Nice hotel with smaller but clean rooms. Staff is friendly and it helps a lot to have free wifi and free parking at the hotel. My room did not have A/c but it might be a cheaper one as I have booked it from budgetplaces.com read more

I read some reviews that described this hotel as having a conference aesthetic and it's certainly not a boutique design, but it really is a very beautiful and clean hotel, right across from the Guggenheim with outstanding service and a great bathroom. I had been traveling for awhile and started to feel a bit ill when I arrived, so I appreciated the black out curtains, incredible water pressure from the shower, and very comfortable bed so I could get a good nap in right when I arrived. Service was outstanding. The hotel arranged for a taxi to take me to Azurmendi, since it's a bit outside the city, and was so helpful anytime I needed something. I always appreciate turn down service and especially appreciated the pillow spray they left which was really lightly floral, not overpowering at all and really helped me sleep. The towel warmer was awesome and made me feel so cozy every time I got out of the shower. All around, this is a great hotel that I'd absolutely stay in again, perfect as a home base if you're in Bilbao, with an unbeatable location if you want to fit in the Guggenheim (literally right across the street!) Incredible service team and very clean, comfortable, and quiet rooms.

It came with a great view of the Gehry museum which is why I came to Bilbao in the first place. The location of the hotel is in the heart of the city. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Bilbao.

Our room on the fifth floor (512) was delightfully large with a nice balcony overlooking the square. In April the 187€ was a steal for this quality and especially given the inclusion of breakfast (23€/pp value AND two free passes to Guggenheim museum-20€ value). Like most historical properties it would be a nice upgrade to have better access to power outlets, but other than that I thought the marble bathroom was a good size and we had more than enough room in which to spread out. The hotel itself is beautiful with rich red carpets on a sweeping grand staircase and an amazing stained glass domed courtyard just off the lobby. The Belle Époque stained glass and other touches add a refined elegance to your stay. The breakfast buffet was included in our room rate and was absolutely outstanding with so many classic basque foods plus anything else you could possibly want from fresh fruit and juice, many pastries and breads and omelette s cooked to order. An amazing feast and not to be missed. Highly recommended

We were a little early but luckily a nice, quiet room was ready for us with two quite comfortable queen beds - which both me and my daughter very much appreciated after not sleeping well in a noisy hotel in Madrid. Bianca gave us a local map with a couple recommendations for lunch so we went off for the day. When I was booking hotels for our trip, I looked at the inclusion of a locally influenced breakfast buffet as part of the package. The breakfast buffet at this hotel was one of the best we had on our trip. From charcuterie and cheeses to local bread with traditional Spanish tomato/olive oil toppings to very fresh fruit to eggs to pastries to make-your-own smoothies to "pinxtos" (Basque tapas), this place had it all! So impressive and delicious! They had a couple espresso machines and a pitcher of hot milk to cap it off perfectly! Bianca was there for the whole duration of our trip and patiently and cheerfully helped us with many questions. She took our bags for the day when we checked out and bid us farewell when came back to collect them. She kindly gave us a couple water bottles when we left - so very thoughtful. I hope to get back to beautiful Bilbao someday - and would not hesitate to stay here again if I do! It was a perfect stay!

From the garage it is very easy to take the elevator to your hotel floor. We were upgraded to a junior suite bc of our AmEx Platinum status (we also had $100 hotel credit). The gym is on the top floor, there were actually 3 ppl working out when we took a peek. The lobby has fruit water and complimentary pastries during the day. The building is old, elevator is teeny tiny. There is a nightclub next door, its festivities can be heard from our hotel room (it is 4:29 am and I can hear ppl and bass outside our window). Nice, clean hotel.

I highly recommend this place, especially if you have status with Marriott. I feel like the older reviews on Yelp do not really reflect the current conditions of this hotel. I think maybe they had renewed the room in the past few years. The rooms we had were pretty modern, comfortable, and clean. I would not call them dated at all. They also offer free breakfast if you have status with Marriott. The spread of food they have in the breakfast buffet is very impressive, from Iberian ham, custom made omelettes, artisan bread, to desserts and churos. We filled our stomach every morning and hardly ate any lunch during our trip. The staffs are great too, especially the breakfast crew in the morning. They are friendly, tentative, and helpful. You can see they work very hard to keep the place going. They even offer to go boxes for you to take some food with you from the buffet if you haven't had enough in the dining room. This the first place I've seen doing this in any hotel. All in all, I really like this hotel and appreciate the hospitality they showed us.

We travelled around France and Spain for eight weeks and this hotel was in our top three. We had four nights. Relaxing, clean and comfortable. All the staff are real friendly. Bed cozy, air con perfect and great shower and so so quiet. We didn't go for breakfast as we just wanted to have long rests in the mornings as it was our last destination before sailing home. We used their underground car park and it was a tight squeeze as we have a big car and we had acquired a Thule roof box on our journey but car parking in Bilbao is a real challenge; my advice don't go by car without sorting car parking first. The hotel lift thankfully goes to the basement. As we made our way to the hotel it was downhill all the way having come from Jaca. As we got to 1000 yards from the hotel we got the feeling we shouldn't be there. It felt like a tram/bus reserved area, but there was a police car behind us and the lights stayed off. The river was on our left and as the sat nav said we'd arrived it sure didn't look like a hotel entrance. The guy behind check-in about instantly got off his chair to get us into the carpark and I was delighted. The next time it would start was departure day. €18 a night to park. If we return to delightful Bilbao we will be based here and we sure won't have a car and once we drop our bags we'll walk five minutes to get to Swad Himalayan restaurant then all will be well.

Clever lighting that makes you say "wish I had that at home". Night lights, reading lights that only shine on one side of the bed. No restaurant except for small cold buffet breakfast and a bar. No coffee/tea or refrigerator in rooms. Softest TP I've seen in Spain. Not those nasty little mildly abrasive rolls. A treat for pampered American booties. I see rates around 50 euros on various websites. I paid 45 (without breakfast) booking direct on their website. Four stars for location, modernity and value.

I just knew we had to be within walking distance of the Guggenheim, our primary reason for visiting Bilbao, so it was a nice bonus to be close to Funicular de Artxanda as well for our requisite panoramic views (review: http://bit.ly/2l6b6YI). Now as part of the NH Collection, the hotel itself is modern and sleek like a West Elm catalog come to life. The rainbow-filtered windows represent its distinctive exterior touch against the more traditional buildings that surround it (photo: http://bit.ly/2C30lKy). Our double standard room was comfortable and quiet considering the hotel's bustling location next to the Nervion River, and at $115 per night, it was a relative bargain (photo: http://bit.ly/2B7SvRJ). We found the front desk helpful though a tad on the curt side when they got busy since there were quite a few high-maintenance guests in dire need of etiquette lessons. One unexpected upside was the bowl of sugar-coated gumdrop chew candies that mirrored the rainbow colors of the windows.

The beds are probably new, they are superb. Best bed I ever slept in. Room is decent, a bit small, but decent enough. Bathroom is worth the 4 stars, even though small defects are showing. There's only óne thing very troublesome and that is the temperature in the room. Outside it's winter cold. Inside the room they raise the temperature up to 25 degrees. That's sick. So I have the window wide open. The airco blows warm air so can't be used yet. But really that's the only thing. The staff is friendly. I can't understand one word they speak, because their spenglish is so bad and these Basques speak a whole different language! Even their Spanish sounds different. Make sure you have breakfast included in your price. I didn't and breakfast separately costs 21€. That's crazy of course for the scrambled eggs and some fruit that I eat. Overall: very good hotel. If you don't have breakfast included, please prepare to eat for €21 which is hugely overpriced for the bit of scrambled eggs and a few pieces of fruit that I use in the morning. They were willing to accommodate me by letting me have breakfast a la carte in the bar, but I never did that of course. Alone. The bar has a good menu btw. And sushi. From 20:30 PM on of course.
