I booked this hotel to celebrate my daughter's birthday following the Christmas holiday. We like to make her day special as it is so close to the holiday, a nice getaway is always nice. This year she wanted to stay local and we found the Hotel Silver Spring to be near a few restaurants she wanted to dine at for the day. Check in started off a little rocky as the front desk attendant didn't seem too pleasant. She wasn't rude or mean, but from someone who works in the hospitality industry I am used to feeling welcome. This person really seemed to just "do her job" and move the check in line. No big deal, we took our key and went upstairs to get settled in. The instant we opened the door you could feel heat. I am a person who is always cold so for me to feel hot says a lot. We went in and I tried to adjust the temperature to no avail. I called the front desk and the same woman said she would send someone upstairs. The room had to have been 100 degrees. I am not exaggerating. We couldn't breathe. It got to the point I was taking my clothes off and I finally decided to go back to the front desk and just ask for another room. There was no possible way we were going to wait for a tech to come and assist any longer. We were provided keys to another room with ease. However, although the new room did not have a temperature issue there were visible stains on the couch, holes in one of the lamps, and mold in the bathroom. It was disgusting and not safe. Event the tub looked as if it was not clean. I am greatly disappointed in my stay and would like to be compensated for this. I will not be staying a Hotel Silver Spring again and plan to contact the corporate offices as someone should really be aware of the status of this property. Pictures attached.

This hotel is terrible! I woke up at 2 am to a MOUSE in my room!!!!! This mouse was literally going to the next room, coming in from under the main door and just roaming around. My room was changed and there were flies - about 3 of them in the new room which means something dead or rotten was around. There was also mouse dropping at the entrance of this "new room" as well. Despite reporting the incident, the manager never reached out. Yes - prior to changing my room the front staff apologized profusely and sent someone up to the room (not pest control) however upon my return and questioning the new front desk person about the manager not reaching out and their lack of concern for mice roaming around , she literally told me "what do I want her to do" which was rude and condescending !!! This place is not cleaned properly - torn sheets, mice, mice droppings, flies, there's an odor ....Do NOT stay there ..... a health hazard. I threw out every food item I had recently purchased which was a total waste of my money. Also upon entering the hotel look to the right before entering the second door... it looks like there are some moldy spots!! This is a dirty, unsanitary hotel with unconcerned staff - a health hazard.

    Bugs inside the refrigerator

lobby was a beautiful area. We got to our room and it was small but okay. As we were sitting on the couch a cockroach crawled out. There was little bugs inside the refrigerator. We packed our bags and left asap ended up not even staying 3 hours in the hotel before that happened. Lucky we had found a better hotel so we could enjoy our stay in Silver Springs.

As always, the cookies they provide at check in were delectable. They even have allergen free cookies now! I let the staff know that the last night of my stay, my husband would be joinging me, and that it was our marriage anniversary. They delivered the most delicious cheesecake and two little bottles of champagne to our room. This was an above-and-beyond gesture and made our evening all the more special. I felt very secure in this hotel, as one must utilize their room key to go up in the elevator. My room was on the 16th floor. The view of the colorful trees and surrounding suburbs really was spectacular. There is construction happening around the hotel, and you could hear this in the early hours of the morning, but it was not particularly bothersome to me. The shower was great- good water pressure and a nice shower head (I think it was a rain shower if I am remember correctly). The king bed was extremely comfy. The AC unit worked very well, as did the mini fridge. One thing I appreciated was the lighting in this room. It offered an array of warm, soft lighting, perfect for reading in bed. The workout room was impressive. They boast a rower, a Peloton, nice treadmills, and weights. The only thing I did not appreciate about this experience was the breakfast. It was not obvious to me that this was a separate cost from the stay. I certainly would not have paid $17 for it if I had known ahead of time. For a breakfast that expensive, you need to be offering higher quality options than oatmeal, frosted flakes, and powered scrambled eggs. The pastries were not good, and they do not let you take extra food to your room. I would highly recommend that they revamp this part of the guest experience, and at the veyr least, make it clear before being served coffee that they are about to pay a pretty penny for a subpar, basic breakfast buffet.

I had a terrible experience with the meeting room at this hotel. First, the room was not open until 9:15, and when we finally got in, it was freezing cold. The AV equipment didn't work until 9:35, which wasted even more of our time. I had to ask twice for staff to open the room and to turn on the heat. There was no coffee or water provided, and now, it's almost 11 and we're heading out for lunch because no one ever came by to take our order. This was honestly the worst service I have seen at this hotel.

And we never really heard other guests (although, I suppose it's possible the rooms on either side of us were not in use). We both slept well (as well as we could given the time difference) and I was happy to note that the window shade did a decent job of blocking out the light. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Having the kitchenette was a nice feature to have. My main points for not giving a full 5 stars are: the bathroom door was hard to close and open fully; and the breakfast felt a little lack luster to me, but at least it meant I didn't have to go far to get a bagel.

The pros: Easy access from 495 and New Hampshire Ave (MD…read more650). Digital key access was available. Breakfast had some nice options for build it yourself waffles or breakfast sandwiches with sausages and egg patties, plus hard boiled eggs. Pool, gym, laundry and conference room are available. Rooms have a nice kitchenette with microwave, full sink, dishwasher, plates, cups, bowls, and utensils, plus a sponge and dishwashing liquid. Plenty of room to spread out. There's a nearby Safeway if you need groceries. Parking was easy. The cons: The bed was uncomfortable for my wife, she kept tossing and turning. The flat sheet was a weird sheet/thin comforter combo which wasn't tucked in properly and was uncomfortable after a few hours. The room thermostat did not work as programmed. We set it for 66 to sleep but when we woke up groggy at 3, it had only gone down to 71. We turned it off and on, plus used the fan feature, no difference. The room vent is located by the kitchen, not the bed, so keep that in mind. The bathroom door slides, is heavy and does not have a true handle as it can retract fully in the wall. Based on that lack of handle, it was occasionally difficult to close and open. Due to the time, we did not want to try to switch rooms as we had to leave for a family obligation in a few hours in the morning. To the hotel's credit, they reached out immediately after I did an internal survey. They said to not hesitate to contact the front desk as it's staffed 24 hours. I appreciate them hearing my concerns.

My husband and I reserved a room for a week in May 2026 to visit our daughter in Washington DC. We reserved a non-smoking room with a King bed. Here was our experience: 1. Check-in time was 3 pm. I arrived at 2:50 to see both a "Travelodge" and a "Days Inn" sign on the hotel, so there was some confusion as to whether or not we were in the right place. I was told I needed to come back in 10 minutes to check-in. So I sat in my car until 3 pm, but watched as the manager checked in another family and took them to their rooms while I waited. 2. Once I checked in, I was told that the room with the King bed was not available but they had a room with two doubles. I said that was fine as long as the cost was equal or less than the cost of a King room. The woman checking me in said that the cost was actually *higher* but that they would reduce the price just for us. FYI, I know from when I made reservations that the cost was the same. I don't like being lied to. 3. The check-in procedure took 10 minutes because the woman checking me in continued to have a private conversation (in another language) with someone else in the office while completing the process. I stood there and waited for them to end their conversation before she helped me. 4. First impressions of the room: Sheets and blankets on the bed but no bed cover. No pictures on the walls. They were blank. The floor was linoleum and sticky with stains. No rug. 5. There was no fridge. There was a closet with no doors. Felt a bit like a prison cell. 6. The TV was not connected to cable. It produced nothing but a fuzzy image. 7. The bathroom door didn't close and certainly didn't lock. 8. The tub was clogged. 9. When you turned on the shower head, water sprayed out from the back of the tub faucet, likely into the wall and beneath the tub (more on this below). 10. Towels were tiny, max of 4x2 feet in dimension. Not designed for adults. 11. Minimal lighting. Very dark room. 12. On our third night, I stepped out of the bathroom after taking a shower and my husband said that water had flooded the room from the bathroom. There was a puddle in the corner by the bathroom, seeping up from under the linoleum tiles. 13. The next morning, we went to the front desk to be given a new, non-flooded room. The clerk said that he would "see if anything was available". I explained that he HAD to change our room because he couldn't leave us in a flooded room. He said to return later to get new keys. We came back that evening and we were given a new room. 14. The new room didn't flood and the bathroom door closed, but the lights in between the two beds didn't work. 15. There were cockroaches in the room. We had to store our suitcases up high in the closet and on the single chair in the room to avoid having them crawl into our belongings. 16. Aside from this, the hotel was occupied by some people who seemed to have mental health issues. They yelled and talked loudly. The front office had several unhomed individuals sitting there every time I went in. We did NOT feel safe there. FYI, it was a busy weekend in DC as there were many college graduation ceremonies taking place. Moving to another hotel was not an option. Do not stay here. It is horrific, unclean and unsafe.

When I walked into the lobby, I was surprised that he followed me in and plopped down in one of the chairs there. Clearly the front desk attendant didn't care and let him stay there. He kept saying hey hey hey. When I finally turned and looked at him, he asked me if I was local , and I looked at him in disbelief and answered with one word and then turned away. Then I saw the room. Two lamps with dim bulbs in them. Stained bathtub. No comforter on the bed just sheets. Iron but no ironing board. Absolutely horrific. It was midnight so I fell asleep, fully clothed on top of the sheets and couldn't wait to get out of there in the morning And the password-protected Wifi did not work. I used to think the Wyndham chain had quality standards. Not anymore. This is the second time in a week, that I wished I could've walked out of a Wyndham property.

But the lobby is nice, and the Mica restaurant has some pretty good food, including a great crab cake sandwich. The staff was very friendly and helpful in the lobby, but the restaurant bar seemed to have a lot of either new or uncaring staff. Things like placemats, silverware, and drink refills seemed to be an afterthought unless one of the more senior people reminded the other staff to do it. This location does have a concierge lounge, but I don't think the food compares to a Marriott. For instance, at dinner, they had one option (potstickers one night, fried wontons the other), instead of having a few options to choose from. On the flip side, this was a very inexpensive hotel given the area and amenities.
