The location is not my favorite area, but there is easy access to restaurants and a few bars. The best thing about this hotel is the location - not because of the area, but as I arrived by bus and it is right next to the bus station that was perfect! Besides it only took af few minutes to walk to Messe Berlin! So this is perfect if you get by bus or to Tegel Airport, and if you are going to Messe Berlin. The staff was friendly... it was almost weird to get a "real" key instead of a Card :D - but I will definitely stay the again I am going to the Messe Berlin.

Simple, no frills - but the staff is relatively friendly - and some of them even speak English. It has covered parking, which is great if you have to go to the Berlin Fair Grounds, because parking is expensive and difficult to find. The rooms are quite cheap - with surcharges charged if it is fair time. Breakfast is served in the Ground floor Bistro, and at night there is not much going on around the hotel - you have to take the Tube into town. The next stop is about 10 minutes away by foot. There is WiFi only on certain floors. Make sure to sleep out the back - and not out the front to the Kaiserdamm, as the street is extremely loud - and the building was built in the seventies

I spent 3 nights here after getting each night for $52 (tax included) from hotels.com in a room…read moremeant for 1 person. The room was very, very tiny (smaller than most rooms in Europe) but oddly enough had a large shower and a fairly good lay out (think college dorm for 1 person). The singles have 1 twin size bed but the bed was very comfortable. They have a very strong AC unit. American quality! The location is a bit far from where most of the attractions are (think 25-45 minutes on average) but you are right next to the U2 subway which a lot of the attractions are on, and on a main bus route to Zoological Gardens (you can do a lot of transfers from there). There were also 2 supermarkets,, a couple of steakhouses which looked pretty good and were adjacent to each other (not sure how that happened lol), a bakery, and a few casual restaurants (all were Turkish I think which I get sick of easily)all within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Totally not a touristy area, but still fairly nice. Getting from TXL Airport to the hotel was easy. Just take the airport bus to a subway stop (forgot which one it was) and then connect from the subway straight to the hotel. You only need 1 one way ticket for this for 2.80. If you need to do laundry like I did, there is SB Washsalon which is 2 subway stops away in a fairly nice area. Not going to lie, it was very tricky figuring out how to use the washing machine there (strangely though the driers were very easy to figure out). The payment machine though does take "interest" from each time you click for a refund (you will need to do this...I watched even locals have to do it since it's a warped machine). If you put in 3.50 and need a refund to try again, you will get back 3.40! To dry for 15 minutes was 1 Euro. Although the staff wasn't really friendly (rarely encountered friendly people in Germany) they were very helpful when you had questions. Good free wifi. I would 100% stay at Ivbergs again. Only things that would have made it better would have been slightly stronger water pressure in the shower, the room to be a bit larger, and a minibar with some space :) Tip: Well this isn't much of a tip since most people know this. Book way ahead of time (free cancellation available). Closer to the date the hotel tippled in price.

The hotels have signs saying that the water not is safe for drinking due to a investigation recently made by the health-authority... (which as far as my previous experiences tell me is unusual for a German hotel?!?) however there is a bottle of water in the room (2eur). There is no wifi in the room for free but possible to go bye for 5 eur. Although you could use the wifi in the lobby for an hour for free. Breakfast is app 10eur. Compared to the hotel in Charlottenburg that I have stayed at earlier this is not as nice and does not have as many facilities. Service is ok, all in al it's a ok hotel but I would not choose to stay here again.

Something to note is that the front desk is closed and unattended from midnight to 6:30 AM. Through no fault of their own and through delays on the airlines, it was looking like we were not going to arrive to the hotel till after midnight. I was in a complete panic. My wife was able to e-mail the hotel as well as talk to someone and they assured me it would not be a problem. They were extremely understanding and extremely helpful for our situation. If for some reason you do have to arrive when they are closed, call them ahead of time and let them know, they will leave your key and instructions on how to get your key from the lock box on the back of the hotel to get into your room. This hotel is definitely in the suburbs of Berlin, it is located in what I believe was a neighborhood. It was not your standard hotel but more of a boutique, mom and pop type hotel. We booked this hotel through Expedia and from all the pictures it looked beautiful. I will say that Expedia was correct, this was a very cute hotel. The only thing that Expedia had wrong is that the hotel no longer offers a shuttle from the airport. It is about a 40-to-45-minute drive from the airport and lucky for us we made it just in time. The wonderful gentleman behind the counter had already put our key in the lock box but went and got it for us. Since I had spoken to them numerous times that day, or maybe just because they were so awesome, they knew exactly who we were when we walked in. There was no putting down credit cards or anything like that they knew we were tired, they gave us our key and let us go to bed. We had chosen to pay at the hotel when we booked through Expedia, and we didn't have to pay until our last day. It really contributed to the family feel of the hotel to not have to throw your card down in the minute you check in. The room was small, with two twin beds pushed together, 2 sitting chairs in what was like an open space living room type, lots of dressing cabinets and a very decent sized bathroom. I don't believe there was air conditioning because all of the windows were open. There was something in the room that seemed like it could be an AC unit but we didn't even bother with it. At night with the windows open and the little fan that was in the room as well we were nice and cool. The best part about these rooms is that everyone has a balcony and our balcony had a very beautiful view of the street and the trees. It was very peaceful even though we didn't sit outside that much. We had too much sightseeing to do. The bathroom was very nice with a tub/ shower, just be prepared to step into the tub was very high. I helped my wife step out each time so that I didn't slip and fall, it was that high. The hotel itself does offer breakfast at an additional charge, which we did not get a chance to experience since we had other things planned every day to go and meet our friends. Our friends were in a different hotel that was about a 15 minute car ride as well as closer to things we were gonna do. This hotel as I said is more further out from the main tourist areas, but we absolutely loved it. We 100% enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay here again. The only thing I wish is that for the price it came with breakfast, at least once during your stay. There was a coffee shop right down the street that we went to a couple mornings just to get a couple coffee. But every single employee we interacted with was beyond nice, beyond helpful, and just wonderful. They remembered who we were, they greeted us by name, and just really made us feel welcomed. I honestly can't say enough good things about this hotel.
