He was friendly and communicative. He provided us with tips, suggestions, and went out of his way to make sure we were happy. Room was beautiful. Lots of light, good bedding, and awesome bathroom. Despite many hangovers, we were *gently* woken up by the friendly staff to ensure that we enjoyed our European breakfast every morning. Nice location, walking distance to everything. I took the train station and walked there. It saved me 12-15 EURO. The owners like to have your flight arrival information and check it for any delays etc. They are waiting for you, ready for your arrival. We stayed in the yellow suite which was the entire 2nd floor. Stairs are typically steep but easy to navigate if you don't have any handicaps. The living room was large with a large couch and multiples chairs and a lovely view below of the cobblestone street. The bedroom holds a comfortable bed with a few dressers - there is no view but after my first night there realized this was perfect. Quite quiet, away from the street noise, it was the perfect environment for sleeping. The breakfast was tasty and ready every morning at 9 am. The freshest cut fruit, fresh breads and croissants (which permeate the house :) starting around 8 or 8:30 am). Great coffee and tea. Ed and Ian are an enjoyment to speak with during the meal. Many excellent restaurants are just a few steps away - and you can be at Central Station within 10 minutes walking. Would highly recommend Maes B & B and would be thrilled to stay there again.

We've had the privilege of staying at some wonderful hotels over the past few years, but the Breitner house holds themselves to a standard that is a cut above even the most prestigious places we've been. Our hosts were warm and welcoming, informative, and made it clear they were there to help us in any way. The rooms and decor are stunning - a beautiful oasis in an already beautiful city. Our room was comfortable and our hosts went above and beyond to provide the little touches that are hard to find in most accommodations. The food in the morning was in a word, divine. I have never woken up to such a feast, and indeed, we remarked many times about how much we felt like royalty while enjoying our breakfast. On the day we flew out of Amsterdam, our hosts still managed to provide a scrumptious breakfast before an early pick-up (which they gladly helped us arrange) to the airport. We will always be grateful for the visit we had here and have recommended Breitner to many friends and family traveling through Amsterdam. We most certainly will stay here again if we can arrange a return trip. Until then, we will remember it as a rare, once in a lifetime experience! I would encourage anyone to splurge on a stay at the Breitner house - it is less of a bed and breakfast and more an experience in exceptionally rare high-level hospitality.

Camilla was so warm, friendly and entirely selfless throughout our stay, always armed with directions, a thoughtful recommendation or simply a kind word. Accommodations left us speechless in both their originality and cleanliness. When we eventually plan our return to Amsterdam, if we cannot stay at The Breitner House we may reconsider/reschedule the trip, it was that fantastic. Loes and Wing, the owners of the houseboat, were incredibly generous and accommodating hosts. This is especially true given my circumstances. To give some context, I am being reimbursed for my trip to Amsterdam, but in order to get reimbursed, I needed a signed contract and receipt as proof for my stay. Loes and Wing personally wrote, signed, and printed these for me -- much of it while they were on vacation! If that didn't already cause enough trouble for them, my friend and I arrived into Amsterdam around midnight, yet Loes and Wing graciously stayed up and waited for us to arrive -- greeting us only with smiles and a bottle of wine. Each day for breakfast, Loes and Wing went out to buy fresh bread for our breakfast, served when we wanted it, along with a generous assortment of juice, eggs, meats, cheese, yogurt, granola, and more. When it rained in Amsterdam the first day my friend and I were there, we were even provided with umbrellas to use. I was actually shocked that for the weekend we stayed in this houseboat, it wasn't sold out like nearly all the other boats in Amsterdam. One would think that the 5-star treatment we received as guests (along with a great rate per night) would cause this bed, boat, and breakfast to be permanently booked. Of course, the unforgetable coffee karafe. All this within skipping distance of our daughter also on Levantkade and the trams/buses terminal. We were most appreciative of their kind concern for our wellbeing from umbrellas to boarding passes to directions. The place was, at the beginning, hard to find because some streets have the same name and there are no signs of the B&B. Every morning all the people hosted there get together to have a greaaat breakfast. That was a very nice moment because we all shared a moment of the day and would get new ideas of places to explore. Near the B&B you can find lots of places to eat, bars and also canals. It´s definitely worthy to stay in this place and I can´t wait to get back there, as I promised. The only recommendation would be to be cautious on your luggage because- as most of the Amsterdam´s places- it´s tiny and high and so the stairs. So if you do like me and take a huge luggage it will be hard to accomodate. I stood in a private bedroom, very confy, clean and white. I had my own tea maker, lots of teas to choose, and water. My bedroom was next to the bathroom, so it was perfect and very private. I loved this place, in case you wouldn´t realize.

The attention to detail, hospitality and comfort is absolutely amazing. Businesses should take note, as Oki and Frank have mastered the art of hospitality. What makes LQS the best is that it just IS. You will understand it as soon as you walk through their door. Their restaurant recommendations are top-notch. We stayed in our room more than we expected. It was just very relaxing and comfortable. We would take walks and see the sights, come back for some hot tea and a little rest in the room during the afternoon. We then venture our for dinner (there are various restaurants close by). It was just great to lay back and enjoy the serene, beautiful and cozy environment that Oki and Frank have established. Their B&B utilizes eco-consious and sustainable materials. You can read all these reviews of what Oki and Frank has done. I have one more thing to add under the "attention to detail". They even provided a "tea steeping" 3 minute hourglass timer. REALLY. They are that great. A Heartfelt thank you. Terima kasih, Oki and Frank for making our anniversary an absolute special one. They only have two rooms.. so book as soon as you can!

We stayed two nights. Walking from and to Centraal Train Station. Pretty easy to find - even later at night. The host was accommodating and gave us great suggestions of places to go and things to see. He was very nice and our first trusted friend arriving in Amsterdam. He brought us breakfast which included: soft boiled eggs, fresh fruit, deli meat, cheese, yogurt, and fresh croissants/biscuits/bread slices with jam and butter. The room was very nice - decorated well with no odd smells or stains. Kitchenette was perfect. Tea kettle and coffee maker with free single serve drip coffee pods. Enough dishes for coffee and breakfast. Bathroom was very clean. Included hair dryer and shampoo. If we return to Amsterdam, we would definitely come back. He only takes cash, so have enough for your stay!

The room has a king-sized bed, black out curtains, plenty of storage in a big dresser, and an attached private bathroom with a heated floor & spacious a shower. The Posthoorn offers a hairdryer, shampoo & body wash in the room which was nice not to have to bring those things with us. The bath towels were smaller than what we're used to (couldn't get them around my body), and there were no washcloths so I was glad I brought one from home. The room is at the back of the house with an enclosed patio so there isn't a view but there is plenty of light & privacy which was exactly what we wanted. The bed was memory foam, I think, and so comfortable that we slept for 15 hours after our arrival in Amsterdam from the States. The house is situated in a quiet residential area right on a canal in a great area to get to shops, restaurants (do not miss the savory pancakes at the Pancake Bakery), The Anne Frank House, canal tours and lots more. For us it felt like being part of the city because it's not terribly tourist-y which is great. François was a lovely host, very knowledgeable and accommodating. Before our arrival he gave us great advice on navigating from the airport to the Posthoorn. He offered suggestions for restaurants and we enjoyed each one we went to (Long Pura was particularly memorable). He kept our fridge stocked with drinks and our room was made up spotlessly each day with fresh towels. Since the three guestrooms are on the first floor of a residence in a tight urban setting, it's not terribly surprising that we heard violin practice and a heated discussion between father & child presumably from a nearby home. We highly recommend the Posthoorn!
