The location is located on a convenient, relatively main thoroughfare, but it's a hike from central Munich - we walked back after a dinner at the Hofbräuhaus, and it took about 75-90 minutes. Add to this that the hot water isn't consistent (I spent half of my time in the shower adjusting the temperature as it kept shifting) and you get a pretty poor overall experience. The breakfast was also incredibly basic (at least the one they served our tour group) -- basically just low quality meat and bread. On the plus side, the place seemed reasonably clean.

This a mixed review for the Econtel Hotel München (Munich). The positives and negatives are as…read morefollows: Negatives: 1. No air conditioning in the room. This is a big deal in the summer as the room got very warm. 2. No screens on the windows so I couldn't open them even though the room was very warm since it lacked air conditioning. Without screens, mosquitos and other insects could fly into the room 3. Coffee machine in the lobby is not for use until 11 am and only till 1 am. I don't know if this is because they want guests to pay for their breakfast, which I understand at only 9 Euros is a good deal for the spread they have. I'm not much of a breakfast person but do like a cup of coffee to get my day started. 4. The interior was a little dated and could use some updating. 5. Not a great location for tourism since that type of thing is further away. The many positives: 1. Great deals, even for a family of 4. Granted the room wasn't large (sorry I forgot to take pics) but it had two double beds for the wife and I and our two teenage daughters. 2. The S Bahn or street car is a close walk. 3. Safe and bright underground parking which was only 2 Euros a day. 4. Fancy coffee maker in the lobby available from 11 am till 1 am. 5. Friendly helpful desk clerk although just the one employee. 6. They had a couple of large umbrellas to use for free. 7. Room was clean. 8. Large enough lobby if you want to be out of your room for some extra space. 9. Free wifi. I would stay here again but not during the warm summer due to the lack of in-room air conditioning. It's not a fancy place but than you're not paying for a fancy place or the fancy place rate.
