We arrived a little early and waited in the lobby till we were able to check in. Location is convenient to many(Parking garage next door is convenient. Fee is $17 per 24 hours plus $1 service charge. Call the number on the booth and you can enter and exit). The hotel currently doesn't have any dining options but are selling snacks and drinks by the counter. There are vending machines by the ice machine on the 5th floor. Hotel clerks are very pleasant. I didn't hear much noise from any other guests in the hallway but was able to hear traffic and street arguments late at night from the top floor. Room and bathroom was clean. Bed was decent. The ac works very well. We walked quite a bit as we were able to. I would recommend.

Patched hole. They didn't bother painting over or covering. The whole wall was beat up

I come to Memphis for work probably 3 times a quarter and love trying the hotels downtown. This one has potential, it's actually nice aside from my room was subpar to say the least. I got in late and my bf I were exhausted from traveling & going to the game so I just sucked it up for 2 days, but the room smelled like smoke. The floor says non smoking but the room definitely had a smoke odor too it. Then walls looked beat up. Like someone had been fighting and they just didn't care to fix it completely. Cleaning was subpar but half down. Probably won't be back to this one.

We started out shaky checking in. Assigned room 424, the air conditioning did not work. To front desk's Sandeep's credit, no joy. No maintenance personnel available at 09:30 pm either. So, after fumbling for an hour of this, how about a different room? Apparently as luck would have it, the hotel's sold out. Ah... Sandeep speaks with Monte the manager who's at home. Miraculously, a room becomes available?! Yay! Better yet with working room a/c in Memphis' spring heat coming in bloom. Now I'm happy. For all this trouble though I did ask for a price adjustment on the room stay. He did offer and I accepted $75.00 off of a one night stay of about $250.00. A Lavazza coffee and an $8 breakfast bagel sandwich was comp. Now we're talking here. But you must ask! No ticket NO washy as someone had said. I'll give them another shot if back to downtown Memphis.

I travel a lot for business, and in all places I've visited over the years, I have never stayed at a hotel as dirty or smelly the Napoleon. I'm going to post pictures, but even with the pictures and my review - describing my experience just won't do it justice. You have to experience it for yourself - at first glance it seems like any other boutique hotel. The lobby is cute. The decor trendy. And I have to admit that the bed linens were nice. But that's it. When I walked into the room I discovered a dirty bathroom that smelled of urine, and the room smelled of mildew. There were boogers smeared on the wall above my bed. Nasty stains and graffiti on the furnishings, and something white splashed on the curtains. I found hair and toenails on the floor next to the bed. So you may be asking - why did you stay? Well gentle reader, there was a big conference in town and most of the hotels in the area were at capacity. My discoveries transpired close to bedtime and I was only there for one night. Otherwise, I would've hightailed it out of there and gone elsewhere. The next morning I was greeted by drain flies and mildew in the shower. And the glass shower doors had a filmy layer of soap and dirt. I tell this tale and leave this review because it's important that others are aware. The hotel will most likely respond with some excuses about how it's hard to find good people to clean and that the pandemic created staff shortages. I call bullshit. I've been all over this country - and have stayed in hotels everywhere. This is neglect pure and simple. The dust behind the toilet is laziness, not a lack of staffing. Train the people you have. Create a standard of cleanliness for the rooms. And for god's sake - don't call yourself a 3 or 4-star hotel because you hang a robe and slippers in your old and funky wardrobe.. The Napoleon is clearly a 2-star with a bar. The place is a smelly old pig with lipstick on.

Not accommodating without Rocky there. Check to see if he's going to be around for the dates you are there! Also, coffee machine in lobby is broken. Had to plug in the tv myself. Phone was busy on all lines for concierge, front desk, etc. all night. Sticky hand marks of fluids on wall and headboard. Sticky desk.. Clearly not wiping surfaces during COVID. Half of the staff I saw were either not wearing masks or not correctly wearing masks, even though they have the city ordinance posted throughout the hotel. If you are 2nd floor or below, get ready to enjoy loud motorcycles and cars in your room all night. When I asked to speak to a manager this morning, I was asked "why?" After beginning to explain a few of the issues, I was quickly brushed off. Since I was unable to speak to a manager, I decided to post it here. Beware! Update: 5 days later, have not heard from a manager. Pretty sure I never will.

The good... Location, nice new rooms, good location, free water, coffee, nice folks. The bad, our room wouldn't deadbolt and when staff told us it was fixed...It wasn't. Air conditioning unit made annoying loud clicking sounds and when staff tried to fix it ..They didn't. Kept waking us up all night both nights. Ordered breakfast with one worker and a few customers...Waitress disappeared for 20 minutes...Couldn't even find her to tell her we were giving up. A near miss.

The hotel was modern and clean. The cool fruit infused water was welcomed each time we returned to the hotel. Memphis is hot during the summer! The staff was super friendly and full of Southern hospitality. The hotel even went as far as sending text to see what they could do to improve our stay. The hotel is in a historic building downtown. If you're here during the Spring/Summer there is a minor league baseball team plays steps from the hotel. Beale Street and other points of interest are within walking distance of the hotel. If I'm ever in Memphis again, most definitely stay here again.

We opted to upgrade to the Club Level Rooms on the 12th floor. The 12th floor is very exclusive. There is a private lounge and dining area on this 12th floor. There is a breakfast served daily and also an appetizer/charcuterie reception daily in the Club Level. It is very much worth the upgrade. The convention spaces at this wonderful hotel are very spacious. The history of the hotel and its "Peabody Ducks" are the show stoppers. Everyday there is a "Duck Parade/March" in which the Duckmaster and retrieves the ducks at 11a from their duck sanctuary on the top floor of the hotel. He brings them down the elevator to the lobby and they march on the red carpet into the famous and ornate Peabody Fountain. Then, at 5p the Duckmaster comes to retrieve them and does another "Duck March" back to the elevator to take back up to the duck sanctuary. People travel from all over the world to witness and participate in this ceremony. They have honorary duck Masters, people who have waited years, who practice the ceremony with the Peabody Ducks and Duckmaster. Everything was so well appointed and very ornate. There is also a history of the hotel that plays on the video in each room. If you have an opportunity in your lifetime to stay at this hotel and enjoy the amenities, I highly recommend it. There is also a pool and an athletic club on the lower level. I didn't have a chance to get to that area, but that was one of my goals so I have to save that for the next time I visit. Overall, the Club level King Room, the Club Level, and everything about our stay was 5-Star. The Bell Desk has Jeffrey who was outstanding at getting our bags upstairs to our room. The hotel registration process was seamless with Diamond handling all of our details and upgrade to a Club Level Room. Diamond's customer service was EXCELLENT and she made me feel welcome and valued as a hotel guest. Able to walk to Sun Studio 0.8 mile away, Charlie Vergoss Rendezvous (but there's better food to be had than there), Peabody Hotel is a block away. One downside: Lyft drivers seemed confused about where to drop off or pick up, usually stopping on the other side of Peabody Place. The back courtyard entrance of the hotel, near the parking garage, is somewhat hidden even when I gave the Lyft drivers directions. Clean - including the top of the shower curtain railing, I checked. Housekeeping - didn't need cleaning or bedding changing, just a change of towels. The young housekeeping black man(forgot his name) was very personable and accommodating. Breakfast buffet - the two women worked hard, constantly keeping the area clean and tidy, having food out, and taking our plates away when done. Standard fare - eggs (omelet or scrambled), sausage links or patties, potatoes, do it yourself waffles, oatmeal, breads, yogurt, coffee & tea & juice. Fruit was not ripe. Room- the *best shower water pressure* I've ever felt! A night light was in the bathroom, a considerate feature when the room lights are off. Comfortable in the truest sense not merely adequate, but genuinely restful. The kind of bed you sink into and feel the day release from your shoulders. The kind of space that says you're taken A genuine hospitality that feels rooted in the city itself rather than scripted by a brand manual. Memphis has always been generous that way, and the Canopy reflects it. And then there's the catfish. I don't say this lightly: the catfish here is worth the trip on its own terms. Crisp where it should be crisp, tender where it should yield -- it carries that deep Southern confidence that reminds you food can be both humble and extraordinary at the same time.
