I wanted to leave my feedback from our hotel stay at the Hotel Weber 117 ( Weds., Oct. 4,2023-Sat., Oct.7, 2023) because the last Yelp review given for this Amsterdam hotel was over 5 yrs ago.
(No need to thank me, just doing my Yelp-duty ;)
My hubby & I were visiting Amsterdam for the first time, in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary & Amsterdam was the 4th and final destination in our 4 country international trip (London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam) before heading back home to Austin, Texas - USA.
Here are a few tidbits that I wanted to pass along from our stay -
- - - hotel address / front office address:
I made our reservation through booking.com and the address given to me was the address to the hotel room building but that address isn't the same address as the front desk office that we needed to check in at, once we arrived.
We actually had to go across the street from the address given. There is an intercom box on the building & upon arrival, we were then directed to the building across the street.
Upon check out, you can check out online using your phone but you still will need to drop off your room keys at the reception area.
Just wanted to share this info since we did think we were at the wrong address at 1st.
- - - room size for the Extra Small Double Room:
Hotels in Amsterdam can be very pricey. Our hotel room in Amsterdam was the most expensive of all our hotel stays (more expensive than London, Paris, and Rome) and also the smallest hotel of them all.
I booked the Extra Small Double Room because it was the lowest price room option at the Weber Hotel that fit into our travel budget.
I figured that we would be out sightseeing the majority of our time in Amsterdam so it really didn't matter how small the room was.
Well folks, I was wrong.
Once I was there in person, I was regretting that I just didn't say "screw the budget" and book the larger room!
If you decide to book the extra small double room, just know that it really does mean EXTRA SMALL!
The room was very clean and modern BUT at times felt very claustrophobic because of how small it was.
My hubby literally could lay on the double bed and stretch his arms out and be able to touch wall to wall.
The lack of space made it hard for us to both move around at the same time.
I wanted to give this info because this room size might not be very comfortable for a bigger/taller person(s) .. I'm only 5'1 & my hubby is 5'8 and thankfully, our stay was a short stay at 3 nights.
- - - amenities:
Room had AC that worked great, the shower did have great water pressure but the shower enclosure was a small one. There was a mounted tv that we could watch Netflix on or any of your other favorite steaming channels.
- - - location:
Hotel Weber is located in a very charming & quiet area, right on the water canals.
There are colorful Amsterdam-style buildings located on the same street that make for a beautiful Amsterdam photo backdrop (see pics & videos included in this review) .
Hotel Weber is very walkable to many of the popular sights (Museum Square, Red Light District, Anne Frank House, Dam Square)
There are also several bars/restaurants located on the same street where you can sit outside and "bike watch"....seeing the constant traffic of bikes going in both directions is so cool to watch & very unique to Amsterdam.
To sum it up, I would stay at the Weber Hotel aka Hotel Weber 117 again but only if my travel budget allowed for a bigger room.
Hope this info helps!
