My review is actually for the Restaurant Domo located in the Hotel NH Collection Abascal. I stayed at this magnificent hotel and decided to try dinner on a Friday night. It is important to note, at the time I stayed, they are only offering their signature BOX for dinner on the weekend. (You can order other dishes in your room from the room service menu). So what is the BOX? It is a white designer box with compartments housing different tapas. You can get the 13 or 18 tapas, with servings for two people. Although the menu is preset, the waiter willingly substituted some choices for me when he learned I did not eat pork. Out wait staff was extremely pleasant and attentive and took the time to explain what each tapas was before we tried them. The tapas included Chorizo Baguette Sandwich; Octopus, Baby Squid, and Prawns; Croquetas; Anchovy, Tomato, Cheese; Caramelized Foie; Aoili Patatas; Goat's Cheese with coconut curry; Tuna Ventresca and a few others, including dessert. The Tuna Venturesca came in a can, but surprisingly it was one of my favorites! It was grilled tuna on top of a layer of potato salad. Very flavorful. The Caramelized Foie was also done well. The only thing I did not try were the anchovies. Although I was skeptical at first about the BOX being the only choice for dinner, it was presented well and a very good sampling of Spanish tapas. Definitely worth a try. They also do a BOX option for brunch on the weekends as well. The drinks were also delicious, and with a full bar they could make anything you would want.

You get a complimentary drink and chocolates when you arrive. The first time he forgot to give me the chocolates, so he sent them up. The second time I got the chocolates but no drink They also give you a voucher for 1 free drink at the bar. Bars intimidate me if I am alone, so I did not cash in on the deal. I stayed here at the beginning on my trip in Spain, for 1 night. Then I came back 7 days later and stayed 3 more nights. I ordered Uber Eats a couple of times, and they would always call up and ask if I wanted it brought up. That makes me feel safe! I love this brand. I stayed at one of their resorts in Mexico, and I came up in their system. The only problem was in my second stat one day I came back and the bed was half made, like the staff left in the middle of the job. They have to tighten that up. It is unacceptable.

Its the first to provide top sheet which is standard in US but not in Europe. Plus the AC Actually cools the room. Even though we are right across from the elevator... no noise issues from elevator but heard noises from above and then one day construction noise for hours while we tried to sleep . Lots of provided amenities conditioner, lotion, toothbrush toothpaste, comb, shoe shine kit and shower cap. Different pillows sized. Bed is firm which seems to be common for Europe but we have pillow top with toper so not our preference. Water pressure was good and the toilet flush button is huge and really dramatic. There is a bidet but frankly dont know how it works. Breakfast was included in our package and it was just ok. Rooftop bar has view but not much to see. There is a tiny pool. I actually not too impressed with Madrid but if u are coming i would recommend this hotel except location wasnt close to anything.. We were here 3 nights. Enough to see it all.

Attentive staff, polyglots, competent and efficient from check in to housekeeping. The rooms are comfortable, monsoon shower heads with hand wands, bidets, plenty of electrical outlets, you need to bring your USB adapters. The desk could have used a light bulb (there was a desk lamp but no bulb), the coffee machine makes an acceptable espresso and they have ceramic espresso cups in the room. Downstairs in the lobby there is always cool fruit tinged water which is very welcome. The hotel has a nice bar they call the Library, and they serve a good breakfast. Walking distance from Mercado Barelo where you can pick up bread and charcuterie, produce, or sit down and have espresso, breakfast, lunch, supper or dinner (a different meal every visit for a week), there's a post office nearby, and dozens of restaurants in the immediate neighborhood ranging from very affordable tapas to more than a handful of Michelin Star places. In Winter there are hardly any American tourists, the only other Americans we met were ex-pats or students. An easy metro train ride from the airport, a short number 10 or 37 bus from here to the museum triangle, an very easy metro train to the train to Toledo for a day trip. A block away is a lovely old Catholic church for you Chief of Staff to go to Mass. Prices fluctuate but if you can get one of their better rooms for 150 Euro a night, that's a great deal.

Could have been a lot better is an excellent title…read more As I write, we are on our second of five nights at this four star hotel (early June 2025). So these comments are based mostly on that experience. Will update later if anything better or worse happens. First the pros (glass 2/5ths full): - Clean and good cleaning of room. - AC works great in room and elsewhere. - Small mini fridge, but they restock it with water every day so far. - Excellent view from the room. - Light-tight window treatments if needed. - Quiet so far. - Nice shower with somewhat logical controls (plumbing fixtures can be an issue in Spain). - Bar is nice and not overly priced. Friendly and helpful bartender. - Friendly staff overall, however... (more below). - Large breakfast and decent buffet spread (but don't assume it's included--ask first!) Now the cons (glass 3/5ths empty): - Our "deluxe" room is tiny. I would hate to be squeezed into a normal room. Maybe it's deluxe because of the nice view? - Laminate flooring could use a refresh. So gratis four-star slippers (as we had in our previous hotel) would be appreciated. - The peeling wallpaper enrages my wife. Needs a refresh too. - Access to the photo highlighted "terrace" on the fifth floor was locked on our first evening (it wasn't late at all). Will check again today, but it should have been open. - Front desk, on arrival, carried our luggage to the elevator (not to the room), which was odd. Saved us a tip I guess. - Front desk, on arrival, also mentioned breakfast was included, which conformed to our expectations based on our booking through hotels dot com. However, this morning we received a bill at the table and were told breakfast was not included (30 Euros for two). We asked about the discrepancy at the front desk. The guy told us his coworker had made a mistake in telling us breakfast was included. No offer to correct their own mistake (four stars?). Bottom line: Ask before eating or potentially suffer a bait and switch. More affordable first meals are readily available nearby. - Not one English channel on the room televisions. No biggie, but really? Considering the cost and alternatives, we probably would not stay here again. We have stayed in many hotels in Madrid and throughout Spain.

Okay minus one for the extremely slow moving elevators but the room was really nice, service was excellent, and the breakfast was chefs kiss! The room was decked out in a beautiful gold with a sofa, table, and spacious bed. Amenities included WiFi, complimentary shoe cleaning, and glass bottles of water daily. The outside view was nice (top of the palace or something), bathroom was spacious with complimentary body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and lotion. There is a coffee machine in the room as well as a small fridge with drinks and snacks priced per item. They had 2 robes in the room, velvet clothing hangers, and the softest room slippers. They have an awesome breakfast buffet, which cost 45 euros each day or about 30 euros if you pay for all days of your stay. The breakfast although stayed the same every day, were all healthy and fresh ingredients from creamy scrambled eggs, thinly sliced jamon and Manchego cheese, to fresh fruits, fresh juices, buttery croissants, fresh honey comb, pancakes, churros, and make your own omelet station. Also right across the street is the famous Prado Museum and The Cooking Clubhouse cooking class. Their service was excellent helping me load-in and load-out my luggage and there's even an indoor lounge and bar. Would come back 10/10, Salud!! :))

Our room had a great view of Calle Luchana, and a little balcony that you can step out to... take some pictures. (There really wasn't room for much else.) We upgraded our room to a balcony room which was awesome, because the building is on a corner and the balconies are wraparound so you can walk all the way around the distance of your room. The price was right and the location was within walking distance of a LOT of restaurants and a couple of nightclubs (sala clamores is one of them which I also recommend). It's also only a 20 minute walk to Calle Gran Via which is a very busy street for shopping, shows, etc. Also, there is a Madrid-Metro entry right at the Hotel's entrance so getting around longer distances is quite easy. About a 30 min train ride, if that, to and from the Airport.
