The staff was friendly... it was almost weird to get a "real" key instead of a Card :D - but I will definitely stay the again I am going to the Messe Berlin.

Simple, no frills - but the staff is relatively friendly - and some of them even speak English. It has covered parking, which is great if you have to go to the Berlin Fair Grounds, because parking is expensive and difficult to find. The rooms are quite cheap - with surcharges charged if it is fair time. Breakfast is served in the Ground floor Bistro, and at night there is not much going on around the hotel - you have to take the Tube into town. The next stop is about 10 minutes away by foot. There is WiFi only on certain floors. Make sure to sleep out the back - and not out the front to the Kaiserdamm, as the street is extremely loud - and the building was built in the seventies

I had low expectations regarding the rooms and that was a good thing, because my single room on 4th floor was simple. It had a desk and a chair in a rather sterile room that gave me a hostel feeling. The wall to wall carpet did not smell right either.. Other than the carpet, room was clean. So, why such a good rating then? Well, breakfast was nice, view from room was nice, it was cheap and located exactly where I needed. In other words, this place is awesome if you have not planned to stay much in the room. It's a short trip, one stop or 20 minutes walk to Mauer Park and Oderberger strasse or Kollwitzstr. Lots of lcoal stores nearby as well as pubs. So, even though my room was simple, everything else was splendid.

However, all other gates being locked and the restaurant next to the open gate makes for a very safe walk into the hotel. The single room I was assigned was very small, and had only European plugs. The LED TV did not have USB ports. There is no ventilation in the room save for the exhaust fan of the bathroom. However, even very close to summer the room was kept comfortable by opening the windows that look down into the garden and night entry. I generally recommend this hotel to folks looking for a decent rate, while not expecting very luxurious surroundings.

The fitness center is a great size with all the equipment you need for a good workout. The spa is awesome. Two saunas, a steam room and a jacuzzi. There is a tram and a s bahn stop literally right outside the front door. Couldn't be more convenient. Also, a Rewe city accross the street as well. So while it's not in the middle of the touristy areas, it's easy to get anywhere. I also just want to thank the front desk staff for being really nice. I accidentally forgot my keys in the room when I checked out, and realized as I was walking out the door. They quickly gave me a key to run back up! I was in a hurry to catch a train, and they quickly helped me out! Overall would highly recommend!

I was able to check in early and I had a nice corner room facing the back (a parking lot and a green space owned by the hotel, but, glad it wasn't the street). They have a decent continental breakfast in the morning which is often packed with guests. The TV has two English speaking channels and some cartoons that were in English (though I wasn't watching them). A friend ended up joining me for the duration of my trip and I found myself "stealing" extra cups and towels from the housekeeping cart, as they only give you one of everything if you are booked for one person. My biggest complaint about German bedding is the weird "small" duvet that they use for the beds. I barely covered my feet and my friends! They do have a nice bar downstairs with reasonably priced cocktails. Keeping in the tradition of German service, the waitstaff leaves much to be desired personality wise. During the EuroCup they turned all the TV's to the game and guests from around the world watched the games. WIFI is spotty. I was on the second floor and it'd go in and out randomly which was a pain for work. I had better luck in the bar. However, the rest of the lobby I had no luck. (I have a Mac) You get free WIFI if you get breakfast in the morning or you have to pay 5 Euros for 24 hours. The location is okay but the neighborhood is boring at night. You have to walk a bit to find any decent bars or restaurants. I'd stay at Motel One again, probably in a different location.

From the Berlin Hauptbahnhof, we had to take a 15-minute taxi to get this to hotel, but honestly, being near major sights is a highlight of this hotel. We booked our rooms through Expedia and were able to check in no problem. Our room was on the 5th floor, which is one of the designated "Quiet Floors." I tell you, this floor was definitely quiet. Our room had a king-sized bed and each side had its own small comforter for each person, which was perfect as my husband tends to hog the sheets. The bathroom was also spacious and had ample counter space for our toiletries. The room was also clean, except for the room phone had dust and caked up gunk in the receiver, but for the most part, everything else about the room was clean. The breakfast buffet was from 6:30am to 11am every day. We paid extra to have the breakfast buffet, and the options were pretty extensive: yogurts, cut veggies, cut fruit, breads, jams, an assortment of teas, a coffee machine, fruit juices, meats, eggs, hash browns. Everything is self-serve aside from the area where you can order freshly-cooked eggs. You had the option of ordering either eggs Benedict, poached, or scrambled and adding veggies and some meats. There were very few vegan options available like almond milk and cereal, however. Since I follow a more dairy-free diet, I stuck to eating more heartier breakfast items. My family looked forward to eating breakfast every morning because it was so good. Also, the eating area was immaculate and the staff were always diligent in taking your empty plates. Outside/next to the hotel, there is a barsturaunt, which always had many patrons. There is also designated taxi parking right in front of the entrance, so you will not have to wait long to get a taxi. My parents were able to get free bathrobes from the front desk and use the sauna. They said the sauna was consistently at the perfect temperature every night they used it. Overall, when we return to Berlin, this will be our choice of hotel again.

My only problem was the location was a tad odd, I suggest renting a bike as your nearest transportation options is the tram which can be quite random.
