this hotel was really nice! It's right across from Wrigley Field and has a bespoke feel. The lobby is on the second level where there's a bar and plenty of space to work or relax. When we checked in, they let us know that they upgraded us to the stadium view, which was fun! Definitely not something I'd pay for normally, but a nice surprise. Since we were there in the off season (aka not baseball season), it was quiet and not at all crowded. We only stayed one night, but the beds were super comfortable and the double queen room was really large. There was no fridge in the room, also no coffee maker but you could take your key down to the bakery/coffee shop for a free cup of coffee in the morning. We didn't do this but it's a nice touch for guests, although I'm sure many people would prefer an in-room coffee maker. We were going to a concert at the Metro, so it was nice to be in walking distance. There are lots of restaurants and bars in this immediate area that we had fun checking out. We reserved a parking spot on SpotHero nearby for way less than the price of valet parking (valet at the hotel is $75 per night). The hotel is a Marriott and is pet-friendly.

In house cured salmon breakfast

Great hotel. We had a wonderful time for the last weekend of the Cubs regular season. The rooms were small but that's expected in a downtown hotel. The restaurant was really good for breakfast and late night drinks. In house coffee bar was equally good. Nobu is walking distance if you want.

So to my surprise, the first night I tried to to go up at 10:15, I couldn't because they cut elevator access off at 10pm. 2nd night, I couldn't get into the other area because of a private event. The final night at 9pm, I tried again and was told told they dont open to the public until 9:30p or 10p. WHAT?! According to the website its open on Saturdays 11am to 2am. No break. My first night when I couldn't get up to the roof, I tried the restaurant downstairs. Also closes at 11pm. 10:20, hostess says they just called last call. I said cool I can order a drink. She said no they just called last call. I went back and forth with her and gave up and checked with the desk and they said they close at 10:30p. Then someone else said they close at 11:00pm but will call last call at 10:30 to help with the kitchen. and then confirmed, well they closed a little early that night. Normally, that would meet my expectations for a four-star rating. What pushes it to a five, however, was the woman working the front desk, and more broadly, the genuine, go-out-of-their-way warmth of every staff member we encountered, from the security guard downstairs to the ladies managing the continental breakfast. We arrived in the morning, hours before check-in time, planning to drop off our bags so we could explore the city. Instead, the front desk agent offered a great solution: 'What if I check you in early for $25 so you can take your bags right up to your room?' I wouldn't have even thought to ask, and it made our morning seamless. Later, I watched her handle a long line at breakfast with multiple guest requests; she was completely unflappable, warm, and adept at putting people at ease. This may well be my new go-to hotel in Chicago.

Hampton Inn majestic will let you relive the Chicago fire!!!…read more Was not a fan of their elevators since they kept jumping from levels 6 and 7 and would randomly stop without being called. The last Hampton inn I got stuck in the elavator and had an off experience with getting help, so I chose to use the stairs. Upon using the stairs we were met with SEVERAL linen boxes blocking our only exit. They were all in different directions and could not be easily rolled out, especially when we were blocked behind them. Instead we had to parkour over it to escape. There was a valet driver sitting at the front and ignored us after I asked for help and continued to say she's just valet she can't do anything. These bins were there for well over an acceptable time, blocking the only stairs and fire safety exit but also for people that didn't enjoy their sketchy elevators. And again, pallets were there days later also blocking the ONLY emergency exit and stairwell exit. Completely unacceptable in a normal city let alone one with history of building fires. Exits should not be blocked and it's clear the building uses this space for "storage" often. Before the fire situation even happened, their breakfast situation was insane. Our first morning was on a Monday. Their service is until 10 am and around 9am we headed down for some fuel. By that time, the dining room was packed, the tiny buffet room was empty of food but packed with people who were waiting for tables, chairs and all of the food to be restocked. One woman was trying to run the whole operation while two men just stood behind the concierge desk and watched the shit show of breakfast service happen in front of them. Someone should have helped her get breakfast together. Even if it wasn't their job, in hospitality, their job as hotel manger or anyone who works in the hotel is to make sure the guest have a pleasant stay, not to look pretty sitting in front of the Hampton inn welcome to Chicago sign. Overall unorganized and not something nice to look at when you first walk into a hotel lobby, chaos. You would think the grievances would stop there. However we were then denied the benefits that we get as gold Hilton members. Previously at hiltons and Hilton branches we have been offered two bottles of water per room per day. Most of the time they would be offered upon check in (which they did not) and given daily throughout our stay. This time the concierge allowed my mom just to go grab them out of the fridge. The next day we did the same and the concierge Robyn gave me immediate backlash even after I said we were previously allowed to take them. She repeatedly said I was wrong and gave no hospitality to hear my side of the story. I didn't want to cause a scene and returned my water. She then slammed them onto our table as I was eating breakfast with my family. Definitely could have been better ways for her to deal with the problem and I did not appreciate the hostility coming from the concierge at 9 am. We were already all crammed at a small table because there are no seating arrangements easily accessible for families or even enough seats in the dining room. One star because housekeeping did great and my room was clean and refreshed when necessary (and because zero is not an option) Otherwise I would hope I never have to stay here again.

The staff were somewhat friendly until different things started to come up... 1st issue: Friday night the elevators completely stopped working. Big problem due to having a small infant and needing to get the stroller down. We were staying on the 10th floor. But an even bigger problem was that we started to notice floods of people come on our floor and notify us that there was not an exit even via the stairs!!!! My husband got on the phone with the front desk and the reply was "you are just going to have to wait for the elevator." This was completely unacceptable and UNSAFE- what if there was a fire? What if something dangerous was happening and we couldn't get out of the building? This itself would have landed this hotel at a 1-2 rating. The elevator issue didn't fill resolve itself for our whole stay- only 2/3 were in service and they took 5-10 minutes to show up each time. Seriously inconvenient. 2nd issue: they put one of our rooms (we had 3 groups) literally next to the pool. Kids were screaming their heads off beginning at 6:30am and it would carry on until 10pm. When SIL called down to the front desk she was told "sorry that's just how it is and it should quiet down soon." Again, completely unacceptable. We had young children and infants who needed to nap and go to bed early. 3rd issue: we asked for a late check out since our flight was later and we needed to get our baby to take a nap- after all of these issues they said they would extend it to 1:00, which was nice. We did then ask if it could be extended another hour and we were told it would cost $25. Fine... what was not fine was when there was banging on our door and someone walked in at 1:25pm to clean the room. It woke up our baby and completely defeated the purpose of us extending our late check out and paying the extra $25. 4th issue: apparently they don't clean the rooms unless you are staying for 3 or more nights? We didn't know about this and assumed we would get new towels since there is a sign in the bathroom saying "hang towels to reuse" or "if you would like new ones, place them on the floor". We needed new towels so we followed what it said and then were told our rooms wouldn't be cleaned or even checked to see if we needed new towels. Good things I will say: - very convenient area - provided a pack n play - Starbucks in the hotel - hotel room was clean Would have love for this stay to have been better since the Marriott is well known and usually a great place to stay.... but the lack of customer service makes it hard to want to book another room at a Marriott hotel.

I haven't been to the Windy City in years, and wanted to have a great experience. Unfortunately, this hotel didn't live up to its reputation in any way. This hotel is sleek and modern, but doesn't give an impression of luxury. It's minimalist, and I found the service to be minimalist as well. The front desk was polite, as were the bell/door staff, but I did not feel overly welcomed. My friend was staying with me, and when we entered our room, the first thing we did was check out the quality of the beds. I saw another review for this hotel, and the reviewer stated that the mattresses felt "hard and cheap". My friend and I, unfortunately, heartily agree with this assessment. In addition, the pillows were far too soft. We were both expecting an exceptional weekend full of rest- instead we were uncomfortable, and tossed and turned. We both agreed we should have stayed at The Westin, as they're known for their comfortable beds. The room could have also used a deep cleaning. There were splatter stains on the curtains, and a smear of something on the chair. The bathroom had mildew in the shower grout, and an old rubber band that was overlooked. The overall room decor was unremarkable. The doors are very heavy to the rooms, and there is a lot of slamming. This is worth mentioning, if you like sleeping in. Additionally, I had a negative experience with a member of the concierge team. I approached this unfriendly individual, and asked for help booking something specific, and they advised me to "call them or book online". So what is the purpose of employing a concierge when they offer zero value? I am not cheap by any means, but when I am spending this type of money for a hotel stay, I expect an exceptional experience. I would never expect to have a mediocre experience at a 5 star hotel, but that is exactly what I received. I wouldn't stay here again, and I wouldn't recommend it to others.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it started with the lobby and bar. It was always overcrowded and noisy, and just didn't feel very intimate or elegant. That followed with the fact there's only one restaurant in the hotel and both times we visited it was nearly empty. It's tucked on the second floor back in the corner, and just feels like a standard obligatory hotel restaurant. The food was good but the ambience was just odd. The room was well-appointed, including a comfortable bed and soft sheets. And the bathroom had everything we needed. But the service day-to-day required follow up. They forgot to restock coffee, water and cups a few times, and when I called the front desk they delivered in a trash bag. There is a daily service charge that I believe is $50 a night and provides Wi-Fi, access to gym, and a free class. We went to use the gym to access the sauna and steam room, but learned that's part of the spa not gym so had to pay a separate per person charge. The spa was refreshing but fairly standard. Not like the Seoul Marriott with multiple heated baths and a cold plunge. Call me spoiled. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is very nice but for $700 a night and knowing what I know about most JW's this just seems slightly below their standard.
