Much to my chagrin the photo was old since the picturesque Swissy looking place in the alps was surrounded by loads of hotels. So much for that, but overall the staff was super nice and the place was clean. Dated but clean. We were delivered a small fruit selection to our rooms, there were bathrobes, and I had a picturesque view from my window. Additionally the location was within walking distance from the thermal spa and the center of town so it was convenient. Breakfast was typical European continental breakfast...eggs, meat, cheese, bread, muesli, jams, juice, coffee, etc.

The waiter seemed nice but he proceeded to tell us how the town is not as popular anymore and how it was the fault of Americans with some other political blah blah. Weird.

The rooms are a fine and the general look and feel is a bit stuck in the 70s when the decoration was probably done last. We were told our luggage would be picked up by 2pm and so when we got back up from the gondola at 2:30 and saw our luggage still waiting we had no choice but to wait for the car or walk to the hotel. We chose to walk so we can settle in earlier and get ready for our plans. We were told we can get on the 4pm ride back up to the gondala, which then we were told actually leaves at 3:30. Because our luggage arrived late, we could not be ready in time for the 3:30 car. Another occurrence- we were told everyday we could take a 3:30car to the gondala so at 3:15 when I told them we would need a ride, they told us they were full and not drive us up. It's an uphill 15 minute hike by foot, and my partner has cancer and can't frequent that trip. The lack of accommodation and adherence to the expectations the staff set really was upsetting. On top of that, the pool is much too cold to swim on a chill day and our mattress has blood stains on it. I was told my meals could be accommodated as a vegan and for breakfast all I was offered is bread and fruit cup. Beautiful hotel but not worth the price.

Didn't mention any price, so I thought she was being nice and adding it for us. We all had breakfast the morning after, and when we went to do the check in, they charged us 90 francs for our breakfast (that's over $90 American dollars !!!) . Stay at the palace, or the Alpena. There are not any actual key cards, the keys are actual keys on very large wood blocks.
