Just awful. It's…read morecurrently after 10pm, I'm laying in my bed at the Hotel Rieker Novum in Stuttgart. It's 30 degrees outside, and wayyyyy hotter inside. Specified we're on our honeymoon; they gave us 2 twin beds, that are built into rhe wall, so we cant even push them together. No air conditioning, when we asked for a fan they brought us a tiny, dirty, desk fan. Crappy old dirty pink carpets. Slow ancient elevator. Never again.

I've stayed in the Stuttgart area on business several times…read more There was a big convention going on this time, and almost every room in the city was booked. The Rieker is located right across from the main train station (Hauptbahnhof), next to the fancy Zeppelin hotel. This makes it very convenient for train and S-bahn travel. It features a very small room with old faded carpeting. Small even by European standards. Tiny bathroom, you need to shut the door to use the toilet. No shampoo, conditioner, no bar of soap for the sink (use the shower gel for everything). Lights are dim, the bed is uncomfortably hard, and the comforter is not long enough. I had to wrap my coat around my feet. Wifi is free, but slow for emails and web pages (I didn't try to watch a video). You need to re-login every hour or so. The maid did a good job of keeping the room neat and clean. The front desk will loan you an umbrella and a outlet adapter, for 10 Euro deposit. I always look forward to German hotel breakfasts. At the Rieker, the selection is small, but it is still good, and only $5. The fruit, however, was old. One of the apples in the basket was already wrinkled. It takes a long time to wrinkle an apple, to not notice it takes some dedication. The other apples felt old. Now I understand why the Rieker still had rooms, while all other hotels were booked solid. Avoid if you have the option.
