The hotel itself has a lot to offer. Our first time in Barcelona, we were heavily encouraged to stay in the El Born or Gothic Quarter areas. I'm glad we didn't.
While staying further out may require a taxi to visit a few parts of town, it also lends itself to 20-40 minute walks to some notable spots in the city (often passing the fibers that make up the city and plenty of local subsets that are often overlooked).
As far as the hotel itself, the restaurant patio complete with Bonsai tree is stunning, the lobby has a cool, swanky vibe, elevators are quick, efficient and secure, and the rooftop pool offers a beautiful overview of the city (including some breathtaking views of Sagrada Familia).
While our room itself was nothing special, the journey to it was nice, and we appreciated the addition of a world language bookshelf, mini fridge, and office desk.
The only piece I'd change in this experience is the check in process. Both times we aimed to check-in, the line and wait times were abysmal without any empathy or consolation for guests and their schedules. I'm sure we'd face similar challenges if we checked out at a time other than six in the morning, but we do appreciate the staffs ability to converse in multiple languages (we counted four).
All and all, while the stay was decent, we'd likely stay elsewhere traveling in the future. read more
