There was nothing wrong with the Concorde Hotel am Studio. The i room was ok, the bathroom was ok -…read morethe Price was ok. The location is not my favorite area, but there is easy access to restaurants and a few bars. The best thing about this hotel is the location - not because of the area, but as I arrived by bus and it is right next to the bus station that was perfect! Besides it only took af few minutes to walk to Messe Berlin! So this is perfect if you get by bus or to Tegel Airport, and if you are going to Messe Berlin. The staff was friendly... it was almost weird to get a "real" key instead of a Card :D - but I will definitely stay the again I am going to the Messe Berlin.

This hotel was built when all public broadcasters still had their own hotel. It is located directly…read morenext to the RBB (Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg) about 5 minutes by foot from the fair grounds. The hotel is extremely straight forward. Simple, no frills - but the staff is relatively friendly - and some of them even speak English. It has covered parking, which is great if you have to go to the Berlin Fair Grounds, because parking is expensive and difficult to find. The rooms are quite cheap - with surcharges charged if it is fair time. Breakfast is served in the Ground floor Bistro, and at night there is not much going on around the hotel - you have to take the Tube into town. The next stop is about 10 minutes away by foot. There is WiFi only on certain floors. Make sure to sleep out the back - and not out the front to the Kaiserdamm, as the street is extremely loud - and the building was built in the seventies

For comparison I have stayed at the SwissHotel in Berlin center, which is a nice stylish hotel, located directly in the middle of the city. Perfect if you have business nearby, but a SwissHotel is the same in any city in the world. In contrast, Haus Leopold is in an actual neighborhood of Berlin (Zehlendorf is my favorite part of Berlin, but that is because my father grew up here and I spent many summers here). In the morning kids walk past on their way to school, people commute to work and ride their bikes to the supermarket. Nothing like that happens in center city Berlin. This hotel is quiet, with generous rooms (there is even a room with 4 beds for a family). The owners are very helpful and the breakfast (included) is very generous. If you have a rental car, there is free parking and the location is close to Route 115, which encircles the city, so it's great for trips to Potsdam, Wannsee, center city Berlin, etc. If you enjoy biking, the bike baths in all of Berlin are well identified and maintained. I think biking is one of the best ways to explore all that the city offers.

So we arrived at the hotel by 9:30 and reception was closed. Calling the emergency number: we reached the receptionist who guided us to the drop box and code that held our keys. It's a nice clean hotel that seems like a transformed house.
